NBA 2K12 News Post

Gamespot has posted their NBA 2K12 hands-on preview.

Quote:
On the court, player animations and movements have seen a great improvement over last year. One issue many people felt--including me--was that players often didn't move as they should, especially in regard to the fact that many shot animations didn't properly represent the player who was taking the shot. Now, a player's shot animations feel and look as they should, and players adjust accordingly, depending on the situation.

Another thing that 2K is addressing is the ball. This year, the ball reacts more realistically. If you try to do too much with it, chances are you'll lose it much more easily. In an interesting situation, when a Mavs player tried to grab an offensive rebound because his handling was not that strong, the ball hit his hand and went loose. This then allowed a Heat defender to grab it and begin a counterattack. Ball handling will be much more important, and those who think they can dribble around players and not get punished will be in for quite a reality check.

I knew going into this year all it would be is refining upon an excellent game. And really, that is all I really need from this year's game. Don't need major or gimmicky features to be added it, just improve and polish on my favorite sports game of all-time.

Yes, it is always good to have more info, even if it's just a little. Thanks for the link Steve!

^^LOL

Anyways, this sounds great. I didn't think they could improve any more on last year's game, but if this is true...wow.

Now, with all we heard today, I'm really hyped for this game. It's up there with Mass Effect 3 as my most anticipated game coming out between now and next year.

I hope this just doesn't happen automatically.
U make it sound like every scrub will lose the rebound every time...

Don't try to dissect every sentence 2K says cause in that case you'll read something negative into everything.

Never read too much into a gamespot preview, how they can call this "hands on" is beyond me. It sounds like he watched 30 seconds of gameplay.

Keep in mind Gamespot doesn't necessarily have guys who are NBA fans reviewing their games, you can tell by much of the terminology that's used when describing situations. I mean..."begin a counterattack"? Did he just parry his roundhouse?

I believe it was a Gamespot reviewer who was upset with 2K10 or 11 because his players wouldn't "dunk everything like NBA players do". LOL

From Gamespots 2k11 Review "Even though Michael Jordan is no better than a benchwarmer in NBA 2K11".

Riiiiiight.

did they really say that?

Hopefully making the hands important for rebounding means that players now box out and its not all about vert. Hopefully its now about positioning so guys like Randolph and Love who get two inches off the floor can be rebounding machines
