LaPhonso Ellis Added to NBA 2K12 'Greatest' Mode

All right so it might not be Charles Barkley, Iverson or Reggie Miller, but it's still yet another player being added to the NBA 2K12 NBA's Greatest mode.

Ronnie 2K, one of the marketing maestros over at 2K Sports, told everybody via Twitter that LaPhonso Ellis is now going to be a part of the '93-'94 Nuggets squad that infamously took out the Seattle SuperSonics in the one versus eight matchup in the first round of the NBA playoffs back in 1994. (Who doesn't remember Dikembe sprawled out on the court at the end of that series?)

It's rather unique to see players still being added to a game at this stage, but it might just be the nature of the beast when it comes to negotiating with individual athletes.

If you can add whole teams and rosters through 2k share I don't know why they couldn't make whole teams available through DLC. Hopefully this can happen.

Nice on a random side note, LaPhonso Ellis's son came into the movie store I used to work at one night, and I told him I used to use his father on NBA Live 95 lol

I love 2k sports games and have been a consumer since 2k1. I think that if 2k would implant the faces of celebrities from the celebrity mode onto a few of the crowd's faces in the front row for such games in MSG and staples center, I think that this simple upgrade would once again just add fuel to this game that's been on fire.

I'm just saying, imagine Kobe saving a loose ball right before he jumps over Snoop Dog, Kanye West, or Drake in the front row. Nothing more realistic than that. When 2k rolls this out they will truly be on 1.

Just on the roster. He's nowhere near a legend.

11.9 ppg 6.5 reb career averages, those definitely look like all-time-greatest stats, lol. He did have good a 96-97 season though with 21.9 ppg and 7.0 reb.

I'm actually really glad LaPhonso was added to the squad. He was a relatively big missing piece and a noticeable omission. In terms of his career, I have two of his highlights permanently burned into my brain. One is the block posted on page one, the other is his dunk at the 1:15 mark of the clip below. As a youngster, I always remembered him twirling around the rim two or three times. Instead he kind of almost makes a full turn. Still love it.

How was it "an announcement"? One of the developers tweeted it, they didn't hold a press conference.

He's a significant addition to that team and a fun video game player. You could give this guy Amar'e's (boy that looks ridiculous) dunk package and it would be appropriate.
