Wait, so 2k is saying that Blake Griffin is better than...
Lamarcus Aldridge, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol, Amare Stoudemire, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Kevin Garnett...

I have a problem with that. All of the guys I listed either have a post game, play defense, or both, which Griffin does NOT have at all. I think even Derrick Favors is a better power forward than Griffin, Favors at least plays defense...

Not saying that Blake Griffin is better than all of those guys. But majority of non-basketball people believe he is because of the hype. Heck the dude started in the All-Star game this season.

Jeremy Lin will be on the overrated list in NBA 2k14 because he will be voted in the Allstar game this year.

@TyKlug
Your argument is invalid, you're making it seem as anyone that plays defense is better than Griffin. Serge Ibaka plays defense hitting the occasional jump shot, does that make him better?

Blake averaged 20 PPG and 10.9 RPG. at LEAST an 85 for you people making him out to be nothing but a dunker. I'm sure Blake didn't dunk the ball 10 times a game and I know the foul line didn't help with him shooting at 50-60%.

i don't care if kd is 95 as long as he doesn't have a massive dunk and vertical rating. and besides, the rating system could have changed. all i know is wade is not a 94.

If that picture is from 2k13 they damn better fix the Clippers uniforms. According to them our colors are White, Pinkish Red, and Baby Blue.

# 47 jpw95 @ 07/11/12 10:52 PM
KD deserves a 95, he is better than D-Wade and D-Wade was a 95 on 2K12.
I really hope they lower Wade's ratings on 2K13, he isn't the 2nd best player in the NBA and really isn't even a top 5 guy now.

# 48 Hornetz @ 07/11/12 11:56 PM
Man I gotta say KD is easily the second best player and best scorer in the league and its hard for me to say that because of my strong dislike for the Thunder (even though I live in Oklahoma). To me his rating is not the issue but the extra attributes other that they boost to get to that rating which could face inaccuracies.

Actually, I would take Ibaka over Griffin. Ibaka has a better jumper, sends a lot of shots away, but they both lack a good post game.

About Favors being better than Blake though... I'm a big Jazz fan, and watch a lot of their games. Being in Utah and playing in a loaded frontcourt, Favors doesn't get a whole lot of the spotlight. Favors can rebound just as well as Blake, and is a better defender. He can knock down a few jumpshots here and there, but he's mainly an under the basket scorer like Griffin. If Favors wasn't in Utah, and if he had a chance to get 28+ minutes a game, he would well be on his way to an all-star game.

Blake averages 20+ because LAC lacks a true post. He also goes to the line often. He may not hit all of his free throws, but he does get to the line.

If Blake can improve his low post game and becomes a better defender, then I'll say he's top 5.

Noooo, he has one post move which isn't even a good move. If you think he has a good post game go back and watch the playoffs all his buckets came from attack the basket or going to the line 80% of the time

blake griffin does score a decent percentage of his points in the post with his back to the basket.. His post game isnt great by any means. Its ok and can be improved on.

here are some examples... :33, 1:08, 1:16 so no all of his points werent from freethrows and attacking the basket.

and smh at the guy who said he would take ibaka over griffin.

  • I really want to see how D.Rose will be rated. He should be a 93. I have a feeling Deron Williams will be highly overrated
  • Westbrook will be a 91
Im sorry.....i agree with most of that besides the kobe being a 94-95 with the injury, he had a terrible season last year despite being second in the scoring area. Horrible % to what hes accustomed to, Very inconsistent....having the season he had last year + the injuries i say he should be a 91-92 on release day

Same for Rose great talent but if you cant stay on the floor you donr deserve that rating so for him a 90

Sorry but you're wrong... Durant dunks on people a lot.. You just aren't paying attention.

And this is also for anybody else who thinks Durant doesn't dunk on people..

KD Dunking on Pau Gasol

KD Destroying Roy Hibbert

Slam on Timmy Duncan

On Joel Anthony and Bosh

These are basically all on 7 footers too..

