If you really think about it, there's probably good reasons why play-by-play wasn't shown.
Hey Chase---nice job 2day!
question....will there be audio options for *on field* or *TV broadcast*?...that's a ton of audio there..concerned that some of the on-field stuff would get *masked* by the commentary.
Hopefully it's not because the in-game play by play commentary still sounds patched together.
Dangggggg.
I'll say this. I'm excited for E3 for a variety of reasons, and I'm excited about the future because after year one and Madden NFL 13 releases, it will be way more fun to talk with you guys about both positives and negatives of '13 -- which in turn will make the game better for '14 and beyond.
Something to think about with QB cadences... I believe the ones that will actually make the game would be quite more simple and generic than the soundbites we got today.
My reasoning: If I'm on offense and my QB is under center to get the snap, I could basically press X at any moment to snap the ball (hut sound) I'm having a tough time thinking how'd they code the soundbites so that all that "blue 80, blue 80, red 58...." works correctly with me snapping the ball at any time. I guess this could work easier with CPU controlled QB's.
In general for me, some very welcome additions to the audio system.
Would have definitely liked to get some more depth on cadences in franchise mode. This is one of my pet peeves with Madden in general, sometimes I believe they put so much time/effort into features (presentation/audio) that apply more to PLAY NOW mode and don't translate so well to deeper game modes...
Yeah it's nice to know they have a soundbite for "Dalton vs. Palmer" but that would be of nearly zero significance to a franchise mode, as this would seldom happen.
I'm not sure how I'm gonna like the new songs over the ea tracks. Listening to that webcast made me wanna get a surround sound. Like I said in a previous posts commentary just gets old to someone that plays madden exclusively, so I'll turn it off after a little while. QB cadence is pretty dang cool. I wish they would have showed Romo's.
They kind of made it sound like the new madden theme is gonna be the theme for the series but then said it's just madden 13 theme, so that kind of confused me. That's how I interrupted it at least, I could be wrong.
I like how the lead guy explained everything nicely and I think he did a good job.

sadly i missed the webcast. does anybody know if there will be a replay of the webcast?
They have the blog up now (I think) and a replay should be coming on later today or tomorrow. I still have the site up and they're talking about something but I'm not really listening.

This year I could only interact so much.
I was half joking Chase, I know it won't sound patchy after each play I just want to hear things during each play like Rodgers drops back to pass, finds Jennings across the middle, Jennings to the 40, to the 30, the 20, Jennings is going all the way, TD Packers,Greg Jennings, he sure caught the defense napping there huh Phil?....
Whereas last year you heard he steps up in the pocket, he's got it, at the 40, looks like he's gonna score....Touchdown.....

We both want the same thing. It's just a matter of getting there.

I know the Raiders and Bengals play each other this year, but hopefully they have something in place where 4 years later, in say Year 5 they face off again(if Palmer isn't retired in the game) they can talk about the first game between those two, and what they did since, playoff appearances, regular season stats, etc.
The Dalton/Palmer thing was more to point out that we do care about various matchups and so forth. It's one thing to do Manning vs. Manning, but the NFL is a league -- it's not just 8 teams.
The cadences combined with the fake-snap seem so authentic -- cool!
But Chase -- although I know gameplay isn't your wheelhouse -- please make sure they program the CPU defense to occasionally jump offsides as a result. Otherwise, there's no significance to the cadence. Please and thank you .

Also, silent counts in loud games for away teams but resulting in more false starts.
