Destructoid has posted their NBA 2K12 hands-on preview. It looks like you can use any player in the NBA and use him in the Create a Legend mode.

Having the option to jump to the next key game really opens the door for My Player to be NBA 2K12's mode of choice. It takes all the great action of the regular game and boils it down into a condensed 10-to-15 game personal experience. And if creating a rookie from scratch isn't for you, there's always the Create A Legend mode that does practically the same thing with any player in the game.
"It's extraordinary just how much time and effort in one year has clearly been put into NBA 2K12. I was told over 100 possible questions, consuming 30-35 hours of recorded audio, could have been asked depending on my position and interested team during the interviews."
Wow. That's a ton of audio. 2K is putting a ton of time into My Player.
"It doesn't stop with the facial features, either. Being "The Great," I sported the one new accessory to this year's game, the headband. If you saw it on a player last year, then you can assume it is in NBA 2K12. The game even goes as far as setting where logos can be placed on certain accessories."
I know some of those accessory junkies out there are going to like this, maybe it will be possible to fix current NBA player attire....just maybe

There you go seems you don't have to play all 82 games for those who was wondering.
Very nice preview, 2K12 is a must buy Oct 4 hurrup!
I wish I was at my comp so I could bust out my evil happy smile Osmosis Jones pic. Playing with any player in the league? Oh yeah. Do want! Do want lots!

Over 100 possible questions? That's pretty deep, considering that you'll probably only get asked 4 or 5 questions each interview. Technically, you could get interviewed 20 to 25 times without seeing any question twice.
