Thanks for the videos.

Can't wait to get my hands on NHL12!

After 1 period it's really nice to see the CPU dumping the puck and using the glass/boards in their own end. I wasn't really seeing a ton of this in the demo.

Thanks, Chase and good choice of camera for CPU/CPU play. The rebounds seem more natural compared to the demo and die more off the pads. Would love to see the AI play the puck to space more instead of always looking for a direct pass. The Boyle hit looked great, the hitter falling adds so much to the collision.

The collisions where both guys fall are my favorite. I'm trying to compile a bunch of them in a short video. My favorite that I have recorded so far is where Subban levels Jordan Staal.

Question from a Ranger fan:

Do Cally, Dubi, Staal and Girardi still have those crappy generic faces?

Thanks for posting these ChaseB.

A couple of observations;

- Nice to see that the star players are noticeable. You can tell when Gabs and Richards are out there. Same with Streit and Okposo.
- In the 2nd video at the 1:07 mark I didn't like seeing Marc Staal making an 80mph perfect tape-to-tape, blind backhand pass across the ice. With his back to his teammate.
In fact, the passing was a bit too clean for my liking. Perhaps sliders help that.
- I don't give this game enough props for it's sound. From the puck, to skates, to crossbars, this game sounds like a real NHL game.
- I'll have to edit McCabe's stats. He's not that great of a puck-carrying dman. Great shot, sure. But not the best skating with it.
- I'm disturbed that ChaseB has an XBL friend named ChubbyBanana.

The only thing missing from those videos showing CPU vs. CPU is... wait for it... an "Authentic" Broadcast camera angle

Yeah, if I'm being negative I can say a couple things here:

-The blind amazing passes bug me, too. That, along with self-suctioning by CPU guys still being there, and the way CPU players just stare at the side boards and protect the puck that way while trying to avoid your pressure -- just looks bad visually more than anything.
-The sound is really good, except for commentary, and just the way some of the checks sounds this year -- it doesn't quite sync up or sound like you'd think when someone goes sliding into the boards or whatever. This probably just ties into the dynamics of the amount of checks versus the way the sound handles it.

On the positive side of things, I'll show you some "dirty" passing in a user vs. CPU video I'll probably post tomorrow (most likely the MTL vs. Pitt game I recorded). It feels like passing is a bit more inaccurate on the user end of things. The traits/players really do stick out in the CPU vs. CPU games. I actually recorded that Islanders/Rangers game a couple times, and Okposo you could tell was more physical than a normal player, while Gaborik really does try to shoot and Richards really looks for the pretty pass.

Pretty interesting, looks good. Sorry if it has already been mentioned, but on which difficulty and game style was it?

Not completely realistic. Last season, Ranger fans didn't really notice when Gabs was out there

All-Star, hardcore settings.

RIM-SHOT!

But seriously, I also noticed how Gabs would come back to back-check at times.
While he hasn't done it as much in a Rangers uniform, he was a good defensive player in Minny and will still attempt it while in NY.

That's one area the EA team finally needs to address. The user has always been handcuffed to a degree when it comes to playmaking. The CPU, on the otherhand, always seems to make the perfect pass.
However, in another video posted some time ago, I saw some 3rd liners make errant passes, and miss them too. So perhaps there's hope when it comes to at least the lesser players not channeling the ghost of Wayne Gretzky circa 1984.

Thanks for posting these vids.
I look forward to the MTL-PIT game you recorded.

The Garden looks better this year. And the Rangers goal horn is pretty accurate too.
Too bad Dubinsky doesn't have his playoff sharpie marker mustache in the game.

That video looked really good. I'm actually pleasantly surprised it looked as good as it did. Couple of things though. I still saw a couple times where the back checker would skate right next to the player with the puck and not try to poke check or do anything to try to take or knock the puck away. That actually annoys me quite a bit. The only other thing I've noticed so far is that after goals the cut scenes are really bad. It doesn't even show any celebration from the player. It just goes to a cut scene of the goalie skating or fans jumping around. That's nothing to do with gameplay, just a bit annoying. The passing can easily be tuned with sliders so I'm not worried with that at all. Other than those two things right now, the game looks pretty good.

I hear you. I was hoping that the demo wasn't accurate to what the final build would be in that regard.
It cuts too quickly to the crowd and opposing goalie.
Let me see the guys celebrate a little bit longer.

Ya I mean it's fine if they show the goalie skating (they did it last year at the tail end of the goal before the faceoff) and the crowd cheering, but do it after the teammates celebrate and go down the bench line. It's just a tad bit irritating. I guess custom celebrations aren't as big of a deal anymore to them after they added that feature last year. It looks like they almost took it out of the game.

4-0 Rangers?
Wow, this game is horrible. No chance I'm buying it now.

(Can't wait to get it on Thursday! )

looks sweet

I noticed one thing right off the bat, in the 2nd video. The Rangers Heritage jerseys are actually a little bit better this year. However, the blue needs to be WAY darker.
