NCAA Football 13 News Post

A month ago, I never would have imagined that this would be a selling point for NCAA over Madden. Player editing in Madden’s Franchise Mode has been a given for years. Why would this year be any different? Well, we all know how that turned out. Unless EA plans on dropping a last-minute bomb on the NCAA fanbase, it’s business as usual when it comes to roster editing, and that means that gamers can still take their edited rosters into dynasty mode. This is particularly crucial for the NCAA series, as members of the OS community do terrific work adding player names for every team. Even if NCAA 13 doesn’t blow your mind, at least we’re not losing core features.

Is player customization a major selling point for you?

NCAA always tops madden but I'm wondering if this year it may finally change with the physics addition..

The game retails for $59.99 just like the other EA games. The $45 price is just a promotion from Amazon and companies like it that want to sell the game, just like, you know, any other video game sale.

Not even play customization but just having named rosters is huge. Don't think I'd buy it if there was no name editing.

Editing the names is a pretty big deal... I mean for your favorite team, you'd still know, but to REALLY be immersive, either read Phil Steele, or edit names

For me (and I hope sliders can address this.. yes I'm starting to cave and thinking about getting NCAA... I'm weak) it's all about if the CPU can run the ball (option) effectively.
I think I've seen 30 or so option plays and maybe 4 have netted positive yards.
If that is fixed via sliders then I'll pick the game up more than likely.

I like the ability to edit my ratings on rosters, name rosters, and the ability to play every game on schedule if I wanted, as Madden has no editing and you can only play your team's games each week and year.

I could care less about the ability to customize equipment though, I play this game for the gameplay, recruiting, and to pass time, not to worry about every little detail on a video game, but I get different strokes for different folks so sorry to those who do not have every single equipment piece.

NCAA has blown madden away the past two seasons ('11 and '12). I always loved Ncaa because of the gameplay and the atmosphere, and of course customization.

This year ill buy both. Everyone is jumping to conclusions about madden this year with no editing. I'll wait and see how it goes with the new infinity engine, and yes both games I will buy day 1. Who knows, the gameplay in madden could be the best yet for Ea this gen.

To be honest I love/hate pro football. While I love college football I stopped buying madden games after madden 08. All I do now is buy NCAA games hoping they'll improve.

With the ugly dreads, wacky elbow and knee pads, 300 pound kickers and so on; it would be murder if NCAA ever did away with player editing.

If I could not run a human v. CPU offline dynasty with the correct player names edited in for my team, I would lose interest in this game overnight.

As for equipment and hair and socks, whatever. Nice to have. Race matters, though. No white RG3s, please.

I have geeked out in this area and am using the names of our recruits as they sign so they play in my 3rd year on of a dynasty. That made things more fun and interactive, I found.

This is mostly about sim, but I also find it useful in the real world in terms of knowing the names and positions of lesser-known players and frosh.

Normally I do not agree with these posts, as in here is a top #5 reason for anything concerning NCAA. Maybe I just have a different value set than they gentleman who create these posts, but this time I give this OP +1

Player customization I hate to say it and it sounds stooped but is the reason why I buy NCAA the gameplay is already pretty good and I can live with that what I cant live with is the lack of helmets and facemasks. It's sounds stupid but it is that reason that really makes me a fan of the series and unless there is new equipment I am sad to say I will not buy NCAA I really like the games and have respect for every one who worked very hard on the game but NCAA did not reach my expectations sorry ea maybe next year

Seeing as how classes can't be exported to Madden, roster editing in NCAA isn't even important anymore. If I do pick this up used (not giving EA any money) i'll only edit FSU, FIU and the 3 new 1A school just because I have no idea whose on those three teams.

To me customization in a game can be a major selling point, especially in sports games. Editing, creating, and customization has it's own community within a community.
There are fans who try to things as authentic as possible to raise the gameplay and overall realism.
