NCAA Football 13 News Post

The "athlete" has historically been one of the most misrepresented prospect types in NCAA Football. For NCAA Football 13, EA Tiburon has completely overhauled prospective athletes, making them some of the most valuable recruits in Dynasty Mode.

Athletes will now excel at two or three field positions, giving them more attribute categories to unlock than any other prospect type. Through weekly scouting, you will unlock more of an athlete's ratings, which allow you to determine the on-field positions at which he might excel. That extra time spent recruiting an athlete will be well-rewarded, as their combination of elite skills and versatility gives them the chance to start immediately at multiple positions.

Highly rated athletes will add major flexibility to your recruiting classes in NCAA Football 13. The position may have been largely irrelevant in previous NCAA Football games, but athletes should be top recruiting targets in NCAA Football 13.

I understand that.. What I meant was it didnt matter if he was a 75 or 40 ovr they still played the same because ratings dont matter..

Well speed does & you might need to practice more.. Any team can be beating if your good enough...

Still not pumped about this. Because they don't make the ATH positions logical based on size. A 6'2 220 pound ATH could reasonably be a QB, RB, FB, LB or SS. ATH always play either WR/CB or WR/RB or CB/FS/SS. Where are the TE/LB, RB/SS OL/DL ATH?

Hell even in real life you get guys who were HS QB and wind up playing DB or LB on college. Does EA not read a single recruiting magazine or website?

I'm not sure what game you've been playing. Most ratings matter in NCAA '12.

Did they water down the ATH pool in '12? I know in '11 I had success finding many guys that could fit in as OL/DL, WR/CB, HB/S/QB, FB/TE/LB etc.

I ask this because part of my massive rating edits were giving Pursuit pts to offensive players, and this was a way I used to work around with recruits as my dynasty went on.

It sounds like you're talking about ATHs in past EA games and that you don't understand what they've done with ATHs in '13.

what i would like them to do is make it to where they can fill in or move to other spots in season. lets say you have a outstanding jr. RB that gets hurt afther a few games that will be out a few weeks or for the season but you have a SO. ATH playing LB but dont start he has highest ratengs is at LB but when you recurted him his rb rateings where just a bit lower.since your top RB is out for a few games and the Ath is not a starter i can plug him in at RB till my top RB come back.in the past i seen that once you stck them in a spot there stuck at that spot and if you try to change them to something other they where good at the rateings would be way lower then when you frst had the chance too.

Nah, it's been proven that a lot of ratings don't matter in NCAA, especially when it comes to lineman.

Countless videos have shown 5'7 170 pound left tackles rated in the 40s for everything completely dominating 6'6 270 pound defensive ends with 90 ratings.

I've never seen a FB/LB or TE/LB ATH ever. I've never seen a QB/LB or QB/ DB ATH. people are saying that i'm wrong on this post a link to some gameplay (in NCAA 12 retail or 13 demos/hands on). in real life players often fit roles somewhat based on size. How many times have we heard that 6'1 175 HS option QB i going to be a db in college. It happens all the time. I've even seen bigger HS QBs get moved to TE or LB. Granted that one is not as frequent but it happens enough for the devs to put it in the game.
