I know people are gonna ridicule me for this, but I'm kinda disappointed in the jerseys so far. Here are some of the issues I'm having with the jerseys:
  • Obviously, the "Deflex" pads that are in both the Pro-Combat & Elite-51 uni's by Nike.
  • The swoosh on the sleeves seem too small. It may be a small issue, but it's noticable, to me at least.
  • The sleeves. To me, not only do they not seem like they are the correct length, but the strips are off. They are supposed to connect right into the seam of the jersey, and they don't actaully wrap around the sleeve itself.

One thing on the sleeves: In Madden, the options we currently have as far as sleeves are concerned are standard (see: Steelers jersey), and sleeveless. But, the standard sleeve in Madden seems to be longer than a standard sleeve on the real jerseys.

Not only that, but it seems like most of the players modeled in the Nike ads for the jersey seem to be wearing sleeveless unis.

I don't know if Nike even makes jerseys with the same standard sleeve length as Reebok's jerseys; I know they don't make any loose sleeves (which is gonna be interesting for the QB's, P's & k's that wear them). It looks like EA Tiburon is using the Reebok jersey template and just switching a few of the seams around...

EDIT: Actually, I see Big Ben wearing a loose sleeve jersey in the back...
I agree completely. The stripes need to be at a 90 degree angle going into the jersey and getting cutoff. I have NO experience designing video games but mlb the show made dangling sleeves possible (qb sleeves) so I know it's possible. And considering the qb is the center of every play I would think that's important to get him right. The big bulky unrealistic sleeves have bothered me for years. And the pics on the right look like they're straight out of NCAA. The new nfl uniforms have a matte finish but those look shiny. I hope this gets fixed.

Too bad the gameplay will not look as crisp as the photos presented. However the "hype bowl" of potato chips and sauce...temporarily filled my hunger pangs...

Well, it's an early build, but graphically it looks almost exactly the same.
Don't mean to be a *****.

There is also a new look to the pants where a lot of players are going to incorporate what looks like the Pro Combat-style pads to their thighs and knees, and that's very distinct.
A quote from Jean Adams via the ESPN article...

It's a minor detail certainly, but I hope these pads also find their way into M13. That distinct look is what helps separate the Nike uniforms from the previous uniforms IMO.

Carry on...

Pretty much every sports game this Gen has looked "almost excatly " the same graphically.

I remember reading something from a madden developer that tattoos won't make it into this generation of Xbox/ps3...I forgot where I read it though

I can care less about tattoos, to be honest. The NFL doesn't want that in Madden, and that's that.

I just care about them getting the jerseys and apparel correct. In all fairness, these jerseys have only been in the public eye since Monday (even though they said they've been working on this for a while, but that probably isn't true). But, for a game that wants "everything you see on Sunday", then jerseys should be of importance to them...

An important factor I think is the way the game's lighting works. Some of those uniforms, I think, are leaning toward a matte look, which I think is hard to get in Madden. I might be wrong about that though.

I think in general the Madden player models' uniforms will need to look much more snug to be authentic for next year.

The stripes are what I notice as being off, as many people have already said. To me, if you're going to show off these uniforms then they should be 100% accurate. Still, it's only April so maybe they'll get it right by August.

p.s. I'm not liking the collars on the Saints, Bills, etc.. It looks silly IMO.

Well as an equipment junkie I can say that they STILL have the 3 bar RB facemask completely wrong. It actually looks like they somehow made it worse!! The gap should be much smaller. How they continue to mess up one of the most popular masks is beyond me.

I kinda feel like JWILL in that I thought we would see the pro-combat style knee pads as the players wore during the unveiling. I wonder if they got them in? That was the coolest part about the new unis to me...

Wow....I never even notice stuff like this...I'm happy if they get the colors and logos right.

Ummm?

Is it me, or, do these "new" uniforms look EXACTLY like the "old" uniforms???

Other than a Nike check instead of the Reebok logo, I'm not seeing any difference at all...

Typically, I don't either kind sir. I'm FAR from a uni-snob.

You have to put it into context. The unveiling of the Nike uniforms was the "it" story as it relates to the NFL this week (well outside of the Greg Williams audio tapes). I, like others I'm sure, looked at my team's unis to see what, if any, changes were made. That's the only reason I noticed the pants were off.

sigh screenshots just don't excite me anymore...The game looks great and looks have never been an issue really, it's once the game is in motion that everything falls apart..I do dig the nike uni's though, and look forward to them making more jerseys in the future, they've done some fantastic work in the NCAA

Its early but graphically the game looks the same imo. I don't like this showing off the jerseys I'd rather see or read new gameplay improvements. Too me I think Ea is still thinking about the plastic stuff, rather the actual game. I might be wrong but to me they're just showing things that will mean nothing if the game sucks again. They could have done this anytime, I just feel like this is one of their many distractions that are coming.

Looks nice, but I am not wasting my money on a NFL game until they lose their exclusive rights.

When I look at the old uniforms vs the new ones in real life, for most I see subtle overall differences to the shape and feel. The same can't be said for Madden 13 - it looks like they literally took the exact same shapes and redid the textures slightly. For instance to me the collar area doesn't look natural at all - it looks like a crappy texture stretched over the same area as before.

Oh MY GOD! THANKYOU!!!! Somebody besides me finally noticed the most commonly used facemask is screwed up. I don't get how it is on the cover of madden 11 and they don't see the huge difference. Can we create a thread on this one?
