Good game play video. For some reason the Cubs vs. Cards video is better. The commentary seems way better. This one here seems like The Show 11, but graphically you can see its not. Weird...

Nice to see a bit of CoPa in the early vids this year.

Nice to see theyve also nailed Boesch and his looks this year

Also great to see some of the park improvements thaSLAB worked hard to get in there for us.

thoughts:

+ love what i have seen thus far as far overlays. key is more, more, more.
- commentary. was anything done to it? theres parts where it sounds worse than before. during a team hr leader overlay all 3 announcers sat silent. Campbell should vanish 1st and foremost.
+ the broadcast graphics are a good start, looks like they might have a visually defining look they r going for.
- Gloves and bat sounds are not mixed well. too loud. it takes a good situation where they rerecorded the sounds and turned it into a bad one by having them be so over the top. yes i know theres probably a way to mix it yourself, but thats not our job. it should be set already.
+ home run thoughts: cool to see cutaway to the bench, and new angles. but they should show the guy going into the dugout giving high fives, like u see on tv, and also put a drop down DURING the HR. Crowd was a bit dead on the dinger.

These cutscenes between pitches and foul balls are cute but how long before people are just mashing buttons to get past them?
You complain about authenticity in terms of commentary... (which, from what I've seen they DO mention it) then go on to complain about authenticity in regards to the presentation.

....right.

And if you wanted it removed you could dim to the point that it disappeared.
You know what feature these OS boards have that they haven't gotten rid of even though not many people use it? Multi-Quote! That way I don't need to read three Negative Nancy posts of yours right in a row. Instead, I could just skip one post!

Very awesome when they put that in a few years back.

I did like how A-Rod had his shin guard on protecting the inner leg, just like in real life.

Still doing the boring home run trot instead of the one used on broadcasts. You know the one where cameraman is close to the ground and make the guy coming around to home plate look "heroic" and then following him into the dugout. Does anyone even watch baseball games?

I'm sorry if you all are blown away by recycled material. ("Caveman swinging a club", "amazing" shortstop jump throws, replays of outfielders trying to catch HR's they can't reach, insert Karros dialogue). It looks like we've entered COD, NBA 2K territory. It's as I feared, most of the time was spent on the VITA.
Why are you here? All you do is cry about this game. Go play that "other game" and go away!

And to pick up on this...I know this comment alone won't solve the dilemma once the game ships, but people ARE allowed to have negative comments about the game so long as they do it constructively.

Yankees2009Champs didn't trash any of the developers of the game. He didn't say the game was stupid or dumb or a POC. He pointed out what he didn't like and why he felt it didn't deliver in his eyes.

The same way you guys love how amazing the game is, he doesn't like what's missing.

That being said, it goes both ways. So if he makes a comment about lack of commentary authenticity and then complains about presentation authenticity, he shouldn't expect that a member (or Pared in this case) wouldn't call him out on it.

And this is done. This message brought to you by a moderator. We're always watching. Now enjoy the videos.

If you guys have a problem with the commentary in the show, try listening to the commentary in a Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Personally, i don't mind the commentary, maybe its because I'm new to the series, but it doesn't bother me at all, I'm just glad that everything looks so real in the show, after coming over from playing the 2k series for the past 5 years. The show looks amazing.

But Prince Fielder is in desperate need of a new batting stance.

Wow, Comerica Park looks like it's from an entirely different game. Just a few subtle changes in the wall color, and the "tigers.com tickets" in the bullpen, and it looks awesome. So much better than it used to.

I liked how on Delmon Young's rounding of the bases, it looked so much more realistic than in years past. Even though he hit an opposite field homer. But I guess he did have one agaisnt New York in the postseason so that gets a pass :P

The numbers seemed pretty realistic, I'm not sure about the stances though. Jackson's is alright, but Boesch and Raburn's didn't look very good I think. The ones I used for them last year were much better. They also sped up Max Scherzer's delivery.

But the different variations in the cleats/batting gloves was very cool.

At first when the screen shots came out and the preview vids and what not, I was like this game hasn't changed much and it will be the same game with new animations. But after watching all these vids, all the small things be it; animations, presentation, camrea angles, has turned this into almost a brand new game. March 6th is gonna be the start of a don't bother me or I'll cut your head off day .

lol! That "Hall of Fame" broadcaster out there? I agree. Terrible. I don't understand how anyone thinks he's good, or how he's kept his job for so long. See "Ben Stein does MLB commentary".