These are only a few examples, but it makes my point. Durant is known for some nasty dunks on people. By the way, Russell Westbrook should have a high dunk rating too. I can post videos of that as well if u don't believe me.

Please stop using numerical values when determining the 'OVERALL' ratings of players. This will change the 'This player is rated too high, or this player is rated too low' conversations that clutter 2K threads everywhere. I personally would love to see a meter, similar to how THE SHOW does their ratings. On The Show, you cannot visibly tell if Player A is better than Player B...all I'll see is that both players are pretty darn good and this ratings talk will stop others questioning the credibility of the 2K INSIDER and the team.

Thanks!

Is one player always better than another? Nope. Most of the time one player is better at some things and the other is better at others.

Plus, isn't it up to the PLAYERS of NBA 2K to PROVE who's better?

But, alas, what does it matter. As long as the casual fan keeps buying, there is no incentive to improve.

Ha! I LAUGH IN THE FACE OF RATINGS ON NBA 2K!!!!... It also doesn't mean too much if the players don't actually play like the real life counterparts??? Speaking of which; WHY IS KEVIN DURANT LOOKING LIKE THAT!!!!!?????? THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE KEVIN DURANT!! I HOPE HE IS NOT LOOKING LIKE THAT IN 2K13? WHY IS HE THE SAME SIZE AS SERGE IBAKA??????!!!!!!! KEVIN DURANT DOES NOT HAVE MUSCLES AND HE IS NOT RIPPED WHY DOES HIS TRICEPS BULGE OUT LIKE HE IS RIPPED? HE IS BONY!!!!

I actually found somewhere that Blake Griffin takes 79% of his shots within 3 feet of the rim, {I was trying to prove a point to a friend} sadly I can't find that link, so my words are just words, but Blake Griffin is buns. This is the word for word breakdown of a Blake Griffin post up sequence...

Blake receives the ball with his back to the basket.
Blake turns and faces up, still without a dribble.
Blake dribbles once before attacking.
Once attacking Blake then performs a spin move {regardless if it works}
Blake throws up some random shot at the basket and prays for it to go in.

====

Sounds about right. Anyway, Blake at 87 is ridiculous as everyone has noted. The guy is extremely overrated. If Blake Griffin is an 87..

Lamarcus Aldridge is a 92.
Al Jefferson is a 92.
Pau Gasol is an 88.
Kevin Love is a 93.
Chris Bosh is a 89.
Serge Ibaka is a 90.
Dirk Nowitzki is a 92.

And there may be others but, none of the ratings above would be true either, that is solely based on Blake being a 87. Last year when 2K12 released, I remember Dirk being an 85, which I kinda felt at the time was a fair assessment simply because even after his playoff performance, it was only a one time thing. Given Dirk's defense, jumping ability and rebounding I thought 85 was good but I would've had no problem with him being an 88. Blake Griffin however, with his lack of OFFENSIVE ability (everything excluding jumping and dunking), his defensive ability which is to me, still non-existent (0.9 bpg; Omar Asik average 1.0 on 17 less minutes) I find this 87 rating for Blake Griffin completely out of line. It's very annoying how people are judging this player solely based on the SportsCenter Blake Top 10 highlights... This guy is an athletic freak, he's not a very good basketball player yet. We can harp on Tim Tebow because he can't do anything (mainly pass haha) but run around and win the game but we can't do the same for Blake Griffin when all he does is catch lobs and dunk on dumbfounded opponents. Come on America.

# 59 FedExPope @ 07/12/12 05:26 PM
87 for Griffin huh? I guess they're making up offensive capabilities he doesn't have IRL. Hell even Josh Smith, who also relies too heavily on his athleticism to do anything, is a better PF than Griffin.

Durant's rating is pretty good, but his defense isn't at an elite level yet. I'm scared to see Westbrook, Bryant and Wade's respective individual and overall ratings.

From Spurs Nation/Bills Backer Clubhouse
Kevin Love is considered to be the greatest outlet passer since Wes Unseld, I don't think BG is a better passer than he is..?
