#2 -- Washington Capitals

Alexander Ovechkin alone makes the Washington Capitals a threat with the man advantage, with his absurd mix of skills and flash. With almost every NHL 12 offensive rating for “Ovie” hovering around 95, he's going to help on the ice. The capitals may have only had a powerplay percentage that was middle of the pack for the 2011-2012 season, but Ovechkin can make things happen in the blink of an eye on the digital ice.

Of course, this is to say nothing of the likes of Alexander Semin and Nicklas Backstrom, who both add something to the mix. Semin features offensive categories all bordering on 90, and he can play off of Ovechkin in almost any fashion. Semin brings a versatile mix that can help create and generate offense, and with a solid centre like Nicklas Backstrom, who features some respectable passing and puck control, Washington has all the tools up front. On defense, Dennis Wideman and Mike Green, even though he's be declining in real life, add some solid back-end support.

Washington's goaltending is decent with Thomas Vokoun, and he'll use his 89 breakaway and 91 five-hole ratings to turn away some potential shorthanded threats.
