  • Online Country Clubs
  • Pitching and chipping game is more realistic
  • The Total Swing Control concept... (execution leaves something to be desired)
3 Dislikes
  • The lack of a rhythm component in Total Swing Control. There's still an inertialess, twitchy tempo required for full shots that cheapen's the swing model.
  • Lack of camera configuration options. I don't like the Follow-cam we are forced to use in Live Tournaments, and the True-Aim camera needs to have some shift to a downrange camera at the user's discretion options. I'd like to hold the True-Aim perspective for 75%of the ball's flight, then switch to a panning, downrange camera the rest of the way.
  • Live Tournaments are experientially "dead" in Tiger 13. We need more "live" atmosphere. We need hole by hole, real time scoring updates, summaries of how others who've already played the hole scored on it, the option to play along with the recorded round of a player who's played the round before you. We could play with recorded rounds of others with Gamernet, why not live tournaments. We should be able to play Live Tournaments in multiplayer groups in our Online Country Clubs.

Here is my personal top 3 'likes' and 'dislikes' --

Likes -

1. Country Club: Although it still lacked a lot of much needed features and more social integration, it was a great starting point. Hope to see this expanded on in Tiger 14.

2. Swing Mechanic (non putting): Though I question the putting meter that was chosen, the rest of the mechanic was a solid re-boot. Again, I'd like to see an expansion of this feature for 14 including a better putting meter and more sensitivity on harder difficulty levels.

3. Coin System: I know I might be in the minority, but I thought the coin system was great for users who played a ton and allowed for access to DLC courses. While I'd like to see it scaled to allow for more free plays on DLC courses, I know many people who got every DLC course for free - that's a pretty cool step if you ask me.

Dislikes -

1. Putting Meter: Ugh, not much positive to say about it. Didn't work for some camera angles at all and was over-sensitive. Usually I'm ok with a spike in sensitivity, but putting in real golf requires a balanced pendulum swing - something not replicated with the new meter. Hope to see an overhaul in this department.

2. Lack of Online Features: While every other sports title is giving us online franchises and careers, Tiger is still behind the trend here. We need Online Career mode. This would add a ton of replayability to the title.

3. Not enough world courses: It's great that they added even more courses but I'd like to start seeing more world courses - UK, Canadian...Can we finally get a Collector's Edition that includes all of the courses?! I'd love to see a $79 2 disc set that gave me all of the courses at a discount.

1.) The new swing mechanism - I love how forgiving it is at lower levels, but how it punishes you at the higher levels. Also overhitting the shot is a great touch, so that making perfect contact all the more paramount. As of now, it feels just about right.

2.) The Coin System- Yes, I have gotten a bunch of free courses by just playing the game, but I wanted Atlanta Athletic Club, so I just bought it. I felt that it gave the players options and I enjoyed just playing the game to get coins.

3.) Course Mastery System - This time, it feels perfect and by playing the game long enough, you can master the course, instead of the crazy things you had to do on Tiger 12.

Dislikes

1.) Career Mode - The Career mode overall is good, but the lack of playoff holes kinda kills the vibe. Also major tournaments don't really feel that way too me. They just feel like another tournament. I wanna feel the electricity of playing at a major with roaring crowds. In addition, the return of the USGA liscence and the rules of golf and seeking the PGA of America liscence for the PGA championship would both be nice touches in the game. Also President's cup and Ryder Cup modes would be nice to have again.

2.) Hazard Play - Hitting the ball into the rough, bunker and anywhere off line should be more of a penalty. Even if I strike the ball perfect, there should be snap hooks and double cross shots based on the lie I have. Make me pay for bad shots.

3.) Collector's Edition - as said above, I would love a collector's edition with every course offered instead of having to download some of my favorites every year. That, or somehow allow us to use courses used in previous years in newer editions.

To clear up DLC transfers - the reason DLC can't, and my guess will never be, brought over to next year's title is due to the fact that each year those DLC packs go through coding changes and other various upgrades. For instance - in Tiger 13, the dev team worked hard to properly scale the courses and objects/backgrounds to mimic more real to life sizes. In old Tigers the fans were all around 4ft. tall if scaled to real proportions.

What I'm saying is that as soon as you change one part of a DLC course then it's pretty much new. So if they improved graphics in Tiger 14 at all then only choice they have is to upgrade DLC courses or keep them exactly the same as last year which I'm sure people would complain about if graphics weren't uniform throughout the entire title.

