NBA Live 13 News Post

Make sure you tune in at 7:00 PM EST tonight, as Da_Czar discusses the game development process, as well as the NBA Live advisory council and why he didn't put his name in the hat. Submit a few questions here, he might be able to answer them over the airwaves.

Tonight we will talk about the game development process. Through my experience I have had an opportunity to see the trials and tribulations of the life of a sports game developer. Through it all one thing became obvious. The dev's are not as dumb and we are not a smart as we think they/we are.

We will also talk about the NBA Live advisory council and why I did not submit my name. We will also stop by the barbershop and check out the latest happenings with our NBA Chop Shop Series.

You're not on the Live council? Man, that's a bummer. You did some good work with NBA Live 10. Hopefully there are some good guys that are a part of the group.

Looking forward to the show, as always.

Really wish that everything lined up for you and EA to partner on this thing.

If they were able to inject your Flava as an Pre/Post Play analys, it would help set their presentation on another level above current standards, that's Real Czar!!!

With that, with EA having more time to develope, ability to read/hear what the gaming community see's as standards for Sports Games since last release and the dissatisfaction many have with this developer, from games released and/or business practices that are seen as limiting choice/competition, what will the next NBA Live be?

Is it a New Build?
It will set the standard...

Is it a Revamp?
It has some old with some new...

Or

Is it a Follow Up to Live 10?
It's a clone of Live 10 with updated rosters...

My expectations for Live 13 are high, I don't know if that is smart of me or not, but it is what it is. I've always wondered what would come of a major sports title (i.e madden, ncaa football, fifa) if it skipped an installment and came back the next year. My dreams have been surpassed with Live being under development for 2 1/2 yrs.

EA Sports has no room for the hype machine that they are famous for, stating the future of basketball only leads me to anticipate nothing less than a simulation experience. My question for you, Da_Czar, which I'm sure you'll touch on anyway; do you think EA Sports will go the simulation way, or go another direction?

I am hearing the dev team wants to go sim. I expect they will make a fun game with a simish feel to it. Again I am hearing from descent sources they are leaning towards sim direction. Only time will tell.

I may still have an opportunity to have some input even though I am not apart of the council. So we will see how it goes. I am hearing they are listening to the show however. So that can't be all bad. LOL

Well they would be foolish NOT to go the more "sim" route.

Have you heard of them adding legends or classic teams?

That would be awesome.....

But to be honest if they couldn't add teams the next best thing would be to open up the editing options of current players and free-agents

If they did that we could actually make our own classic rosters....just give us throwback uniforms and let us put in the work ourselves on the team.

That advisory team thing really intrigued me but i didn't sign up....really hoping that with a year off EA can bring this game back to respectibility.

They've had enough down time that IMO it shouldn't take forum members to guide them in the right direction. Although, I do understand why they would want feedback and reach out to the community.

But it should be all about their talented people/staff putting in work and understanding the game of basketball to capitalize on that 1 year off to give us a beast of a game for this coming year.

^That would be a great feature if included. It would be a good way of competing with 2K. I know EA owns the right for some classic players (the ones used in NBA JAM), so it would be a nice point to start if they choose to include classic teams.

great show by the way really good work u put in for the listeners.

i wanna touch up on a point u made about company needs to sell games which in return allows for more resources.Yes that is true but at the same time they gotta know who their audience and users of the work they do are geared towards.if ur making a Sim game then Sim players will come trust me if you build it, they will come, sometimes sales manifest its head way too often from publishers and they wanna make a game for everyone for more sales and end up with a game for no one....I.E see ninja gaiden,

Great point. Kolanji and there in lies part of the internal struggle. Marketing vs Development. Then you have producers who may side with marketing because his bonus is dependent on game sales etc etc. So yeah your right that is a slippery slope and you can end up in no mans land.

That's why you make NBA live for the hard core Sim users, and a arcade basketball game later not all in, that's what NBA jams is for EA.
