Kotaku has posted some interesting stats on EA Sports' Season Ticket, in regards to Madden NFL 12.
Quote:
The first day of EA Sports' "Season Ticket" premium subscription, offering a three-day (or more) full preview of Madden NFL 12, does not reflect wide acceptance among the hardcore community it was meant to appeal to.
As of 11 p.m. EDT, Madden NFL 12 showed 3,559 users connected to the game through Xbox Live. On PlayStation 3, 1,115 were said to be connected to the EA servers through the game.
Most game developers, from my research as I aspire to be a game dev, have a salary. They don't get paid hourly. So EA probably used their current staff on this, thus not costing them much, if any money.
Yup i am the one on the high horse. I hope someone gives you a hug soon.
Is this what OS calls a response to an argument? You've yet to counter the point I'm making and continue to just come after me, the person, for whatever reason.
Are you done trolling me? Why are you even responding if you aren't going to talk about this?
Dude, no offense but you are a dick and have the lowest self esteem here. Speak for yourself. People like you are pieces of ****. The funny thing is it's true.

If someone on salary spends part of that salaried time on a project, then part of their salary is part of the project cost! I mean, ...the heck?

Have you actually read any of your responses to me?

I wrote them, so clearly I did. You continue to avoid my initial point (to someone else I might add) that EA didn't make a straight 162K profit and there's costs involved.
I continue to support that argument and you continue to insult me without any attempt at disputing my arguments. That's pretty much all that's happening. I've asked you multiple times to leave me alone if you aren't going to carry on the thread topic discussion, but you seem to ignore that.
I suppose with 63K posts, OS supports your behaviour.

Where did I say EA made a profit? I merely intimated they didn't spend much on marketing.

Except salary doesn't work that way. It would be impossible for me to tell you how much of my salary was devoted to a particular project in any given cycle, because I'm working on several things every day. That's kind of the point of salary--that you're there for whatever comes up, so your cost to the company is static instead of variable.

No, that would be when I said I was speaking to someone else who made that claim, before you interjected into the conversation thinking it was all about you and what you thought.
Excuse me while I get off my high horse.

LOL. I suppose Time Management solutions don't exist in the real world. Nobody in the entire IT world has ever filled out a timesheet before.

I really have a hard time understanding what you're saying, so let me make this simple:
Game Devs get a set salary. Let's say they get $50k a year. It doesn't what they do, they get paid that much money. There could be a major break, or they could be working their asses off. Doesn't matter, they get $50k. So, even if they work on the EA Season Pass they get paid their salary. Where are you getting this idea that part of the salary is put against the EA Pass? That makes little sense.
Anyway, that's what I've gotten with my highschool careers class research lol.
