If you haven't noticed, it's All-Star week around here at OS. So to go along with that theme, and also because I'm a few articles short (hello, dear editors) as the soccer games haven't picked up steam yet, here's your cursory All-Star article.

Now, it'd be easy to do an All-Star team of the best players in The Show, but that wouldn't be much fun, would it? All you have to do is rank players by attributes and voila, the best guys rise to the top. It's so easy that anybody—like, say, a soccer writer-- can do it. Instead, how about those players that aren't at the superstar level, but oftentimes play above what their attributes indicate? Now that's a better basis for an article. And it's more fun because ten different people may pick ten different players to be on this team -- everybody's got their own surprising overachievers.

So here we are, a team of unsung all stars who can quietly go about their business and still contribute immensely in The Show. Two things first: One, I use Knight165's OSFM rosters; and two, to reiterate, in this team are guys who are just a notch below the all-star level, but for whatever reason I find suit my playing style and outperform expectations -- so no Verlanders, Hamiltons or Vottos here.

Excellent.

This should be a "go-to" guide, in your franchise, if you're looking for a player with experience to upgrade your team.

For me....it's Suzuki and Jennings.
...and now I'll have to look at Anderson and Crain as possibilities as well.

Nicely done.

traded Mark Melancon for Yuniel Escobar and he came in 3rd for batting title, major upgrade over Punto.

Add Geoff Blum to that list, he's been absolutely fabulous in my Franchise. It's hard for me to keep him on my bench, he keeps fighting his way into my starting lineup.

Once again, James McDonald gets no love.

Great write up, I'd love to see another come football season. Kurt Suzuki always plays well in my A's lineup, but Anderson is rather hit or miss. I wish I could afford Desmond Jennings for my squad, but alas, we're broke.

I watched Desmond Jennings play football in high school so many times. I was in elementary/middle school then and forgot about him until I saw him playing for the Rays, he's definitely a go to guy for me in the show haha Great article mam.

Adam Lind an Unsung all star? He did have great seasons, but hasn't been great in past little while.

If I were to have a Jays 1B on that list, it'd be Encarnación. Dating back to 2011, he's had 40 home runs,113 RBIS and is batting .281(in 217 combined games). This year alone with 23HR,58RBI and .295 batting average.

Trade value would have been real low for him in the game, and he only costs 3.5M(to think, him at 3.5M is producing 9HR,8RBI and .027 better than a certain guy named Pujols earning 12M this season)

Great article! I'm not even a baseball fan, but if I were, I'd be looking for these players in my franchises!

I have always pitched really well with Darren Oliver, and hit well with Maicer Izturis.

Nice read!

I can attest to the "below the radar", quality / consistency of Suzuki and Anderson...

Got top notch performance in both played and simmed games...

Well, at least until their contracts were up and I "Moneyballed" them to the Cubs and Phils, respectively...
