NCAA Football 13 News Post

Sure, NFL teams don’t all look the same. But the variation in NFL offenses isn’t anywhere close to the variation between, say, Georgia Tech’s option attack and Texas Tech’s spread passing approach. There are many paths to success in NCAA Football, and the experience of building a team to fit each of these paths is markedly different. Like it or not, the 32 NFL teams in Madden just aren’t all that different in terms of playbooks and approaches. Across the 124 FBS teams, though, there’s a ton of variety to be found.

What is your offensive and defensive styles in NCAA Football?

A pro style offense and a 4-3 defense.

Pro-Style/West Coast and Multiple D.

I love running a Multi-D because I can recruit all type of defenders and use formation subs to put them in different spots.

I love running the option, but the line interactions and blocking in general make it a huge risk and hard to achieve any stability. The spread guys should be happy, the passing game is nice.

It would help if the CPU option attack in NCAA actually worked.

Offense: Run n Shoot mostly from 5 wide formations
Defense: 3-3-5/3-4 hybrid

Well said, I always try to run a D based on the players I have. That really allows to get the best players on the field. I like to switch up offensive styles as well to be more well rounded and not get bored.

I havent played NCAA in years so can anyone answer if we can make custom playbooks for Off and Def and use them in an offline dynasty? Or does it have to be online? Or does it not matter? Thanks

Usually mutiple or pro style. But this year I might wanna try to run the option. With Michigan maybe?

It's a shame 2 of the 3 reasons listed so far have to do with College Football over the NFL, not NCAA 13 over Madden 13.

I'll go with a multiple approach on offense (mostly under center with some spread formations for situations/different personnel) and a standard 4-3 defense.

Offense: Just about anything. Usually Pro. Might just switch to multiple this year.
Defense: 4-3

I usually go with a multiple offense (mostly spread) with some under center power run formations. I prefer a 3-3-5 on D with constant pressure

Offense: I like the balance that Pro style provides.
Defense: 4-3 most plays you have 4 rushing linemen, with versatile LBs that can blitz or cover TEs and RBs. but I could also run a very effective 3-4 with fast and athletic pass-rushing OLBs and strong run-stopping ILBs

It has always been a spread attack, but this year I want to try flexbone and see what happens. For D I love the 3-3-5 but it has so many allignment issues I usually go 3-4.

I like to use a spread based offense, but I add formations like I-form and Maryland-I to give me some power running. I always use 4-3 defense, never figured out how to effectively use the 3-4 or any other type of defense.

Agreed. The QB reaction is much quicker this year, a HUGE fix!
