NBA 2K13 News Post

Just before the release of NBA 2K13, PC users found out the game would only be available on retail disc on release date. Users that want to download the game have to wait until October 16th.

Back in late May, NBA 2K13 PC users found out they were being snubbed from the All-Star Weekend content.

As many NBA 2K13 PC gamers have noticed, these aren't the only things missing from the game. NLSC has posted a list of features missing from the PC version. While the mods are sure to be great, missing the bulk of features found on the console versions, has to be a downer for PC gamers. Below are some of the other missing modes and features for the PC version of NBA 2K13.

Game Modes
  • MyTEAM
  • Preorder All Star Weekend (dunk contest, 3pt contest)
Game Features
  • MyCloset for MyPLAYER
  • VC Currency System (the game uses the console’s “offline” skill point system for MyCAREER)
  • Unlockable Blacktop Stars (on consoles they can be purchased with VC; not in PC version)
Online
  • Playing Against Specific Opponents (including friends)
  • 3-on-3 Blacktop with MyPLAYERs
Graphics
  • Self-Shadowing on Players
  • Advanced Stadium Lighting (colored lights in crowd)

While I don't really care for modes other than exhibition and Association, the lack of features present on consoles is a bummer

The ones that bother me the most are the graphics ommisions. I have no idea why self-shadowing is left out each year. Not sure what the "advanced stadium lighting" is, does that pertain to each arena having different lighting, or just to the lights in the crowd? Either way, lame that its not included.

Kinda reminds me of back in 08. Live 08 on PS3/Xbox 360 was vastly different than the PC version

I'm hoping this is not the beginning of the end for PC basketball gamers... I love playing on the PC cause of all the awesome mods out there that enhances the NBA experience graphically and even though I only play Association or Quick Games it would be nice to have all the features for once even if they sell the PC version at the console price $60 I would still buy it as long as it has all the same features as the 360/PS3.

even without those features 2k13 with mods on PC will look terrific.....there are already some awesome mods over NLSC....

Thanks for taking the time to make this thread Steve.

I still believe the PC version is superior - the essentials are still here.

Only big miss in that list is the ability to purchase a suit for your My Career player.

Anyone think 2K will provide a way for us to at least unlock the blacktop mode players? (yeah i know, wishful thinking)

VC is only online becuz thats wat 2k is using to control hackers and also make a profit at the same time....becuz every time u earn or use VC it uploads to a 2k server so that it cant be hacked..but they gave hackers a way to still cheat but now they gotta pay for it....also thats prolly the reason that theres no crew mode cuz 2k wanted to input this VC stuff as a test to see how it works out and how it would control the hackers once they put crew mode back in.......

but as for pc not getting sum features most stuff i wouldnt mind either way but they might be lucky not to have to deal wit this VC stuff...Id rather have skill points and a money contract any day

There's already VC exploits out though (one on OS in the general 2k13 forums, several on Youtube including by guys who were in the community team), it'll be interesting to see how the hack-savvy X360 guys take VC, I'm willing to bet there will be a VC coins hack before 2k14 comes out.

Yea but how good are the VC exploits becuz the skill point exploits i think were basically wateva amount u wanted wenever u wanted it...The VC exploits i think arr only like a few hundred extra or sumthin and it takes time to do....

And besides this VC thing this year is prolly like a beta test forvwen theyre ready to put crew back in so the prolly want people to try and exploit it to see wat they have to fix

From glancing at OS, there was (as of yesterday) a post about getting 1,000 VC easy when you start a career (it's repeatable and no, I won't say how to do it), there's several videos about how to use blacktop to get several thousand VC in an hour, it isn't just a few hundred VC, it's upwards of a thousand

Game Modes
-I'm mostly an offline gamer, not a fan of the 'ultimate team' mode either, no biggie.
-I'm fine without the All-Star Weekend DLC, I barely play any exhibition games/skill games outside of career mode.

Game Features
-MyCloset is not a gamebreaker or anything, we could do without it
-No VC system? GREAT! I loved the old progression system.
-No unlockable blacktop stars; I've only played Blacktop mode a grand total of two times dating back to 2k9.

Online
-Not an online gamer, none of the exclusions bother me too much

Graphics
-Nothing that the mod community can't do.

So yeah, folks, you're still staring at a pretty decent game for the PC, no worries.

Honestly, the stuff that's missing, i could give a rat's *** about. It's all fluff that i have no interest in anyway. As far as the graphics, that stuff will be fixed in no time by the modders, if it hasnt already. As long as the gameplay is correct and there are no major association bugs, im good.

I skipped NBA 2K13 for PC for the first time it has been available (2K9). I just got tired of getting a half-assed game. I wish the would give the game everything the console gets. I would pay $60 for it. The mods are not good enough to overcome the shortcomings year after year.

like a few on this board, I could care less about the modes and features that are missing, buy I have to wonder, is this writing on the wall that 2K may be abandoning the PC all together.

We should sue 2kSports for hyping all this new stuff and then not tell us that most of it isn't included in the PC version

# 20 Leftos @ 10/14/12 02:30 PM
To be fair, the feature list for the PC version on the website and the box didn't mention any of the stuff that was left out. You can't sue 2K Sports for false marketing.
