Another NHL 13 tuner has been released, bringing it up to version 1.05. Check out the details below.

Quote:
All Modes
  • Increased goalie ability to stop slower shots from distance.
EASHL Only
  • Goalies ability to move laterally and stop one-timers toned down.*
  • AI Skating attributes in EASHL increased slightly to keep up with User player progression.
* There will still be amazing saves, however, there is now a greater range in how well the goalie may read the play which on average will yield better offensive results on good passing plays than it was in the past.

Three games played with V1.05 in my BEAGM now...and not one wth goal scored by the cpu. Each goal I've allowed seemed fair.

The cpu turn around shots from against the boards 60' out and beating your goalie look to be gone. Or at least toned down greatly.

Just seen the one wth goal from the CPU in about 5 games with this tuner where a weak low backhand wrister from the boards beat my goalie who was hugging the near post and watched the puck trickle past him in off the far post.

Overall though this a real solid game now that i'm really enjoying, penalties feel good although I would maybe like to see a few more just to be perfect.

The only real issue I have left is that i'm struggling with face-offs, with the slider at 4 I win 80% but with the slider at 5 I lose 80%, maybe i'm doing something wrong but at the moment I have it set at 4 and just let the CPU win some here and there to at least keep them around 40%.

What difficulty do you play?
Do you have any adjustments on the CPU Difficulty slider?

I'm not sure, but I guess the latter could be used to tune the face off, unfortunately you're tuning other aspects of the CPU difficulty as well.

Do these tuners include the previous tuners as well? Since playing with 1.05, I only had 2 penalties in my last game. Prior, using 1.04, each team was getting 2-3 each.

If everything works as it should, the changes made are based on the latest tuner.

So 1.05 tuner is 1.04 tuner +/- the changes mentioned.

If it was only one game, I wouldn't worry. I've played a few on 1.05, and had plenty of penalties, just like 1.04

So true, Jez.

NHL [thankfully] varies around so much from game to game, you really don't want to judge anything after just a game or two. Although I'm sure guilty of doing this myself. Yep Jez...if they adjusted the penalties even further, I'd probably start moving the slider down from max. I'm satisfied where we're at now.

I play on All-Star Normal with a few tweaks, CPU dfficulty is at 0. I may increase it just to test whether it affects it, as you say it may affect some other things aswell so might not be a long term solution and i've got a bad enough record as it is so don't want to help the CPU out much more!

Maybe I should just leave the slider at 5 and just get better at face-offs, should happen over time.

new 1.05 Tuner is really good. My only complain is online, too much figure skating. It's getting a bit ridiculous.

Some online kids are turning this simulation into a figure skating championship,. Skating engine should not permit it simply because this is not physically possible to turn left, right, left, right, stop, accelerate like this.

I don't know if they will ever be able to get rid of the slalom skating. I thought the new engine would do the trick but at least it's WAYYY less prevalent than in previous versions.

My NHL 13 is not updating patches? I'm still at 1.01. What's up? PS3. had no problem with Madden 13. When I boot up the game it should automatically pick up update but its not. When I go to latest tuner it says 1.01

You've been playing on 1.01???????

Like ricks said, hit Y (or triangle) to download the newest patch. Get ready to be blown away by the awesome.

Yep Gopher, with V1.04/05...NHL '13' imo is at it's best.

V1.04 really helped nicely with the low penalty issue. And V1.05 has done a good job of making the goalies both Hum/cpu what they should be, imo. If we had never gotten these two tuners, '13' would have been to me anyway...a hockey game that really missed it's potential.

At this point now, I can honestly say NHL '13' is better gameplay wise than I was personally expecting back in very early Sep.

I think people are getting confused about the difference between TUNERS and PATCHES...
This 1.05 is by no means a patch, more so is it a tuner to finetune gameplay issues only. Therefor you have to manually download new tuners and set the game to which one you want to use. Patches on the other hand are still getting downloaded and installed automatically when connected to the internet.

You should have 1.00 1.01 1.02 1.03 1.04 1.05 and latest to choose.

NHL 13 would be ideal with the gameplay of Tuner 1.01 and the penalties of Tuners 1.04 and 1.05. That would be virtual hockey nirvana.

Tuner Set 1.01 provided superb gameplay with minimal slider adjustments. The CPU is far too aggressive and fast in the offensive zone with Tuners 1.04 and 1.05, which exacerbates the brain-dead AI of human's CPU defensemen.

Plus the CPU offense rarely works the puck around or shoots from the circles or half-wall with the two latest tuners. Unrealistic. You saw those offensive strategies and more with Tuner 1.01.

agree with you. It's not as bad as last year. I'm pretty sure they can tone it down a bit with a tuner, no ?

I play with Coach Mode on the 1.05, and combined with Hurdinators coach mode sliders, this game plays very well....EA did a great job with these tuners.

I don't see any difference in EASHL. Goalies are ridiculous still and the poke checks are unbelievable. I played a regular versus game and it was pretty good, but EASHL is a mess. Promotes no defense or passing.

# 39 Clipse79 @ 10/18/12 07:44 PM
The pass interceptions are beyond silly. I saw a player knock down a pass reaching back about waist high at an incredible speed stop on a dime and go full speed back. Words don`t do it justice, I quit the game and need to play with sliders. My guys will have the pump go right by them but the CPU has superhuman powers.

I'm losing 80% of my faceoffs (not an exaggeration in the least). Can't win a game when you can't win a draw. Not sure why this is like this again?
