If you can't view the embedded video, click here.

Some of you might recall seeing the NHL 13 Hercules Check, a couple of weeks ago.

EA Sports has responded and explains how it actually happens. The end result is quite hilarious.

im in the persuasion that this is "scripted" by EA. they cannot figure out or they cannot "cure" this hercules check. so, they came up with this video to make fun what they cannot tune/or patch to correct.

still funny though... but GENIUS way to deflect the "boo-boo"

I really don't understand how everyone finds this so funny. What the NHL team should be focused on is how they put out a broken game every year.

Amusing. Good to see they can laugh at themselves and have fun.

In the past it's been very problematic, hence why I played little to none of NHL 11 and 12. But this year's version, while with it's own problems, is very playable and exciting. It's far from perfect, but a lot of people, myself included, seem to be having fun with it.

IF this NHL 13 is broken like NHL 12 then I WILL BE UPSET with this hercules check. but because EA did something, imho, great job in updating the penalty issues and new skating engine that works, this glitch is a slide of humor specially how EA responded to it.

NHL 13 is far from being perfect but towards the right direction. something then can build on, like the way they invented the Right analog stick as your hockey stick.

Smart strategy by EA of having a good joke with what is a blood-churning glitch. Hillarious.

Fine. But just remember this. Next time you're at work, you are NEVER, EVER alllowed to have ANY fun. Ever.

Lighten up, man. It's just a game.

Broken? Are you kidding me? The NHL series is an amazing game (very little difference from year to year, but an amazing game none the less).

And this clip is great!!

That is a much better Hercules check.

That's pretty good. See the hercules check and some of the other absurd physics things that happen are just something I laugh at. It doesn't happen that often, hell I don't even think I've seen something like that yet. It's not like the whole physics engine is completely broken (although needs improvement) just because of a few weird animations. That crap happens in games. It's not as serious of an issue as some other problems with the game IMO. I just kind of take the weird physics and laugh it off. Surprisingly it's one of the few things that I don't get too pissed about with this game.

So, instead of fixing a bug they make a video making a joke about it?

My point is why does this game get a pass? If this was Madden, NCAA Football, or NBA Live people would be going nuts calling for heads to roll. To be honest, this game isn't good enough to joke about this stuff. I believe that the NHL team is content with their game year in and year out because we (the fans) don't encourage them enough to improve this game. As a result, we are handed an unfinished above average game. This game should be great, not just slightly above average.

People are honestly flipping out about this? I've played over 100 games and never saw this once. It's not that big of a deal, and it's actually funny. It in no way hinders gameplay and if you think past NHL games have gotten passes then you haven't been on operation sports. I really feel for developers in this day and age. There are lots more code than their used to be and if they make one mistake (even if it's barely noticeable) people act like you're beating their dog, mother, and sister. NHL 13 is a heck of a lot better than their past games. If you don't like the hercules check, then don't do it, the cpu doesn't do it and EA isn't forcing you to play that way.

The hercules check happened because he was checked into the bench right when another player was coming onto the ice, so physics went crazy. Every EA game has crazy physics, first it was FIFA, now Madden, even Tiger Woods has crazy times where if ur ball hits the flag pole it will rocket to the moon 100 yds away.

I've never seen this bug because it's such a rare situation that has to be set up for it to occur (line change at the same time you are performing a hip check near the benches).

There are definitely some bugs in this game, but this is not really a significant one due to how rare it is that you'd actually see it occur during a game.

I think the hitting power slider is TOO effective. Whenever I have it over 3, I see more "fish flopping" hits, or the player bounces on his head after a hit, etc. With it at 3 or less, it's not as bad.

The bizarre hits are rare, I've seen one in my entire time playing.

Still though, hitting is very buggy this year. Now that penalties are better, I think hitting is the #1 issue with the game. This particular thing is just a quirk but that doesn't change the fact that the physics have taken a huge step back this year.

Fantastic work from EA Vancouver. Clearly not every EA Studio is filled with soulless *******s
