EXCLUSIVE! In MLB® 13 The Show™: Last year we introduced Online Home Run Derby™ to the PS3 with MLB 12 The Show. MLB 13 The Show brings this experience to the PS Vita with the addition of cross platform play. Regardless of whether users are logged in to a PlaySstation®3 or PlayStation®Vita, selecting an Online Home Run Derby match will gather users into one game experience. You could be playing against users in a train, plane or their living room!
Like last year, when entering an Online Home Run Derby™ contest, you will have the option to play a “Random Match” or “Play With Friends.” Random match will set you up against other online users in the queue. This can be against 2-7 other players (8 users max).
When you select “Play with Friends” you’ll be shown a list of any lobbies your friends have created, or you can choose to “Create Lobby” yourself.
Check out Home Run Derby Online when MLB 13 The Show comes out, for a chance to be crowned the Home Run Derby champion and earn extra XP.
All players will see and be able to swing at pitches at the same time and watch each hit, which is represented by multi-colored hit ribbons that stretch from home plate to wherever the ball lands.
The on-screen, in-game, real-time leaderboard lets you know who the leader is and where you stand so you’re always aware of how you’re doing against the competition.
