Madden NFL 13 News Post

Hey all,

So I'm looking to find out all that I can about stadium-specific songs for NFL teams in the league. So with that in mind, give me all that you can as it relates to your home squad's stadium-specific tunes!

I'm looking for things that affect kickoffs, 1st downs, red zone, touchdown, play reviews/challenges, general time outs, etc.

I'll take as many responses as you can dish out so name as many scenario-specific moments as you wish as long as they're authentic to that team/stadium.

Thanks everybody.

(PS, don't read into this very deeply, it's more just something I was asked to do out of curiosity.)

I love the idea of asking us but whenever these are in the game you cannot hear them because the volume is so low.

All I have is IN COM PLETE after opposing teams incomplete pass in Denver.

Also watching the Broncos play in Baltimore noticed after every Ravens first down the play a sound like chains clinging together and say first down. Grew to hate that considering they got a lot of first down on the Broncos the last two times.

Touchdowns: "Black Betty" - Ram Jam. Starts immediately from the trademark guitar riff, I believe, then goes into the verse before the extra point. PA announces details of touchdown (yardage gained, player name/number, et cetera) while song plays.

Away Team's Offense Before Third Down: The sound of a boxing bell tolling, but mostly silence on the PA other than "third down, (team name) at the ____ yard line". Mainly done for fan cheers/chants which normally begin to swell immediately after the aforementioned announcement.

Notable "Generic" Stoppage Songs I've Heard: "Slaughtered" - Pantera, "Shipping Off to Boston" - Dropkick Murphys, HEAVY reliance on classic rock including some guitar instrumentals from the likes of Joe Satriani, along with top 40 pop ("Party Rock Anthem" et. al.) Pretty straightforward and unimpressive.

Kickoff Returns: Not sure if they use it anymore, but the public address played the sound of stampeding buffalo (along with a video on the scoreboard) but I'm pretty sure they dropped that this season. If other Bills fans can add some more depth on this topic, I'll be grateful.

PA Announcer Style: Our actual PA announcer may change next year due to his employment at a radio station that isn't carrying the Bills any longer. Regardless, his cadence during pass plays usually consists of something like this: "Fitzpatrick's pass...complete to Johnson...gain of ten...first down Buffalo." From what I remember, the same bell that tolls during the "away team on third down" instance happens again in this situation.

I live just two minutes away from Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park. Frankly, "The Ralph" is a bit generic in terms of game-day atmosphere and there isn't really much in the way of trademark music or public address shoutouts, especially compared to other stadiums. If my memory returns, I'll be glad to add to my post.

Thank you for your consideration!
To add to this. After the game (or maybe just after wins, as the two games I went to this year were both victories), This City by Patrick Stump is played.

So THAT'S what it is. I always think it's "Let's Go D"

Now I know. Thanks

since this is an audio thread, this kinda goes with the idea....

i would like to see some type of decibel meter on the screen at various times like kickoff, big 3rd down stops, turnovers, etc with the crowd noise going crazy...adds to a home field advantage...

(i know this example is basketball related, but the when the 98 bulls played in utah in the finals, they would show the decibel meter on the screen, and it just added to the atmosphere of the game)

I don't understand why you don't go straight to the source? Call the Audio/Video department ( or something there of) at each stadium and ask them. I mean I know a guy that works for the Chiefs in their a/v department. I would think you guys would have access to these people. I'm sure they would give you everything you need to know in a more accurate way. Plus you don't have sift through pages and pages of people's posts.

Ravens:

"Seven Nation Army" - White Stripes - Before every big defensive stand. The crowd shouts "OH" during the entire song. Here is a link:

Chase,

I like that you guys are doing this but it would probably be easier to just let us do it like 2k does with NBA and MLB 2k. Custom music would allow Madden's audio team to focus on things like crowd noise and chants and save EA money because they won't need to license all these songs to be authentic. Please push for this. Thanks.

I agree 100% with this. Just give US the option to put whatever music we want to hear in the game.
I understand wanting to be "authentic"...but unless you're a season ticket holder, the at home fan doesn't even GET to hear a majority of the stadium music....so I would think it would just be easier to let the user customize the game to their own liking.

The 49ers just started a tradition in these playoffs where they play Future's "Tony Montana" prior to, and leading up to every kickoff.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Raymond James Stadium

"Crazy Train" before every kickoff
"A Pirate's Life for Me" once or twice a game coming out of TV timeouts
The NFL on FOX theme going to TV timeouts (or NFL on CBS if it's a CBS game, which is when AFC teams are visiting)
"Tonight's gonna be a good night" (Black Eyed Peas?) when the victory appears salted away in the 4th.

Signed, a one-and-done Bucs season ticket holder.

Most of the Bills stuff is correct. The "boxing bell" sound hasn't been used as much the last few seasons. They still do the charging Buffalo's (also seen charging through snow during the winter months). An instrumental version of "burn it to the ground" by Nickelback is used for player introductions. Also a canon or firework sound after every touchdown, pat, or field goal, and also during the National Anthem. With going to as many games as i have they really need to update their sound system. It's horrible.