The only hope is to find some type of workaround. I thought the coins were a great start last year. I think this year it would be nice to somehow offer a discounted download to those of us who constantly buy each course every season. If we got a bigger discount through Season Ticket or a Collector's Edition which bundled all courses together discounted at retail on a separate disc would be a huge benefit.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm just looking for a solution to that issue. I know I probably pay 40-50 bucks a year on DLC courses, even after buying the Collector's Edition the past two years. I love the game that much, but I can't help but feel that I'm getting jilted by payin for the same course the past 3 years. LOL. I'm paying 120 bucks for the game for the all the content now. Plus, I play more on the DLC courses than I do the ones on the standard edition. I'd rather just pay 80-90 bucks in one swoop with multiple discs on Xbox and be done with it. Trust if the game is good, people who want it, won't mind the mutiple discs. See L.A. Noire and Battlefield 3.

Yeah man I hear you. I've bought all DLC every year so I feel your pain. My saving grace last year was the fact that I have Season Ticket so I got the 20% off each course which was nice. I'm still in full support of a 'all DLC courses' Collector's Edition though. I know I've already mentioned that to Tiger's Community Manager so hopefully it's been passed along.

** FYI - I'm a hardcore sports gamer, but a casual Tiger player. I love the game, but I primarily bought it to golf with Kinect

1) Kinect Golfing

3) Course Mastery System

3 Dislikes
1) Menu design for Kinect - just doesn't work well, I always picked up my controller until I was on the course
2) Putting - the concept is good, but it's just not as precise as I'd like
3) Add in fun mini-games like are in the Tiger challenge to earn XP and just mess around (especially with Kinect)

-its almost like the game is on training wheels, you can technically get through a round with a decent score, without even having to switch clubs once or move your aiming marker - it does it all for you and makes the game very straight forward.
-driving and long irons are WAY too accurate..FIR% should not be in the 80s and 90s - again making the game feel too easy

That is all

-DLC content brilliantly implemented. In-game money that can be earned was a great idea and hope to see this become a mainstay in the series.
-Course Visuals are incredible.
-Course Mastery. Think that has already been driven home by a few of the previous posters. Great way to motivate players to play "sim" golf.

Dislikes:

-Swing Animations all are pretty poor. Seems to be no force behind the shot. As if they are swinging at 30% all the time. Also, none of the swings represent their real life counterpart. Not even Tiger's looks anything like real life.
-Presentation leaves alot to be desired. Would like to a more TV broadcast centered presentation. Seems like they are caught in the middle between trying to make it seem like it's on TV and you're on the course. Would like to see pre-shot routines, practice swings before addressing the ball, players grabbing grass to check the wind direction etc. Also get rid of the players standing like zombies before you select your shot. Looks bad.
-Sound. This also ties in with presentation. More player specific crowd chants and cheers. Bigger pops for making a putt if the tournament is close etc. Also ball striking sounds need much improvement and I think the sound of the ball hitting the trees has been in since about 2005.

Course variety and quality in collector's edition. It was nice that they weeded out the Fantasy courses.

Realistic AI scores on Tour Pro Level

Career Mode. The priogression felt right to me in this year's game (although I'm not a really skilled gamer)

Dislikes:
Weather Effects Too Pronounced. Wind velocities a too high, too much rain in Dubai.

Weather Did Not Effect AI Players. While my golfer is fighting adverse conditions the AI scores were the same as when the weather was perfect.

Driving Too Easy. Still a bit too forgiving, although this can be tuned by using inferior equipment. Miss the club tuner.

Top 3 likes

1. Core game mechanics (swing mechanics)
2. amount of courses
3. Country clubs

Top 3 dislikes

1. Glitches (no flag unacceptable, old glitches around for yrs)
2. Too many modes online and ability to see what swing type your playing (keep it simple, prefferably 2 modes online)
3. Pins..get rid of them or at least get rid of shot preview and calm the wind

•The concept of the country clubs, although basing them on status points near enough ruined the online gaming this year. As the team games, alt shot and fourball gave you nothing or hardly anything and a lot of people would only set. The country clubs need to be based on handicaps, and win/loss/draw ratios of all members like real golf clubs.

•The microphones finally fixed on ps3 at last.

•The graphics and swing were pretty good.

3 Dislikes

•The glitches, oh my word, never have I seen so many in a game that is meant to have been quality tested. The landing glitches and drops out or into bunkers, or right back over water are just terrible.

•The chipping, I only play tournament level, as hard as you can no grid, super fast and windy as hell, and it is sooooo easy to chip in, everyone does it, there needs to be some random, error ikn the hitting.

•The dumbing down of difficulty, I recently went back to play tiger 10 and even the caddie love fest that was tiger 12, and the difficulty and hitting is far more real, feeling, I hit my shot as perfect as I can, but there is a little push in there, or a slight natural draw/fade. I loved that, tiger 13 removed near enough all of this. I hope it gets looked at.

