NHL 13 Soundtrack Replicates Authentic In-Arena Hockey Experience

Soundtrack Includes 16 Tracks from Artists Such as Gaslight Anthem, Bassnectar, and The Offspring

EA SPORTS™ announced today the official NHL®13 soundtrack, featuring 16 licensed tracks by established and upcoming artists from around the world. The music selected for the soundtrack, in conjunction with the extensive presentation overhaul undertaken in NHL 13, ensures the game looks, plays and sounds like an authentic NHL® hockey experience. Promising the biggest change to the franchise on this console generation, NHL 13 will be available on September 11, 2012 in North America and September 14, 2012 in Europe.

“The true NHL hockey experience is about speed, power and creativity,” said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing for EA. “To create its sonic counterpart, our soundtrack features a mix of well-known bands like Gaslight Anthem, Anti-Flag and The Offspring, up-and-comers that include Battleme and Canada’s Classified and Monster Truck, and arena favorites like Zombie Nation’s ‘Kernkraft 400’ and Bassnectar’s ‘Pennywise Tribute’. We think fans will agree that this is the new sound of NHL hockey.”

The complete NHL 13 soundtrack includes:

haha Foxy Shazam - I like it. It is a great song, but kind of an odd selection for a hockey game

Battleme is amazing, so glad to have 'em in the game!

Classified is the man. Best Canadian rapper. Don't know how he was in Madden before NHL. Sad that none of Billy Talent's new album was in this years version. Always love the NHL soundtrack, I have gotten so much great music from NHL like Billy Talent, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Tide, Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, and so many others.

Foxy has to be censored which is going to suck.

Be like Madden and do your own soundtrack again. This crap is crap. Thank god for custom soundtracks, i'll just put old nhl music on it.

The Gaslight Anthem! Awesome, my favorite band makes it on to one of my favorite games.

It's so ****ing strange seeing them blow up the past few years. Good on 'em though.

After the initial setup of the game I'll never hear these songs again. I'll change it to custom music and never look back.

I've gotten abunch of songs from past NHL games I'm gonna use in my custom soundtrack this year, but I'm gonna listen to these songs too and see if any of them, I like enough to keep in the game.

i am kind of upset that they used a remix of the pennywise song (coming from a fan of listening to them for almost 20 years) the song holds to much of a meaning to a lot of people to have been used this way!

Probably because pennywise is terrible.

Cool list, I guess.

I didnt think I'd like Madden getting rid of their soundtrack, but I really enjoy playing the game without songs like this. Wouldn't be surprised to see NHL go that way in the future possibly.

Either way, it doesn't matter much to me.

What did Madden do? Just generic "NFL" music playing constantly in the background?

It's EA being authentic to the real game. Go to every NHL arena and that's what they do, play music throughout the game. Imagine if they took away that from games, how boring and less exciting would that be? Can't see them doing this at all.

Mix in NHL 98 and NHL 96 (PC Version) music, and you're golden.

Anyways, despite my indifference for hip-hop, Classified's track is solid. As a big Foxy Shazam fan (thanks to their song in NHL 11), I would have thought their opening track from their new album (Welcome To The Church of Rock & Roll) would have been a better addition (to add, the song nature of 'I Like It' will cause some heavy censoring; although Classified's will be too).

Listened to most of the tracks, and it's another good soundtrack. Even with that, thank god for the customized music options we have these days.

That's why custom soundtracks are there. I could see EA losing them to save time and money on something the customers can fill in to their liking.
