Madden NFL 13 News Post

Voting has begun to determine the fastest quarterback in Madden NFL 13. For the remainder of the week, we'll see polls for throwing power, accuracy and awareness.

The four-week campaign allows fans to vote on attributes like speed, elusiveness, hit power and more. The winner of each vote will be the highest-rated player for that attribute at their position in Madden NFL 13.

Upcoming weeks will focus on running backs, wide receivers and defenders, with the winners in each category announced every Friday. Here is the voting schedule breakdown:
  • July 30 – Aug 3: Quarterbacks – Speed, Throw Power, Throw Accuracy, Awareness
  • Aug 6 – 10: Running Backs – Speed, Acceleration, Trucking, Elusiveness
  • Aug 13 – 17: Wide Receivers & Tight Ends – Speed, Spectacular Catch, Route Running, Agility
  • Aug 20 – 24: Defense – Speed, Hit Power, Tackling, Man Coverage
  • Aug 24: Offensive Line, Special Teams and Overall Team Ratings
Not only will each winner receive a boost in their attributes in Madden NFL 13, but they’ll also be immortalized with a special card in Madden Ultimate Team. Fans who collect the cards of every winning player will be able to add them to a collection which will unlock a special Madden Ultimate Team reward in Madden NFL 13.

So the question is... Who should be the fastest QB in Madden NFL 13?
  • Michael Vick
  • Robert Griffin III
  • Terrelle Pryor

So fans get to decide players ratings in the game now????? LMFAO & EA wonders y ppl dont buy their games anymore.... This is a joke!!!!

I don't know what's worse, the fact that Pryor is on this list or the fact that "fans" get to influence ratings. Oh and we can't edit them to correct the popular vote.

So dumb. With RB's for instance, Chris Johnson is obviously the fastest. Why even risk jeopardizing that? Makes no sense.

Well, hey, you did say based off their fastest known times. Now you're saying forget about the known times?

I don't know what kind of times Vick is turning over at 31, but Darrell Green was still running 4.3s into his late 30s. It's not inconceivable that Vick can still beat 4.4 ...

But 40 times aside, just looking at what I've seen. I'd still give it to Vick. I know that RGIII is a world class sprinter, but I when I've seen him in pads, he doesn't look any faster at top speed than Vick at 31. Maybe he is, but I don't think it's a hands down argument.

I've yet to see any evidence of him slowing down. Track speed and football speed are two very different things. Very few players let alone QBs are faster on the field than Vick. 30+ or not.

if this is up to the fans then tim tebow will probably have the fastest rating. dude has a cult following, hopefully this doesnt happen.

It's Madden, with all its accompanying baggage, so I guess the mild outrage about the fan input is inevitable, but it's really much ado about nothing. Dewiel has already laid it out there. Donny, using whatever methodology he does, has already decided that all these guys are, lets say, 95 Spd. So EA lets the fans choose, and it ends up being 96, 95, 94.

There has been no real change to what they were going to give these players anyway. The fans aren't getting to choose the actual numbers or which players are in the voting, just getting to most likely cause an change of +1 or -1 to a few guys in a few different categories. The whole thing is quite innocuous.

If one wants to question their methodology for getting to that starting number for the three individuals they put in the poll, well that's a totally different argument altogether.

The broken leg was in his 3rd year, and when he came back you couldn't see any difference in his speed. His first game back he ran up, through, and around the Panthers for 141 yards.

Not disputing that he's got his share of wear and tear, only that there is precedent for a freakish athlete like this holding onto his speed deep into his career. I certainly can't see much drop off when he gets into the open field.

I don't like this voting idea at all.

To me it seems like EA trying to make up for not allowing users to edit players.

Wow, you are on a roll today!! I might as well not post, because I agree with everything you say and you state it much better than I would!! Totally agree about some universal rating. People aren't having a big to-do because it's a 1 pt difference between fastest to 2nd fastest players, it's just the tools to get there, which is the fans voting. It's the actuality of letting fans vote rather than the actual significance that the vote will cause.

I don't know. They did the same thing a couple years ago during the draft with the rookies. It was even worse then because they allowed you to vote and bump certain ratings either plus or minus five.

Wait a second, fans are deciding player ratings but we can't even edit players on the game to fix this obvious blunder?? What is Madden doing?! Have these guys lost their freaking minds?

# 36 FaM0us Skins @ 07/31/12 02:47 AM
This voting is pointless. How can you debate on who is the fastest quarterback in the NFL?

It has nothing to do with that, it's simply marketing and a way to stir up Madden in people's conversation leading up to the release. That's all.

And really, I don't see the issue here. Realistically, the three choices speed ratings would likely be no more than 2 rating points apart regardless of if Donny chose it or if it was left up to vote. Since so many people on this site have a problem with Donny's ratings in the first place, I don't see why this makes things any worse...

# 38 sputney23 @ 07/31/12 10:14 AM
Im going with Vick.. He is so explosive and his ability to make people miss while moving at full speed is amazing.. He is also quicker

# 39 ps2sportgamer @ 07/31/12 10:32 AM
They are PROBABLY asking for a "speed" rating, (1. RGIII/Pryor, 2. Vick)

Not Agility rating (Vick, RGIII, Pryor)

Pryor doesnt really have good agility, just straight-line speed, so the other QB's "seem faster"

# 40 CoRRuPTMiND93 @ 07/31/12 11:25 AM
Straight Line speed = RG3 Elusiveness+Quickness= Mike Vick
