beautiful graphics and the physics are spot-on. the 3 demo cars handle very differently. the cougar needs throttle-steering around the corners to really bring it to life and you really feel like you're right on the edge of control, the wrx is stable in the straights, but needs a little more love in the corners due to the understeer, and the ferrari has very predictable handling, but is a beast to tame. simulation steering is absolutely the way to go if you're good on the sticks or have a wheel. i can't say enough about how happy i am that there is an option this year for NO assisted steering. if i jerk the car into a wall this year, it's my own fault.

my only concern at this point is the difficulty. with ALL of the assists off, including abs, everything set to simulation (steering included), and the ai on medium, i routinely spanked the second place driver by no fewer than 10 seconds each race. haven't tried expert yet, but i'm afraid it's going to be similar to last year where medium is too easy and expert is too difficult.

Pros-
-Graphics look a little better.
-The sense of fast speed is finally in the game. No more going 120mph and it feeling slow.
-no more excessive oversteering.
-The engines sound way better.
-The interiors of the cars look better then forza3.
Cons-
-I notice framerate problems on the mirrors. It's not a big deal, but it does bother a bit.

I agree totally on the difficulty.

Anyways, my quick impressions:
+Great clean menus as always
+Always loved the handling in Forza games. They just nail handling. It feels real but is still fun. Love that.
+Like the choices in cars. Ferrari 458 is a dream to drive. Pagoni Zonda C (in Rivals mode) is a beast too.
+Like that we can tinker with all the assists in the demo.
+Graphics looks great. I don't think they're a ton better than Forza 3, but they were great in 3 so no real complaints there.
-They still have the cars revving up for no reason at the start.. I hate that. Let ME controls the dang revs.
-Can't turn the background music off in the demo.. sooo annoying. Obviously, this won't be an issue in the real game, but I hate playing with background music on a racing game.

Overall, nice demo. I'm not sure if I'll purchase just b/c I wore out Forza 3 and am kinda burnt out.. plus there are just too many great games coming out in the next month. I'm not sure if there will be a whole lot of new stuff that would keep my attention. I'll probably pick it up much later when the price drops.. It looks to be a great game though for the racing fans out there.

You can control the revs at the beginning of the race, if it's the same as Forza 3 you have to use manual clutch.

Also note on the difficulty, Forza 3's difficulty system was a bit skewed in my mind. Medium was way to easy, and hard was way too hard. They've bridged that gap more this year, I'm sure with it on Hard it will give you a good race. On medium, everyone can spank the CPU.

You can also turn off the menu music as well in the demo.

Just pick a song off your hard drive, then pause it. That will disable music in the demo and you can hear the engine sounds.

The eurogamer details mention the Cee'd, I didn't see the Kia in the car selection screen... Am I missing something?

I like the demo, The graphics seem the same as Forza 3,dont see much or any improvement. The cockpit View has been improved over Forza 3..I hope they have a custom setting for this in the retail version.. The cars handle better also..

Does the demo have wheel support?

great game, definite buy

I'm by no means a huge racing fan, but I definitely have enjoyed this demo, especially the Rivals feature. It's made the game go from something I was merely keeping an eye on to something that I'll likely pick up by Christmas at the latest.

Just did a few laps in all the cars...

It was a pleasure to drive all three cars in quick race, Cougar, Subaru, and the 599.

This is probably already known, but a workaround to turn off the background music is to play music from your library and pause it. It effectively kills the in-game music so you can enjoy the engine sounds.

Only minus I have with the demo is no replay mode and no listing of each lap time.

# 16 TracerBullet @ 10/04/11 03:18 AM
This game is so smooth.

# 17 Dazraz @ 10/04/11 04:54 AM
Very sleak, right from the opening menus through to the game itself. Shame there are no replays in the demo though. Certain first day buy.

I am not a driving game gamer. Meaning I do not own a race wheel and i do not have a favorite racer of all time(minus f zero gx)

I've played EVERY racing game there has been this gen including Forza 3 etc.

I downloaded this demo NOT expecting much BUT based off of trailers and early developer videos it looked extremely promising.

I went through all of this years racers like water tyring to fnd the right one and having a ps3 and 360 i was able to check out all of this years offering.

My decision to say that GT5 was the best out of all the choices this year i felt was accurate.

Then I play this...

Are you kidding me? how this game doesn't go down as the most realistic and accurate racer ever developed then i do not know what to say?

The demo is ONE course. but you don't PLAY the course like in so many OTHER games... YOU PLAY THE CAR

Something i have never felt a racing game to have given me.

This is a STUNNING game....Now let me get that wheel cuz the cockpit view is PERFECT!!!!!!

+rivals seems like a cool addition
+can now free look in garage and WOW the cars looks photo realistic
+in car view is so so much better
+handling feels a touch better
+lighting is much improved (much more realistic look vs the old which tended to give the cars a somewhat cell shaded)
+engines sound great
+can feel the tires better

-wtf is up with auto rev'ing still
-in game music (I get they want to appeal to arcade racers but how about a toggle)
-crashes/damage appears mostly unchanged although maybe more damage is implied it is hard to make it catastrophic and it always looks like a paint scratch.
- is that really the game menu (4 panels?)
-pit stops unchanged; no crew, engine repaired in 2 second but still red body damage remains.

Like Forza 2 and 3, Forza 4 looks to be a great game with some solid tweaks but far from an evolution of the series. By my count we are only up to Forza2.5

Pretty good demo -- I'll probably be picking it up. And while Forza 4's graphics are very good, they still have a "fakeness" about them that keeps it from being photo-realistic. If you look at the screenshots that were released, they look much more photo-realistic than what it looks like in-gam. The same was true of Forza 3, and I believe it was said that the screenshots weren't just screen dumps of in-game play, but were post-rendered somehow.

Just in terms of graphics, GT5 is definitely better and much more photo-realistic. Gameplay on the other hand...that's a different story.
