As in, must each user generally be on the same number of games played? So is it possible to piss people off by not being able to get around to playing and thus holding up progress?

I've never been a big online person, and I'm not sure online association is very appealing to me. It's pretty cool it seems so appealing to others though. I just wanted to see if I could clear up some of my own misconceptions about the process.
I know of one league that requires 20 games a week, which is way too many so I decided to not join that one. Other owners are more understanding and just ask for a couple games to be played each week cuz they know people have lives. And since some are busier than others, they don't expect everyone to have played the exact same amount of games. If you aren't active enough in their opinion, you may be booted from their league though.

What most league creators do is create a website and a chatroom on that website (completely anonymous as you could just use your PSN as your nametag).

These 2 are Huge for me. Finally Contracts. Donating to NBA Cares is a good out-of-game feature.

Holy cow. 20 games per week sounds nuts. Glad that's not the standard.

Thanks again for the information.

What do you expect the sport of basketball doesn't change from one year to the next.

I'm just the smallest bit surprised that a "Wilt 100" achievement didn't make the cut. It's probably for the best because chasing goals like that really messes with my VIP records. All of the sudden all my highs are held by the same person because I force-fed him to get an achievement. I think that happened with Kobe Bryant a few years ago. He had a big points achievement once and for the rest of the year he held my VIP records for points, points in a quarter, points in a half, etc.

This is something I do with friends as well, they havent specifically said anything about it yet but to know they are working on the online franchise portion of the game, it would almost need to be an essential thing to implement in a multi year franchise. We will see though but it's looking promising.

Would have been 2K10, that was the year they had a bunch of player specific achievements. Honestly I miss those and think it's kind of strange they got rid of them. It was a bunch of stuff like (rough guesses) get a 25 and 8 with Yao, 30 and 10 with Dwight, 48 with Durant, 50 with Melo, 83 with Kobe etc. etc. 20 and 12 with CP3. It's a good way to extend the value of the game besides online/multiplayer and Association/Jordan/Greatest mode.

yeah but I'd know bazillions of other trophies/achievements they could make, they don't have to do the same thing over and over again.

I would have implemented a special Detroit Pistons "Use 50 different starting lineup combinations during the regular season while maintaining a team chemistry rating below 23%" achievement.

I hope Online Associations means what I think it does. Also, 2K please allow the historic teams to be played online/leagues.

# 51 tjm384 @ 08/27/11 01:41 PM
Whoever is running the online association can set it to flex schedule so you can play games against the people that are online at that time.

I agree. But allow the league creator to say whether people can use just historic, just current, or a combination. I dont want to have an association with only current teams and then have someone come in and use the 96 Bulls.

If I were to guess Online is usually last to be announced in sports games and MP might be the week after this week, based on last years schedule.
I remember the MP Insight the first week of school last year.

Definitely excited to be reading this.. I was on the fence about this game.
I hope that if u end up with someone that is not active, the cpu will take over and you can play the computer instead of simming the game..

If you got a successful league, there may end up being a waiting list. So you can end up replacing the inactive guy.

Having the cpu replace them is a welcomed idea as well. I hope 2k makes it reach its full potential.

personally i hate an achievement that u have to get by getting ALL OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS mien that is so lame....

and secondly i think that they should remove online achievements from games...i hate it knowing somebody payed the same amount of cash on a video game, love trying to get all the achievements for a game n cant just because they dont have an internet connection or they dont want to play online so they only would max out at 800 points.(i swear call of duty gets it when they have no online achievements..so ppl go online with no obligations to try matches to get stuff other than fun, competition,or bragging rights of skills)

Win the championship in an Online Association. seriously? i guess am once again not getting 1000 for an nba 2k game

# 59 LionsFanNJ @ 08/27/11 02:48 PM
Hmm. i may actually play online now with Online Associations.

# 60 RedSceptile @ 08/27/11 02:55 PM
Something that I've been thinking about for MyPlayer mode, the achievement is to purchase skill points, so maybe your NBA contract and Sponsorships etc all play a role in skill points in that maybe money is used to buy them? Wishful thinking maybe but I'd like that as a cool addition.