# 53 crains13 @ 02/22/12 04:19 PM
I love the addition of the cut scene on Delmon Young's HR, where it showed Leyland. Say it was a walk off home run, is there a cut scene showing the manager excited, or something of that nature? Watching a Reds game, the first thing that's shown on a go-ahead home run or a walk off, is Dusty Baker jumping for joy in the dugout.

you mean the legend Vin Scully?
he was in an old show game or two
05 or something.

My main problem beyond the disconnect between the guys, is the fact that its been the same top two guys for ages. So no matter how good they get it, its still gonna feel old.

Kind of the way i feel about John Sterling.

Where is all this refreshing new commentary they told us about? I haven't heard any as of yet. Oh and I know I'm committing a SIN against nature to give a negative review here. In case you were wondering this year as in every year I pre- ordered this game, that won't be the case next year.

Nope, wasn't wondering.

Ok, first at all I don’t understand how so many people here on this board, that are “The Show” veterans are so excited about many features that has been in the game since 2006 (PS3) or even before on the PS2, SCEA is NOT doing us a favor, they are selling the game for $59.99 and making a lot of money, so, they better try to improve the game, the game has been the same for years, and this year is not different here is why:

Presentation:
- Same old commentary
- Same stadium announcer
- Same camera angles, same on reply also, same comments
- Almost same overlays for years
- Same display on the screen on what to do, we all know, we have been doing the same for years!
- Same cut scenes, they try to copy the other game by showing the pitcher between pitches, didn’t work

Graphics:
In my honest opinion this game looks exactly the same as 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, very few minor changes, does not mean that looks bad, but the same.

Gameplay:
Havent played the game by myself, I can’t have an opinion but, by the videos, I can see more of the same on every department of the ball game, I really don’t see that ball physics that everyone here is so excited about, I’m still watching several line drives, can someone please show me an example of the “all new” ball physics?

I’m so bored of the same stuff on this game, because I have played every version since 2006 (so I consider myself as a LOYAL customer) that honestly I can’t even finish the videos, by 2 minutes already is like watching the same thing all over again and listening to the same thing all over again, sport video games in general are getting stale, is not only “The Show” but this game as well as the other sport games should be sell by $29.99, rosters updates, season updates and minor changes does not justify $59.99 every year, they should at least include a franchise save continue option from last year game, I don’t know why this hasn’t been done since a baseball season is very long, but in computer software’s when you upgrade to newer versions, you can always update the data, why not in a baseball game? Why don’t transfer all your old data from past years version to the newer version?
Overall, pretty disappointed and not buying this year game, not even renting… this is just my opinion, for all the people that are excited with game good for you! But to me, it is unacceptable that this game has been getting away with the same game for years without getting the critics that deserve for doing it. Best thing that can happens for us baseball video gamers is the same that need to happen for football, no more exclusive licenses, “The Show” is the better option and almost the only option that PS3 owners have, and they know it, that’s why the little improvement. I hope that 2K doesn’t renew their license and we can have more option by next year, and more competition.

Well, good for you fiedler.

# 59 econoodle @ 02/22/12 05:23 PM
funny, fiedler brings up a few good points, some wrong, some right [and his opinion thrown in] and instead of a good discourse from knowledgeable MLB & Show fans, he gets a couple of snide comments.
shocking.

my comment is from seeing the vids myself and from what he is seeing, the same voices and the same visual look, whether it be menus or in game lends a WHOLE lot to the game feeling rehashed.
trust me, there would be no comments or boring staleness if 3 new guys were brought it, with new lines, and the menus redone, not reskinned.

Also, M_F_Z, NOBODY outside of CD has played the game, including you, so why can't he comment that he hasn't played 12 yet?

its funny that you couldn't get past the part you quoted because if u did, you'd see this from him:

Maybe in 13. Would be nice.
agreed.
its weird that its not an option [to remove it] because SCEa is pretty good, great actually, at giving the user options to tweak the game to his/her liking.

for the record, i vote for option to remove.
