NHL 13 News Post

Another NHL 13 tuner update has been released (1.03), details below.

Name: Tuner 1.03

Date: 09/21/2012

Notes:

EASHL Only
  • Increased AI goalie glove and stick high ratings
  • Slightly lowered wrist shot accuracy
  • Increased AI goalie rebound control
  • Decreased AI ability to make long stretch passes when Users were calling for a pass.
BAP

Reverted the previous tuner change that fixed the issue where players were only starting their BAP shift at a faceoff since it raised the chance of a crash. We are continuing to look for an alternate fix for how to allow Users to start shifts mid play.

So does 1.03 feel like 1.01 or 1.02?

We played against two players rated under 55 that just hit slap shots all game. They got a goal on an accidental wrister from the high slot that wasn't even aimed and slid in 5 hole and a pass that went in off a deflection off of a D-mans stick. We were trying everything possible and couldn't get anything by the goalie. Hopefully they give something back to make it a bit easier to score in the next tuner.
That's funny, because I just played and offline game with 1.03 as the Leafs against the Blackhawks and the score was 7-5 for me. I use shot accuracy at 0, goalie reaction at 5, and all-star level. Every goal but one was scored high glove or high stick side. The one that wasn't was a rebound goal. I would take a 1-2 game any day.

Does anyone else feel that this tuner made the game easier? I've hardly been challenged today in 5 games on all star.

I feel that way as well. I also think that the goalies still need a lot of work, top of the circle wrist shot glove side goes in 7 out of 10 times no problem.

I agree.

I understand they [EAC] wanted shots from the higher percentage areas to be more effective this year but...overdone imo.

I felt that using Tuner 1.02 in Be A Pro I would be able to sim to next shifts without any problems, even mid shift. However after going to 1.03 I no longer can sim as soon as I get off the ice. It would always be at a faceoff.

I played a few games with 1.03 and felt like everything was jacked up. Speed and hits seemed out of control. Had to mess with sliders and still not happy. Seemed like CPU got a boost again. I really think any sliders that are even or a boost to CPU are bad moves. This game is really designed with a built in CPU boost and cheese moves. You think your AI would be smarter but no!

1.02 and 1.03 are terrible. They did something in 1.02 which pretty much ruined the offline play. Play with 1.00 or 1.01, they're much better and I don't think there's any difference between them...

Yep Taku, right now I'm using 1.00.

Kinda suxs feeling like ya can't use the latest tuner...but I really didn't like what I was seeing outta 1.02/1.03 either. Not sure how/why, but the game just seems to play more evenly with 1.00. Placebo effect? Myself now...not really sure. But I guess I'll just go with what at least seems to be better for me, too.

I agree Vikes1!! 1.03 made the game a score fest as all I had to do was take any shot high glove or stick side and it was in. I play with 1.01 and like how it plays, so until EA comes out with a tuner that specifically is for offline with the penalty tuned, I am just going to quit using the new one. I wish they would just read some threads here and realize that we are not asking for the world, just freaking more penalties!!!

I did not mind 1.02. Maybe i`ll go back to 1.00 and see what happens.

1.03 works wonders with manual aim. I have always been using 1.01 but decided to give 1.03 a try. LOVED the game play and the CPU aggression but didnt like it cause i was scoring at will ... changed from auto to manual aim and it is the BEST hockey game I have ever played. I have played 3 games so far and only 1 goal i have scored has gone in short side. I won 5-2 then lost 2-1 and 4-2

I'm pretty sure the penalty issue is not going to be solved with a tuner update. It has to be something in the code of the game that could only be solved with a patch, and EA is not very prolific with there NHL patches.

I have no clue what 1.04 did but I still crash after games I win in any game mode so didn't do much.

They claim they fixed the long passes the AI makes when called for by a human but I haven't seen it. It's just the same old nonsense.

Played 2 great game as the Leafs. Tuner 1.01. Beat the Devil's 2-1 in a shootout with Reimer in net, and beat Anaheim 3-2 with Kipper in net. (I know, great trade for the Leafs )

I am using all accuracies at 0 and goalie reaction at 5 for both. These are the last 2 games, but with 1.03 I was winning 7-5 and 9-8 so I am excited about this. Also with 1.03 and manual aim, I could score top corner at will.

I also tried something different, but only have 2 games so far to base it on. I raised pass accuracy for both to 5, and the last 2 games I finally kept the CPU to under 80% passing, as a matter of fact the Devils were 74%. Again, these may just be a fluke and I am not going to claim I have figured something out, but the explanation says raising it brings attributes and situation more into effect, so by that logic, someone like George Parros should have a harder time passing than say Pavel Datsyuk. So far it seems to work, it also seems like when I am pressuring the CPU with a hard forecheck, they tend to turn over the puck a bit more.

Again, only 2 games in and I am not claiming this is law , but it seems to have helped loosen up the game for me.

This actually seems like a very valid point. The 'Info' on Pass Accuracy says, "Adjusting this will affect how game circumstances and attributes of the player influence a successful pass." Idk.. who knows. I wish EA would explain the working of their sliders more coherently.. they're so complex and there's so many things to consider it's hard to tell what does what sometimes.
