NCAA Football 13 News Post

In previous NCAA Football games, each conference's prestige rating was predetermined and would never change, regardless of how teams were performing throughout the course of a dynasty.

In NCAA Football 13, every conference's prestige will now rise or fall depending on how its members perform during the season. Specifically, the prestige rating will be determined by the BCS ranking of the top six schools in each league.

That means smaller groups like the Mountain West or Conference USA can eventually bolster their recruiting power and start earning higher-rated recruits if their teams are consistently finishing in the top 25.

Likewise, just because the SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, or Pac-12 begin the dynasty as the highest rated leagues, that doesn't mean they will stay at the top forever. Another disappointing season from Michigan or Ohio State could drop the Big Ten's prestige down a notch, lowering the entire conference's chances of bringing in top recruits.

Dynamic conference ratings should make NCAA Football 13's Dynasty Mode more interesting and unpredictable, as the balance of power will be constantly changing across the various leagues.

Do you think dynamic conference prestige will add or subtract to the game? Are you worried it might be overdone?

Did you mean to post a pic of the Championship Contender pitch?

Awewsome addition that hopefully means the same handful of teams won't still be dominating by years 7 or 10.

This is actually a small addition that will make a big difference for players that go deep in their dynasty and online dynasties. This should have been the case years ago. I am waiting to see how it all falls into play but if it plays out how it's suppose to it will be a great addition.

This is definitely a big time improvement for Dynasty mode this year.

This is huge for dynasty mode. In one of my dynasties we play with all 12 teams from C-USA and consistently have 4+ teams end the season in the top 25 and this past season (our 5th) had someone finish #2 overall with an undefeated record at the end of the season. What is our Conference Prestige? I believe a D, but maybe a C.

This will have such an important impact on dynasty and the ability to truly build a team/conference up.

This is really exciting, especially for us that move around conferences.

Definitely a reason to be excited about NCAA 13. I'm curious to see if after about 5 years say there's a shift in power from the SEC to the Big East (I know probably won't happen IRL), will a lot of the generated recruits instead of having LSU, Alabama, and Florida as their Top 3 schools have Rutgers, UConn, etc... as some of their top schools because recruits want to play in the best conference in the land?

Not saying that all recruits should suddenly switch their Top 3 based on conference prestige (because there are definitely other factors), but that we should see more recruits wanting to go to schools in the best conference in the nation.

There is almost no way for this to hurt the game.

I wonder if after a while, random teams will start getting top recruits.
In NCAA 12, after 10 or 15 seasons things would get just a tiny bit weird.
2 and 3 star programs of 2025 (Ohio, ECU) started stealing top 10 prospects.

Just a small thing, but I'm curious why that happened.

Well the Top 6 Big East schools would have to be ranked high enough in the BCS to put the conference at the top, so that would probably result in Prestige increases for them that would indirectly cause increased interest in the conference anyway. For those schools who aren't increasing their prestige, they will get the benefit of the increased pitch but probably won't have kids initially busting down the doors of those schools to get in just because they're in a top conference, which is really the way it should be.

Also, nice menu design on that screen shot. Aesthetics matter bro.

Yeah should be pretty cool.
I'm gunna start with Oregon State, but after so many years and I start over with a new small school, that'll come in handy

If AI doesn't display Gameplay wise that there is a difference between 1 through 5 Star Players, then it's just fluff.

If the AI displays a difference, then it's justified because it will actually impact Gameplay and differentiate players and the teams they're on.

We shall see, but history notes that there really isn't any difference between a 1 Star or 5 Star player, as far as the AI play to justify a Gamer spending time in this feature vs just skipping and letting the CPU fill the roster.

ALSO, ATH's being able to play multiple positions is a more than welcome re-addition

This sounds great and all, but I'm super worried that in 5 years the SEC's prestige is gonna be D.

They should have had the average of the Top 6's finish in the BCS standings for the previous 5 years or so. Conference Prestige is dynamic, but it isn't THAT dynamic.

Sounds good. Cant wait to see how it works.

1 reason to be nervous and pessimistic about NCAA 13: It has the same developer as NCAA 08 - NCAA12.

I can't wait to turn the Sun Belt into a powerhouse conference with A+ prestige!