This most likely has been said, but the Steelers have these:
Player Intros: Sirius (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCR85u9QngQ)
4th quarter, on defense: Renegade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXhuso4OTG4)

San Diego Chargers
Any Kickoff - Crazy Train by Ozzy
Challenging A Call - "Oh No You Didn't (Mercenaries 2 Anthem)" by Wojahn Brothers
Chargers Touchdown - Austin Powers saying "Yeah Baby" (not really a song I know.)
Chargers First Down -The Charge sound effect. Doo do do do do dooooooo CHARGEEEE
End of Game Chargers Victory - Bro Hymn by Pennywise
The chargers also use "All I do is win" by DJ Khaled after a win

I hate to correct my fellow Madden Planeter but Kev is actually partially wrong about the Bears. BDCB is played after PATs and FGs. The Hives' Return the Favour is what they play after Touchdowns. (Maybe Kev was too busy getting the flags ready to notice ) Also, they only play Crank That for key kick returns. They were playing other things for Devin this past year.

Also, when the Bears start the game by kicking off, they play Burn it to the Ground by Nickleback as Robbie Gould is teeing it up.

On a side note, please get a new version of BDCB if you are going to use it again. It sounds AWFUL (canned) in Madden.

I had season tickets for roughly the first 10 seasons of Ravens, I still noticed these songs being played when I watched the games on TV this year (I no longer live in Baltimore).

I think Weclome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses is the song they play before every opening kickoff.

Like many others, Crazy Train by Ozzy gets played once, always before a kickoff if I recall.

Machine Head by Bush gets played once per game, pretty sure always before a kickoff.

All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix version) gets played once per game, don't think it's for kickoffs though.

That Steppenwolf song always gets played once per game, I forget what it's called though ("Close your eyes girl, look inside girl, let the sound take you away").

They do the "You know you make me wanna shout" song after Ravens extra points, don't know what it's called but famous and used at many sporting events.

Haven't been to a game in a few years but they always did this "Move those chains" chant for Ravens first downs (and there's a section in the lower level of people wearing orange hard hats that are leading it, if they still exist).

They do the "bmm bmm, DEE FENSE!" chant on every third down with the Ravens on D, "bmm bmm" is my impression of the sound the drums make coming from the PA, and then the whole crowd shouts the "DEE FENSE!" part.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, sadly no more home games for Baltimore this season.

I'm not writing this to be disrespectful, so please don't take this that way. This thread is labeled that it is for feedback, and as such I wanted to give feedback about the question you are asking.

When I first saw this thread, I actually thought it was supposed to be placed in the NCAA football forum, and I was/am concerned when I realized it's intended place is where you put it. I know the Madden team had success this year with adding entrances to the game, but outside of a few recognizable chants (J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS), the "pageantry" of the game isn't as important to the NFL like it is to college football.

You don't have to look much further then this thread to see that most people really don't even know what song is played and when in NFL stadiums. If this thread was posted in the NCAA Forum asking for the same information, I can all but guarantee you would have well beyond 7 or so pages of response. Most of which would be very detailed and very accurate.

NFL Football is not College Football. The things that are important to college fans are not as important to NFL fans and vice versa. For example, an NFL fan would care more about sack and TD celebrations specific to each player, while a college fan cares more about what song is played in The Swamp after a sack of the opposing quarterback.

I'm not saying some teams don't have some really great stadium traditions, I'm sure most do. I'm also pretty sure most people have probably only been to a handful of NFL games. The professional broadcasts themselves between the two sports are completely different. You're lucky to catch the JETS chant on TV once or twice a game, but you're guaranteed to hear "Rocky Top" a good 30 plus times when tuning into a Saturday in Knoxville.

If your goal with this fact finding mission is to give us the best Sunday experience, then I would say the best information any of us can give back to you guys is to watch the teams home games on television and try to recreate that experience. Taking us to Reliant Stadium or The Link would be kind of cool, but it's not going to have the same effect on your end user as taking us to The Big House or The Zoo.

I hope I've not wasted too much of your time, and I hope you are able to gather the information you are looking for. I just hope you're looking in the right places for things fans notice about both the NFL and NCAA games.

Cleveland Browns Stadium

Kickoffs - Usually Crazy Train
TV Timeouts - At least once you'll here Hang on Sloopy by the McCoys (O-H-I-O) song. Which is hard for me being a Michigan fan

Also, having worked for ESPN, FOX, CBS and NBC at Hinez Field.

Needing a Defensive stand - Renegade by Styx and I will admit it is quite a site to see from the field.

At Jets Games they play "Lose Yourself" by Eminem, Tripple H's theme song (from WWE), Not Afraid by Eminem all during breaks and Time outs. Advertisements are also shown maybe you cant put the audio from some of those in there. Also every 1st down the announce says: "And that is a Jets..." then the crowd yells "1RST DOWN!" (its louder in more tense parts of the game). The J-E-T-S chant is preformed after every Jets TD or field goal 2 or 3 times right before we kick off, You also make a Fireman Ed figure that you show during cut-scenes after TDs (hes theone that leads the chant). During the 2 min. warning break and in between quarters the Jets flight crew (cheerleaders) does a dance. You could also add the jumbo screen decails to each of the 4 monitors in each corner (Verizon, Bud Light, MetLife, and Pepsi). The player intros also have fire shooting up from big canisters. There also are firewirks sometimes.