This thread has been linked in the official Tiger Woods forum by one of the developers, so they are paying attention. It's worth your time to weigh in on this!

Very true... there's still hope for some refinements though. I really think they need to do something to help the game's atmosphere feel more live.

The career mode and especially the presentation have actually regressed the last couple of years.

If they advertize some inane new Tiger mode (the only way I play a Tiger story mode is if it's some kind of Leisure Suit Larry thing) as the first big feature this year then you know there will be minimal improvements to career and presentation again this year.
This may be the first year they can finally really put emphasis on presentation IMHO. Every year, it seemed they were changing the swing mechanism and te putting mechanism and I believe they finally hit a sweet spot that made most people happy. While they may refine it, they probably won't have to spend so much time on gameplay and focus on things like Career mode and athmosphere which have been severely lacking.

1) The MOVE implementation on the PS3 is terrific. It really feels like a proper golf swing is required to play well. The putting especially is tough but very well done. Please don't change a thing with the MOVE!
2) Coin system - able to get all sorts of free stuff or buy it outright if you want to. Having the choice is good.
3) Graphics and course rendering are great (bring back Harbor Town!)

Dislikes:
1) The mystery drops - hitting it into a bunker should leave me in a bunker, same with the rough. The worst is missing green by a few yards then being dropped 100 yds away on a down slope. Unacceptable - we should have the choice of where to drop the ball if hit into a hazard like real golf and move it on the tee box as well.
2) Pins - I understand the revenue stream where pins are concerned, everybody wants to make money. They ruin the integrity of tournaments however. How can it be a fair fight if I have no previews and my opponent may have as many as 9? That's not golf. If pins are here to stay then I suggest any tournament tour-pro level and higher are no pins period. Go nuts with the AM and Pro modes, but leave Tour Pro and Tournament for those who want a proper golf experience.
3) Random freezing - I know there are lost of issues (hardware, internet connections, bugs) that effect gameplay but the freezing of the consoles (PS3 and XBox) is very annoying and looks really bad on EA.

The new swing mechanic as a foundation for the future of TW

Graphics

All the different shot types we can do combined with hit marker thing.

3 Dislike

Swing Tempo

The new tempo swing it is way to easy to hit the ball straight. This takes away from the game of golf. Look at any pro on tour and most have a slight draw or fade. This really comes into play off the tee. It is WAY to easy to drive the ball in tiger 13. This is because its to easy to hit it straight and its WAY to easy to hit it overswing slow. If you want to hit it slow and straight then you should lose some serious distance. As of now you can hit it 280-300 and text at the same time. To hit the long ball you it should be a give and take. You want 300 plus? Guess what you have to overswing fast and put a slight draw on it. Bascialy make it so there is a risk reward system with the swing. As of now there is little risk at all. The other problem is they made the draw fade so hard to do that everyone hits it straight. The draw and fade should be in the swing and not so much with the feet position. So your tempo and how you swing (over the top or on plane) will produce your swing type.

Aiming Marker and club distances.

Aiming marker has to go and the True Aim has to come back. This was far and a way the best feature you guys came up with. It makes us manage the course. Thus not always knowing where the ball is going to end up. Add this to no distances on the clubs (last I checked my 7 iron does not say 175 on it) instead this is determined by your swing tempo and shot type. You would have to practice and learn what you can do with your clubs. I dont mind writing down what my clubs can do and its fun not knowing the exact the distances of every shot and club. Golf is about not knowing the outcome before you play or take a swing. Its a game than can not be perfected. The joy is always trying to get better or pulling off a great shot. With true aim, the tempo swing and no exact distances on clubs this can be achieved.

Attribute system.

This has to be redone. You should not be able to have 100 power and accuracy. Very unrealistic. Has to be a give and take. How many long drive champions do you see on the PGA tour? You want to bomb the ball? Guess what you have to give accuracy. You want to play GARTS (oblong ref) then guess what you can’t hit it 320 of the tee or have a 160 yard PW. You could also combine recovery with this as well. Also make the putting and spin attribute mean something. Did not seem to do anything in this years game.

I have more but just two side notes.

Please keep live weather in the game and PLEASE give us the option to kick people out of online games!

Ohh and let me buy my XP so I don’t have to play offline if I don’t want to. I have a business and a family I don’t want to work at a video game so I can go play with my friends.

Thanks for reading.

LOFT IT UP

Very good points about the drops and pins. Couldnt agree more. I would find it hard to believe the moving golf ball will be as bad as 13. That would be very bad. Also maybe we could see the other peoples balls? They had that in ps2 days.
