NBA 2K12 News Post

NBA 2K has always thrived on their game modes. Association is considered one of the best franchise modes in sports games and My Player was a very quick success. This year, Association was barely touched, but My Player had a pretty big overhaul. But the problem is, that overhaul might not be enough to keep players interested in playing the mode.

6'2 athletic pg

Got drafted 15th pick by the Suns, Score 26 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assist in the rookie game. Currently in my first season, got trated to the Thunders while they traded Kevin Durant to Miami for Lebron James. Although I am not a fan of Lebron I am having a good time playing along side him in my team

The trade logic needs to be fixed.
The punishment you take for making a mistake still seems to be too severe. I was 3 games into my career going against the Warriors. My player was rated at 64ovr. My team score was sitting at a B- with the green bar about half way to a B. We were up by 14 and I was up against Stephen Curry. They ran a pick play and Curry made a nice move and drove for 2. Should I get penalized? Yes. But to go down to a C+ where the green bar is just about to drop down to a C?? Seems a little much.
I also think your teammate score should start each game at the same level as your season average instead of always starting at C.
Same here, I created an athletic center and midway through the season not one of the original 6ers players is left on the roster. The starting lineup currently is: Arenas, Jamel Crawford, Batum, Josh Smith and me.It is just awful how Arenas is hogging the ball and the complete team is just chucking up bad threes.

Why is it that 2K doesn't have the Dunk contest, 3pt contest, and/or skills challenge as part of All-Star Weekend within the assocation? Now that I think about it, the Slam Dunk & 3pt contest are not part of the Blacktop Mode either.

Someone has posted at NLSC the tables to use in Cheat Engine to remove CPU trades in My Player mode. I have not tried it, but if you're playing the mode, you might want to go have a look.

My player mode 2k12. 8 Min quarters, All-Star difficulty (You just have to get used to it but it is a bit harder than pro but much funner and realistic) Drafted by the Jazz. Played first few games not much playing time, but it was awesome because the AI was actually not mentally retarted like they were in 2k11. Al Jefferson would rape in the post. After a couple more games, about 7 games in now, playing time increasing, the trades begin to happen. Al Jefferson traded away from Darren Collison, are you joking me? I'm a point guard and we have devin harris yet we need to get rid of our size and big man star down low? Then Paul Milsap gets traded away from OJ mayo, which i actually like this cause I'm making OJ one of the leading scorers in the NBA. More trades and the Jazz starting line up becomes this, Oh and I'm starting now after 9 games, don't know how the forum creator played 3 seasons and not starting, must be playing only key games or something. Anyway starting lineup: Me (PG), OJ Mayo (SG), Paul George (SF), Andrea Kirelnko (PF), Derrick Favors (C). Anyone see a problem with this lineup?? Anyone? Yeah no size at all, we get out rebounded like crazy, especially we give up alot of offensive rebounds. What I've learned about the AI in 2k12 if this. They are smart and good on these conditions. YOU HAVE to play realistically. Change things up. I think its easiest if your the point guard running the show. Use the new quick controls that tells your players to cut to basket or get open or post up. Share the ball. Don't be greedy. And do not think you can just dribble right in chris pauls face with the ball up against him and he's not gonna steal it. Get ball movement going, use the sweet new hot step layup improvements but kick it out for the wide open 3 if you get doubled. Most important of all don't give up on your players if they screw up one time, keep feeding them the ball. I'm now in my 17th game with 38 mins a game and i have to say 2k12 is the shiz...other than the ******* trades they really need to patch it so your team doesn't trade away your whole team, I purposely picked the Jazz because of Al Jefferson so i could get bunch of assists by driving then tossing it off to him for the easy dunk.
Despite the crazy wall of text, this guy is 100% right. Playing real basketball is a must. Yes, you are probably a lottery pick or close to it, but to maintain balance in the game without making it too easy, 2k still needed to make you suck(but not as much as previous 2k's) at first or else there would be nothing to look forward to. Besides, very few rookies actually dominate in the NBA right away.

And 15 min a game in your third year? 10 games in and I am at 28 minutes per game. Playing at 12 min quarters while your minutes per game are low REALLY helps a lot. I highly recommend doing this. Once your minutes increase to about 30 minutes per game, then you can reduce the quarters to about 8 minutes and still have a fun time while getting a good teammate grade.

Woooowww!!! This update made the game awesome. After bashing 2k for the horrible My Player mode I will now bow down to them. This update feels great. Thanks

I agree with the trade logic that they make the most BS trades ever, such as trading away Luis Scola and Jordan Hill for Marcus Camby and Elliott Williams. It also made the Heat unstoppable, with Chalmers, D-Wade, Lebron, and Duncan. If you can't beat it, join it . I requested a trade to the Lakers and I got there, and now I'm starting along with Kobe, Stephen Jackson, Taj Gibson, and Pau, and were first in the conference riding a 10 game winning streak.

I was a slashing small forward. I went 15th to Indiana and backed up Danny granger. We didn't make the playoffs and I thought the trade for javele McGee helped. Next season, ALL NEW ROSTER. I was starting because they gave up granger. By my third season the only original pacer left was the non factor tj ford. Free agency I went to golden state and we were GOOD. I had become a 83 overall and the trio of me curry and Ellis was unstoppable. Of course the trades were crazy so after Kenton won his 2 rings with the heat, him and Josh smith went to Cleveland. Then all of a sudden, monta Ellis gets traded to who else but the cavs
