FIFA Soccer 12 News Post

Folks will be able to download the FIFA 12 demo on September 13. This year, the announcement that goes along with the demo is the fact that Ultimate Team is being included on the disc from day one.

This comes as no surprise, but there is an incentive for returning Ultimate Team players. Those who played the mode previously will get bonuses much like last year, but they will also have the chance to start building their team up on the web on September 20, a week before FIFA 12 actually releases in the US.

Looking forward to trying this, for me FIFA 11 was a lot of fun to play online (against the right opponents) but I just didn't enjoy it offline. Really hoping they produce a game that will allow me to enjoy more than just a few games of career mode.

Almost a month.

I wish FIFA would release early September.

Totally agree. I wish they would release the game early. It kills me every year waiting for this game.

I can honestly say that I haven't been this excited about a demo in a while. Can wait to try the new engine for myself after all I've read about it.

It is kind of ridiculous that they don't release the game either before or just after the European leagues start. I mean, all 4 big US sports release their games before their seasons start, so why not FIFA? It's no fun watching a new campaign for a month and a half without a new game to play.

I believe FIFA is better off being released after the seasons start. They cover hundreds of teams. There are rosters to update after the transfer window ends, and team kits have to be updated, too. I end up playing FIFA daily all fall and winter, so I don't care about the demo.

While FIFA has huge sales numbers worldwide, EA's priority lies with getting all the major North American games lined up and shipped out. The North American retailers depend upon that product to make their sales numbers. Would it make more sense to ship NCAA in September? Would it make more sense to ship NHL around Halloween? Maybe. But EA has a steady strategy that is geared towards meeting retailers' needs. Madden's ship date was pushed back a couple of weeks this year, but it is still before the opener of the NFL season.
