MLB 2K12 News Post

Gamespot has posted their MLB 2K12 preview.

n addition, as you progress through a game with the same pitcher, the response in terms of how effective he is in both accuracy and speed will be shown to give you a better idea of what to expect. As you move deeper into the game and increase your pitch count, even with a fantastic pitcher, the effectiveness of all your pitches will suffer, and deciding the best course of action will come heavily into play to ensure your team leaves with a win.

Pitching is not the only aspect of the game that 2K Sports is addressing for 2K12. 2K heard the complaints about past games and is looking to adjust everything that fans of the series have noted as being weak. Fielding is being worked on to ensure better throwing by outfield players. Also, player animations, specifically for the catcher, have been heavily worked on to ensure the players move as they would in real life. Lastly, the graphics engine and lighting have been tweaked to give a more realistic viewing experience.

Saw that. Felt it should have a thread of its own. Since you know "2k ain't putting out no info"

As always, both games have their strengths. I love the in-depth sabermetrical focus this game always seems to hit their high notes on, but now it seems extremely reflective with the AI in a dynamic sense, and not just based on statistical probability.

I can't wait to see more of what this game has to offer, specifically with how much better the PS3 version is looking in terms of visuals after seeing what the NBA 2K series was able to achieve this year (and make it almost on par with the 360 version).

Can't wait to see the new pitching mechanics in motion and the new tweaks put in place to the fielding and visuals!

Sounds good. Hopefully baserunning animations have been revamped as well.

Where's the David Price screenshot? I only see Verlander and Bruce.

EDIT:

Found it:

Sounds good, but IMO improving pitching, while always welcome, is low on my list of "needs" for this game, as pitching is already the high point for this series. Improve hitting with that kind of detail and you've got my attention.

Still, good to see some news trickle out and it sounds like they are focusing on core aspects, which is always good news.

Over 80 hours of additional commentary, on top of the hundreds of hours that were already in the game?

... wow.

"With the dynamic pitching, after every throw, markers will show you which pitches are working, will suggest which ones to use, and will highlight the ones to avoid".

I hope we can turn off theses aids after we get a handle on things.

2k is promising a more realistic looking game...uh oh, might be buying two games for PS3.

That's awesome. I love 2K's commentary in both its baseball and basketball games. They are the standard-bearer in that department.

How does one go about reading this on a mobile device?

The link brings me to Gamespots's mobile site, but I can only view the four screenshots. No article.

Could anyone lend me a hand or copy it directly into the thread (if that doesn't brake TOS, by the way)?

that has practically sold me on this being my game of choice this year.
i am a presentation nut.

come for the 2000 hours of commentary, stay for the new pitcher/batter dynamics.

color me pumped.

but please fix the late game AI.

I'm with you here. If they fix franchise, this game will be golden. Their presentation is off the charts and the pitcher/batter duel is solid as it gets. Top it on with new A.I. and better physics and this may be my game of choice this year as well.

By the way, I am a stats junkie and this game does an incredible job with this as well.

I really hope that MLB 2K12 will be good this year because I don't want to buy The Show again.

In the screenshot, he is pitching from the overhead windup.

EDIT: The part that was censored was " . j s " so change the four stars to . j s but without spaces
it was play. j sp?
He doesn't use the overhead windup, but he certainly doesn't pitch from the stretch all the time. He has a very fast windup with very little leg movement but it is definitely a windup.

I love the overcast skies in the Verlander pic. I wonder if we will see weather this year like rain.
