NCAA Football 13 News Post

EA Sports has released the following dynasty blogs.

NCAA Football 13 Dynasty Presentation

Quote:
In today’s ever-connected sports universe this scenario simply isn’t realistic, and we realized that for NCAA Football 13 we needed to change our weekly simulation logic so that it better reflected what we see in real life. The simulation process now evaluates games being played before and during the realistic time frame of a user’s game, and then begins to expose them in real time during the game. How are they exposed you ask? I’m very proud to announce the implementation of the ESPN Bottom Line ticker into this year’s game.

Utilizing the data that is received from the simulated games, the ticker will be keeping you up to date throughout your own game. That means should you be playing a 3:30 game, you will be receiving final scores from any of the 12:00 contests that are completed. Furthermore, the 3:30 games will be updating in real time as your game progresses, and you will even start seeing some early scores roll in from games that start even later in the day. The ticker will also give you a quick glimpse at upcoming games, complete with team logos and time of kickoff. What makes the ticker even cooler is that it reacts exactly like what you see on ESPN on game day. That means you’ll be seeing Priority Score Alerts--complete with the score changing dynamically on screen--Final Score Alerts, and Upset Alerts.

NCAA Football 13 Operation Dynasty Deep Dive

Quote:
Dynasty mode has received a major upgrade with the addition of recruit scouting. Yes, I did say scouting! Here's how it works: You can scout recruits weekly and during the off-season. During the off-season, you are allowed 20 hours to scout players that you are interested in. Each week during the season, you are allotted 5 hours of scouting time which you can spend on any recruits of your choice. Similar to recruiting in previous years, you can spend as much as 1 hour scouting each recruit or as little as 10 minutes.

NCAA Football 13 Dynasty Improvements

Quote:
After scouting has revealed which players you want to recruit, the next step is to sell them on the ratings of your university using the Phone Call system. However, before I get into the changes made to the phone call, I’d like to discuss just how you can now improve these ratings with the new Dynamic Pitches feature.

Each school has 14 pitches which can be viewed on the My School screen in the Recruiting hub (Pictured above). These grades are utilized during the Phone Call, and in the past were practically static with only a slight chance of changing from year to year. However, they are now dynamic and can be directly influenced through various actions in Dynasty. I’ll be walking you through each of the pitches, detailing out how the pitch can be influenced, how often they will be updated.

Again, sounds awesome. If all the features work and there are no massive bugs...sure I'll buy it. It's my favorite franchise of all time.

That being said...waiting to see on the bugs/glitches.

Very nice additions IMO

Nobody is talking about 1 of the biggest dynasty improvements. Dynamic Conference Prestige? I swear everyone and their dog was talking about and now that its in, I havent heard anyone mention it. Whats up with that?

I think that's one of those things that people are more upset about it not being in the game then they are happy that it is in the game.

IF you're talking about the live ticker and in game studio updates you are wrong. I don't know of any sports game that has done in game updates the way they are doing them in NCAA 13, it's all done in real time with dynamic commentary to go along with it. Meaning one update you will hear how it affects the top 25, one week how it affects the BCS Rankings, one week how you may be playing that team soon or just played them, all kinds of scenarios. It is much more than a live ticker, it's a tremendous improvement in immersion to give you that feeling you get every Saturday. Also Rece Davis does the pregame before each game and gives you the backstory before giving way to Brad and Kirk.

Havo disagree but whatever you like is fine obviously
IMO neither game has been much of anything and it really boiled downed to whether you preferedd NCAA over NFL or vice versa as to which game you prefered.

I expected more visual updates since that's what gets the early birds singing with glee, but with all the hype, what will seperate player quality?

What's the point of Recruiting if there is no difference between San Jose St type players and Alabama type players?

I'm trying to find something that says they did something to differ the types players and actually make Dynasty Mode worth something.

Especially since Coach's had NO on-field impact on the game, making the carousel useless in Dynasty.

What am I missing here?
Seems like mostly Visual injections was backbone of this year's Dynasty, esp if player are still the same (play the same) no matter what school roster they're on.

I am officially stoked!

First off the new presentation elements are going to be great. In-studio breakaways, upset alerts, the in game ticker.....much better dynamic commentary...they listened. I have loved dynasty mode on 11 and 12 and loved NCAA 2006/7 last gen. These presentation enhancements are really good. I already love the dynasty hub and overall feel of the game. This just makes it even better.

The new recruiting elements are also really good. Unlocking ratings? Awesome. Plus your teams performance will effect recruiting which is also another realistic addition.

I can't wait for some more gameplay info.

