I have to say. My family been playing 2k since the first one. But the intro we still talk about til this day. Is the 2k2 intro!
But the 2k4 one is one I remember because they used LeBron James clips when he was still in HIGH SCHOOL lol.
I think the 2k intros is what got me into downloading and mixing clips. Things like the Reel Maker (May you R.I.P.)
The 2k2 intro... I can't tell you how many times we would restart the game just to re watch the intro over and over again. I also think what made that intro the best was because it was the height of the Allen Iverson career.
Dang man, what's up with all this hate for the 2K13 intro? I feel it's one of the best out of the rest. So what if it had Jay-Z in it? Have you guys seen some of the NBA promos? Especially the ones for the All-Star weekend? They're part music videos and part basketball clips. So maybe number 2 in the list because 2K12 did have a cool intro.
The NBA Live 98 intro will always occupy a special place in my personal ranking as it was my first basketball game.
And re-watching it nowadays, I still think it's a legit top 5 intro.
You guys are smoking crack....EASILY the best intoduction into a basketball videogame, and without comparison is 3 words....
are you ready?
I wish/suggested that they incorporate this type of intro in the Classic Teams. I'm not sure how well that would work with all teams, but that and the Pistons intro with the Wallace boys would rank high.

My issue, as others have mentioned, is not the mere fact that Jay-Z's involved, it's that he's too involved. The reason I so thoroughly enjoy intros from the likes of 2K3, 2K4 and even 2K12 is because they're chock full of NBA basketball. In 2K13, the intro seems one part Jay-Z, one part NBA. My NBA video game intro expectations are that they be full of NBA basketball, not having the game relegated to just being part of the show.
I would agree the 2K13 intro does resemble much of what we see in some of the special real life intros. That's also why I'm not a big fan of those special real life intros. Hearing music over basketball highlights makes sense to me. Constant cuts to a recorded live performance by a popular musical artist does not.
For instance, this has music, but it does not cheapen its own effect by making quick cuts to the artist's face:
