With the help of the CD guys spreading the word and ideas from everyone here at OS, it looks like we have a winner.

Check out the new and improved Madden NFL 13 scoreboard banner.

I think the down and distance needs to be where I and CBS had it. The play clock looks better at the very end in my opinion. That red bit when it is under 10 seconds looks like a warning light and looks best on the end to me.

I like all three color options, so it doesn't bother me. EA can keep thier blue if they want.

If EA wants to keep the EA Sports, then I agree it looks better stacked.

I also prefer this font.

The new dot location is nice as well.

JP can you please send a copy of that black scoreboard banner to the folks at EA via twitter? It looks amazing!!

Would you be willing to make the changes I suggest before you send them the new score bug? To compare?

Here's one with EA Sports spelled out just for reference

I like that better. If EA likes what we have done, I think/hope this will be the final product. Honestly, I don't see them using black. They have a blue theme this year all over the game. They will probably use an even lighter blue.

It has everything we need.

EA Sports logo, down and distance, team logos, possession indicator on the left of the logo, time outs, score, ball position, quarter, time remaining, play clock.

The information doesn't feel clustered to one side like it used to. The EA logo and the play clock book end each other well. It's nice and balanced. The scores and logos are pretty well centered on screen and we don't need the city initials.

The time outs are missing in the second one.

The timeouts look like they're a bit too tight. Honestly, looking at these on my desktop, I think I like the EA teams bar a bit more.

The gradient isn't bad, I just like what they've done a bit more. Possession indicator can go next to the score, I guess.

I'm surprised how many people want everything in the game to completely replicate CBS, ESPN, etc.

I guess I'm the only one who was a fan that they were trying to create their own "brand" of presentation and graphics starting with M12.

Either way though, as long as the presentation continues to improve one way or another, I'm happy.

We're just going off what they gave us and I would hardly say at all that they tried to create their own brand of presentation. The only thing they can truly call their own is the Madden theme. Everything that we've seen graphics wise for M13 has been pretty much attempted duplicates of a CBS broadcast.

Right, I agree M13 looks a lot like CBS presentation. I'm saying I was fan of last year when in interviews they spoke about how they were trying to make their presentation graphics give the feel of a real broadcast while creating their own "EA network" identity with them. I thought it was something they would continue to brand and improve in future years but I guess not.

Like I said though, they're improving either way so whether it's a mimick of CBS and other stations or it's a more unique look, I'm happy with it.

I think it's hard to create a broadcast feel without using elements we're used to seeing on TV.

Definitely. I thought last year's did a pretty good job of feeling original. I was a little disappointed when I saw the first scoreboard that came out but with the recent improvements they made I like it much much more.

Doesn't fit with what? What color would you make it?

I don't mind EA making their own brand, but some things should make logical sense or be esthetically pleasing. EA's original M13 score bug does neither for me, and their proposed new one is better but not by much. I think what we helped put together makes more sense. But I'm obviously biased

Keep in mind that for Madden 12 they worked with CBS for the new camera presentation in that game. I wasn't surprised when they got Sims and Nantz. The camera presentation, how the game follows the QB onto the field, and even the half time cut is how CBS cuts to commercial. Doesn't Gus Johnson work for CBS as well?

EA wants their own brand, but the epic fail that was Madden 09 showed that we didn't want X-Men Danger room presentation. We want what we see on TV. I think EA doesn't want to go ESPN style too much because of comparisons to "that other game." I'm sure CBS is happy that Madden is copying a lot of what they do. Otherwise they wouldn't have let them in to learn from them.
