NBA 2K13 News Post

The '92 Dream Team & 2012 Olympic team will be featured in NBA 2K13. Charles Barkley is in, but Scottie Pippen couldn't get a deal worked out.

It's cool we get to battle it out between these 2 teams, but with Pippen off the roster, it puts a definite blemish on the announcement.

NBA 2K13 to Feature 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team and Legendary 1992 "Dream Team"

2K Sports proudly announces partnership with USA Basketball for NBA 2K13

2K Sports today announced a partnership with USA Basketball to feature both the star-studded 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team and the 1992 “Dream Team” in NBA 2K13, the next installment of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*.

“As executive producer, letting fans go head to head with these legendary USA teams was extremely important to JAY Z,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “We are excited to partner with USA Basketball, and share in JAY Z’s enthusiasm in making this a reality in NBA 2K13.”

The 2012 USA Basketball Men’s National Team has earned recognition as one of USA Basketball’s all-time greatest teams. NBA 2K13 cover athlete Kevin Durant helped lead the USA to its successful showing and joins the elite list of accomplished basketball players who have represented USA Basketball.

“It was an incredible blessing to have been part of the 2012 USA Basketball National Team,” said Durant. “USA Basketball's National Team legacy is incredible and so many of basketball’s all-time greats have been part of it, I’m just honored to be in that group. Like everybody, I can’t wait to see how our squad stacks up against the 1992 team in NBA 2K13.”

The original “Dream Team” is widely considered the most dominant sports team ever assembled, and featured 11 Hall of Fame players including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, David Robinson and Charles Barkley.

“The experience we shared in Barcelona is truly one of the highlights of my career,” said five-time NBA MVP and former NBA 2K cover athlete Michael Jordan. “Being able to represent not only my country but basketball as a whole is an honor that I will never forget.”

“The fantasy matchup between the legendary 1992 ‘Dream Team’ and the 2012 USA Men’s national team has become one of the greatest sports debates of our time,” stated JAY Z, the Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. “In NBA 2K13, we’re giving fans the opportunity to play as two of the best teams ever assembled in sporting history, literally putting the debate right into their hands.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio, NBA 2K13 is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available on October 2, 2012 in North America and October 5, 2012 internationally for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii™ system and Windows PC. The Wii U™ version of the title will be available during the holiday season. If he isn't on the dream team then he probably just isn't in the game at all, or not necessarily?

Classic stuff sells well. 2K has done very well with Legends the last few years as the focal point of the game. I know this is off topic but WWE is selling their game this year on the late 90s and early 00s cos it trumps the hell out of the current day WWE. People enjoy the classic stuff and being able to use Jordan, Bird, Magic and whoever.

I honestly didn't expect much from this announcement when Ronnie mentioned that there will be no news about Online, Associations, Crew, etc...

Like someone mentioned earlier, how many times will you actually use these teams. I don't even like playing with the top teams in the game let alone one packed with Legends or All-Stars...

Too bad Pippen is not there...BUT we havee BARKLEY!!!! Anything less would be uncivilized ;-)

2K13 is rocking right now!

Well, they said they couldn't reach a licensing deal with him so it would seem that he's not in the game altogether.

If he were indeed in the game though not on the Dream Team, someone from 2K would likely be on here to clarify that.

The thing is, thats just YOU

I dont think 2k ever sold so many copies before adding the legend teams and its been consecutive years, so they're satisfying alot of people and doing good business at the same time

Selling 5 million copies of 2k12 tells me all of this crew crap yall keep talking about didnt matter as much as you think it did

Like I said before, it probably cost too much money to put him on the dream team. I'm sure it cost more money to put players on the dream team than classic teams. What we can do is move Pippen form the classic Bull's team onto the dream team. That simple.

Wow some people a really picky....I think this great news. I don't play the PC mods. I play a Playstation 3. This is really exciting for me. Everyone (and from a majority of the posts I've read have this sentiment) seems to want to poo poo on this. I wasn't expecting this to be part of the package but I'm sure glad it is.

Would really be nice to see what other classic teams (if any) and players are added. That FIBA 2K12 mod I saw on youtube would be a great addition game. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but dare I say maybe they can even include it Association....only time will tell. Great job 2K.

Not that simple, you don't even know if he will be on the Bulls team, as for now everything suggests that Pippen won't be in the game

Yeah makes a lot of sense. They couldn't reach a deal with the guy who filed for Chapter 11. The production budget of this game is essentially one of the biggest in the sports industry, pay the man what he wants and do it properly. Either get it 100% or don't do it at all!

Also, the fact that every one of these players was a shoe contracted player, and in the screenshot all except 3 are wearing those generic shoes is a joke!

Finally, if we can't use these teams online, this mode will be rendered useless for a lot of people, myself included.

Without Pip, its not the dream team.
It takes the "HUGE" out of the announcement.

Crossing my fingers hoping they can get a deal done before release.

Well then hex editors can just hex him onto the dream team I hope.

Have you seen the size of his body builder arms? LOL

On the other hand, many members like Malone, Robinson, Stockton, Ewing are rocking their older looks, these guys should look younger. Bird has his '84 mustache look too LOL

no offense to 2k, but this was the greatest basketball game ever made:

Glad Barkley's finally in 2k13, but it still won't match the greatness that was Shut Up and Jam!

Seriously with all this crew stuff in EVERY 2K thread man. These are usually the same dudes popping up with their "it's just a freaking headband/shoe/arena" posts in other people's threads. Do you dudes realize how many people that play 2K don't even have internet or a stable enough connection to allow for online gaming? GTFOH with this crew stuff in every thread.

Not really the point though is it?

2k package an announcement as "huge" but fail to provide everything that is a part of that team. You can hardly call an incomplete team a "huge" announcement. 2k should really aim to provide something that doesnt require editing. So people can play the game. While that's an impossible task, it kind of feels like there not even trying anymore, cause they just assume someone will edit it in.

I've always criticised people who complain about shoes, accesories and stuff not being in, cause those are fluid things that change IRL all the time. I've been a big 2k defender. But to provide a team, call it a huge feature, but then say "although it's not actually the full team" is a big let down to the community.