But overall if your a fan of this series as I am....you can't be anything but excited.

I have to disagree with you Sky. NCAA 11 and 12 are much better games overall than Madden 11 and 12. I liked Madden 12 and thought is was a positive step but NCAA 12 still kicks it's ***.

The immersion factor, the dynasty hub and recruiting.....I feel invested in NCAA. I don't get that same experience in Madden.

I really hope the gameplay tuning for NCAA and Madden kick all kinds of *** and I hope the presentation overhaul Madden is getting can get the immersion on par with what NCAA has brought to the table. I think NCAA 13 will be the best in the series. 11 then 12 were IMO great games. Yes flaws are there on the field..no question but overall the NCAA team has brought it. Madden is almost there.

I really like the improvements to recruiting to, I thought it was cool how they showed the guy from Fresno who left a bigger school maybe USC(can't remember which one) to go to SJSU because it was closer to home and he was homesick.

National tv exposure, proximity to home and a player being homesick are new elements to recruiting this year. I think there were others just can't remember them all.

I dont expect players to frequently transfer due to homesickness.
I think it will be based on if a player had A+ Proximity to Home interest. I dont expect a person with D PTH interest to transfer because of homesickness

If EA doesnt jack up the Draft Class again this year then Im sold. Not super excited about either game but im sure they will be above par as usual. The main problem that EA has had for years is that they dont build on what already has been working. Dynasty should be lightyears ahead of where it is now. Anyone that has been playing this since the Psx/ps2 days can agree with me.

no depth added to coach carousel?
still can't edit all bowl tie-ins?
no online recruit editor?
no teambuilder enhancements (how amazing would this be if i could use this with #3?)?
no spring game?
oh i guess the WAC will still be around
^ This X 1000

Don't get me wrong, judging by this playbook and the previous ones, 13 looks to be a vast improvement over 12, but there's still a lot of work to be done.
I find it hard to believe they didn't touch Custom Conferences what with all the shifting going on over the last year

I rarely log in anymore, and I am surprised I made an exception for this. NCAA '13 is going to be terrible, and that is a pretty bold statement considering the state of '12. I was a pre-order or first-day purchaser for YEARS until 2012, and now I am even MORE embarrassed to have considered myself a fan at all. These changes are a backhand to the face of every loyal customer. Nothing at all has been added that has not been in previous iterations. I am to the point that I am seriously considering NEVER purchasing an NCAA title again. There is just no benefit to it.

And you felt the need to post this useless nonsense why exactly? Either be productive or just stay in your little cubby hole

I'm not saying either were totally "bad" but for me there was an equal amount of dissapointments.
This is just my take but for the most part both games have been less than stellar for so long that most are programmed to accept subpar as better even though its still subpar as a whole, just because past issues are getting fixed.

I'm all for new presentation stuff etc.. but if the core gameplay is still weak, all the presentation stuff in the world won't keep me playing.
What's important now is they seem to be making progress on both fronts which gets me a bit excited.
I am still however in a wait and see mode as at this point I need to see some OS'ers play the games and give some real world impressions. I hope we have 2 great games this year. Here's to the future.

Not nonsense, negative views are just as valid as positive views. Given the history of this series, it could certainly be argued that negative/cynical views are even more appropriate. It's nice to promise wonderful things, but how have past promises translated into reality? How many wonderful new features have simply been old features finally added back to the game? Why should we expect this year to be less full of bugs and AI nightmares than last year?

Personally, I tend to think the Recruiting and Presentation changes are needed and good. But that doesn't mean this magically becomes a great (or even playable) game.

With the reports of "Gems" having increases of up to 20+ OVR in a some cases, that could really add a different spin when it comes to the smaller schools. That should make it to where smaller schools that are only getting 1 or 2 star recruits having better shots at landing program-changing players.

Unless not many of these Gems fall through the scouting cracks of the bigger schools.

It all just really seems lackluster. They certainly added things I like and see as improvements, but are they what I would call leaps and bounds ahead of '12. There's a month or so of time left for announcements, usually all of it is released by E3 right?

You can't ignore Coaching Carousel. It was practically a flop IMO for '12. It needs so much work, I don't think it was hardly what we envisioned what so ever. Coaches have zero impact on players or games. Its really just a presentation thing the way it works so we don't see the same names at the helm.

I have a terrible feeling about these "Mock Draft" things. I'm worried it'll be cluttered with just high OVR and BCS/SEC players or it'll be purely stat based and we'll see Texas Tech QB's as top 10 picks every year. There needs to be some sort of algorythm between the two and maybe physical attributes.

I think I expected so much more, I guess I might every year though
