Madden NFL 13 News Post

In Madden NFL 13 online Connected Careers, some users within leagues have ran into negative cap space numbers. Many in the range of 1.3 billion dollars.

EA Sports will push a server side fix for 360 and PS3 users that continue to have these salary cap issues, which will fix existing and future online Connected Careers.

I really don't get you offline CCMers. Almost everyone here knows that you can do a single user CC online and get all of the server side updates that the multiple user online CC's get. Yet a lot of you still chose to do yours offline. Now you wanna complain because offline isn't getting the same thing as the online users are getting. Why complain? You made your choice. You could have done a single user online CC, but you decided to do an offline one for who knows what reason. The only ones I feel sorry for are the offliners that didn't have choice of doing an online CC because of a lack of internet. I feel sorry for those guys in instances like this. All you other guys that just didn't wanna have to play on EA's servers, you got what you asked for. Now you can sit back offline and hope that EA comes out with some kind or patch for this or you can quit complaining and get online like the rest of us. I promise you its not as bad as you think it is lol.
Complainig are you serious man;people have the right to play the game how they see fit. What if it was the other way around "offline got it fixed and online didn't".In a nut shell, people have the right to complain about something that they expected to work properly in the first place friend. They bought the game so they should be able to play the game as they like.

On topic, this news makes me quite happy. I am currently -1399.99 in the hole as far as my cap is concerned and I have a lot of young guys I need to resign. I already missed out on some key players because of this. Hopefully my CC will have some kinda plan for people like me that already lost some guys because of this. Anyway, this is good news. I just hope EA didn't break nothing else by fixing this lol.
I play Offline CCM because I'm probably not buying another broken Madden next year waiting month after month for a fix to major bugs. They won't support M13 online CCM once M14 releases and so if I have a franchise, I'll be forced to start fresh either offline or in M14. I'd rather continue M13 offline for another year and save $60.

I think this may have saved the league I'm in.

Thank you, EA.

Alright, this is pretty funny.

After 2 weeks of talking to EA through every route I could find (Twitter, E-Mail, Game Changers, Forums, Calls...)

I log onto to Twitter this morning to thank EA for finally addressing this issue... and I've been blocked.

They waited until I had something nice to say before they blocked me.

Heh.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Posts like this make me wish we had a dislike button. Believe it or not, or LIKE it or not, the majority of us DO play mostly OFFLINE. I have internet access, but mine sucks so I don't even bother. I wouldn't play online anyway, because that's just not my cup of tea. It's a shame that there will probably always be some kind of disconnect between online and offline gamers.

First, I'm an offline gamer true and true. I tried online this year because the server updates were coming quicker than patches offline. No problems.

Secondly, the online gamers have been treated like second class citizens the last several years because there were 0 updates for online, while offline received all the goodies.

So, now online receives server updates first.

Just need to put things into perspective.

TU2 - September 11th
TU3 - October 15th
TU4 - November 29th
TU5 - ????

Hopefully it doesn't take until late December or January for it to get here but that's probably what we're looking at.
Can anyone speak to how often this affects offline CCM players and how much damage it does to the long-term playability of the offline CCM?

Is the windage meter going to work yet?

and I play offline so I can adjust the rosters and OVR. As far as I can tell you can't do that in online

I don't understand why they have separate online and offline ccm, anyway. seems to me they'd be better off setting CCM to recognize if # of owners=1, then certain things change, but everything else remains the same.

Right now, it seems like they have to fix lots of things twice, because the same problem exists in online ccm and offline ccm.

I was very happy to sign into my team and see that I can now sign my players. But I can't help but wonder what is the next thing to go wrong. But I am happy that the mode works.

#1 reason for me too.

#2 is the ability to use current rosters if there are some players who have been added (PS, UDFAs, etc) or who are a lot better than first rated (Luck, RGIII, etc) that I want long term in my franchise. If I did online, I am stuck with week 4. For offline, I can pick any roster I want to start a CCM with (sometimes it is worth re-starting...I did so to get Alexander on the Chargers).

You can sometimes go by past history and patterns. If there are server fixes, sometimes, in the future, offline should be patched as well.

We'll see.

With the previous history of offline CCM patches, have we had to restart, or have they been implemented in existing CCMs? If the latter, I'm fine with a patch down the road and staying offline. If I'd have to restart, though, I almost feel forced online, and I don't necessarily like that.

The other patches didn't require a restart for existing CC's.

The reason I like Offline is being able to save my progress whenever I want.

They can't fix everything, especially as the more you tweak and patch the more likely things have the potential to break. It would be nice if at some point they announced end of support for Sony/MS title updates, but if work will continue on online CCM because of the different ways they can make adjustments/fixes (and then announce when that support has ended also).

Think that's pretty uncommon across the entire industry though. Usually it is accomplished (poorly) by simply remaining silent.

I think some combination of managing expectations and not knowing if these fixes would ever be deployed are why we remain in the dark until the week of or even a day or two prior. They could still be working on things, a title update (much higher risk, Sony/MS certified and distributed) or more online fixes, but regression testing could uncover bigger problems than they are fixing, essentially cancelling that fix due to resource availability.

Has anyone else found that they've tweaked more than just the salary cap glitch? man coverage and pass rush seems to have been amped up too.

Thorough regression tests should have been done up front and then maybe crucial support wouldn't have to extend this far out.
Product working just fine for the vast majority of us. At some point they have to move on to the next title.

Not going to indulge in mythical perfect gaming development hypotheticals, the perfect and bug free game doesn't exist.

Which of these means Madden isn't a 'working product' ? Sounds like it has to be perfect to qualify by your description.

Just wrapping up a game right now, seems to be working to me. A nice tough ball control game, forced a couple late turnovers to pull away.

You're the one suggesting testing should catch everything, and that the game isn't working. If the game 'didn't work' then this forum would be on fire. Instead it's just the usual smoldering angst.

With the salary cap problem supposedly fixed, wouldn't be surprised at all if there isn't another update. Hopefully they're able to make it available to offline players also. To get back to my original post, in just wish it was more commonly communicated when they've moved on to the next title is all.

The game is the best Madden I've played as a franchise player, but will never be perfect.
