Madden NFL 13 News Post

The official Playstation Blogcast (roughly at the 18:18 point) announced the Madden NFL 13 demo arrives on Tuesday, August 14th for PS3 and Vita, which means 360 owners should see the demo that morning.

No details have been announced, but at least we know the release date.

Thanks to iloveparkmin for the earlier link.

UPDATE: Madden NFL 13 demo details

The Madden NFL 13 demo includes the New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Redskins.

UPDATE #2: You can choose difficulty settings. 5 min quarters and it's an entire game. It will also have full commentary. No sliders this year. You can change play style between game flow and conventional.

The Madden NFL 13 demo offers two Play Now matchups. One features the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants visiting the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship game. The other involves the Seattle Seahawks traveling to the Washington Redskins, who are of course led by rookie QB Robert Griffin III. And before you step onto the field for either of these matchups, you’ll get to check out the redesigned pregame presentation. That includes a broadcast TV-inspired segment that features some top players in the upcoming game you’re about to play, and is followed by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in the booth talking about the story of the game.

On the field, you have access to everything that’s new in Madden NFL 13. This includes Total Control Passing to accurately place the ball anywhere on the field as the QB; the Ball Hawk mechanic to aggressively play the ball in the air as a defender; play action abort to cancel out of a play action when sensing pressure as a QB; use of Kinect (Xbox 360 only) to control pre-play audibles and adjustments with your voice; and of course the Infinity Engine that brings physics you can feel on every play.

We also encourage you to use the Madden NFL 13 demo to create yourself with a Game Face for use in the full version of the game on August 28th. This year marks the first time you will be able to put yourself in the game as a player or coach using your Game Face before leading a virtual version of yourself to gridiron glory. I think Seattle was only in the demo just to show off their new uniforms

FYI, you can choose difficulty settings. 5 min quarters and it's an entire game. Will add to OP.

Updated OP again. Full commentary included.

Sounds good. I wish it was at least 7 minute quarters, but being able to change difficulty and 4 teams is nice. Plus my Niners are one of them.

Pumped to try it out, hope it lives up to the hype. We'll see.

Nice demo. They must be pretty confident to let us play a full game.

Really? Just be happy with 5 minute quarters... It's a demo.
That said, go Niners!

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with wanting more. I am happy though, it's more than I expected.

LOL you can't overplay the demo with 5 minute quarters? I just felt with 5 minute quarters, you have a solid drive and you're almost at halftime. Either way, it is just a demo, can't be too picky. Game will be out 2 weeks from today for those with Season Ticket.

From Shopmaster on Twitter

@Shopmaster: @BrandnIrwin @steve_os So it's basically you hold down the catch button and the defender you're controlling moves in to make a play on the ball

It's a rematch, not a replay.

I would normally be stoked for the Madden demo , but multiply that by 10 with the Hawks being one of the teams in the demo.

Damn, this is good stuff. Don't care about the teams involved but virtually a full fame, full commentary and every gameplay nuance (I assume presentation nuances, as well) slated for the retail version? Noice. I just wished they coulda gave us a full month with this demo, tho. I may even pony up to extend my early pass since I won't be paying full price for the game, anyway (gotta love trade-ins and store credits).

Oh, did I mention the word 'full', enough?

I count this as a plus to practice with my team 2 weeks before the game comes out.

About freaking time!!

Am I alone when I say the pre-game intro with the individual players posing for the camera is painfully cheesy? I'll be button-mashing through that.

Can't wait I just wish the Lions were one of the teams

I think it's alright if it's not all the time as it lines up with how the NFL has done prime time games before.

In fact, I thought that sometime early in the process it was said that those presentations would only be for prime time games. I wonder if that is how it will work and we're only seeing it so much to show it off as new?

As for the demo itself, I must say I'm pleased with how much they seem to be offering compared to the usual. Hopefully that means it'll better represent the final product (in terms of "build," I mean).
