Madden NFL 13 News Post

It looks like the Madden NFL 13 title update #3 change log has been edited.

According to the official website, changing offensive and defensive schemes in offline CCM is available now, but online CCM will get a patch on the 19th.

This was nowhere to be found, when title update #3 details were released on October 3rd.

To avoid any confusion, I wanted to make sure everyone saw this.

Changing Schemes in Offline Connected Careers: Added the ability to change offensive and defensive schemes as a coach. (Coming to Online Connected Careers on October 19th)

A couple things I've noticed so far:

Testing as the Dolphins, a West Coast / 4-3 Base scheme by default.

1.) Changing from West Coast to Power Run changes the coach weekly XP goals from the passing goals (350 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, etc.) to the rushing goals (150 yards rushing, etc.). The week must be advanced after making the change in order for it to take effect.

2.) Changing from 4-3 Base to 3-4 Base (or 3-4 Attacking) does *not* change the number of MLB's and DT's listed in the sub-schemes. There is still DT1 and DT2 listed and only one MLB after changing to 3-4, which is very disappointing.

I'm hoping #2 might be fixed, but not sure if I'll be holding my breath.

I noticed #2 was a problem when I went to do a fantasy draft as the Chiefs, trying to bring the Giants 4-3 style of play to KC a few weeks ago. My dreams were crushed before the CCM started .

I recently joined a new online ccm that was in week 9 as the raiders and for some reason their scheme had only 1 dt but 2 lolb and 2 mlb in that screen even though they were a 4-3 team changing the scheme dosent change it either

i have the same issue in my offline CCM with the Raiders. in game when they show the starting lineups for the defense, they always show 4 linebackers now.

not a big deal to me though.

Can anyone confirm that you can change schemes in a pre existing offline ccm?? I tried..left the screen, went right back and it was back to the original schemes. Do you have to advance a week?? Or do anything to trigger it??? Any help much appreciated! I REALLY dont wanna start over

if you change your scheme, back out of the screen then go back in, your changes should be reflected.

What real good does changing schemes do, especially since you still can't change playbooks?

If players aren't a fit for your team, their interest level in signing is changed and impacts your ability (and cost) to resign.

Which screen do you use to change your scheme in an offline CCM? Can this be done at anytime during the CCM?

Yes, it can be done at any time, but the schemes don't stick, unfortunately.

Does changing the offensive or defensive scheme actually change the player overall ratings in the depth chart/roster? or do overall ratings only change from adjusting the player types? Thanks!

in my offline franchise, it has the option to change defensive schemes but it doesn't actually change. every time i back out and go back in the schemes go right back to what they were before.
i tried saving before i backed out and everything, no luck. there must be something i'm missing?

The last patch SEEMS to have "undone" the fix...

It worked for me after this October 19th patch UNTIL I was forced to DL the latest patch...(was having freeze issues on PS3 system and had to do a restore and reinstall the game with ALL patches instead of my previous cache of the first 3 ONLY)...

Now it no longer sticks / changes...

I am using CLE who is "West Coast" / "Attacking 4-3" by default...

I had it changed to "Spread" / "Tampa 2" which worked until today's DL of last patch...

So:

Patch 3: Fixes it

Patch 4: UN Fixes it

UGH

It'll stick if you don't re-enter the screen. So, go in make all the changes you want to the positions and then change your coaching schemes. Back out of that menu, Save your CCM. When you look at coaching profile or career goals, it'll list the schemes you select. If you go back into the Scheme menu, it'll reset to WC/Attacking 4-3.
