I love the NHL series but I hope that they upgrade the visuals at some point. Still using the visuals from NHL 08....Outside of that the game is awesome...

Can't wait until this weekend when the Lightning can't match other teams offers for Stamkos and he goes elsewhere. EA are going to have to try and get an action shot of him in a jersey he's yet to play in in an actual game.

The look of those new jerseys is actually based on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

But makes it easier to edit the jersey should he leave tampa.
Ok, hockey buffs around the league. Listen up: Stamkos isn't leaving the Lightning. There are a multitude of reasons, and I'll buzz through some of them:
He's been a huge part of the marketing campaign since he was drafted... He's not a me-first egomaniac like you see in other sports (namely, NBA)... The Lightning are on the rise, as evidenced by this year's playoff run. Why would he leave a talented and (mostly) young team?... He's gonna get paid. He might have to take a million or two less per year to make a cap-friendly deal, but he's still getting paid... He's never had anything bad to say about the Bolts or management or ownership, and the steadying hand of Steve Yzerman certainly helps... He's got Martin St. Louis feeding him one-timers all day.
So while it's nice to dream about Stammer on other teams, it's just not gonna happen. Please resume bickering over whether he should be on the cover or not.

I really hope this game is good because the gameplay needs a lot of tuning to make it fun again. It was fun for the first couple of years just because of the analog controls alone, but that point has passed and they need to add in some realistic gameplay.

I hate to nitpick, but I thought stamkos wears the Bauer 4500 helmet? The cover athlete doesn't get his authentic equipment?

It's a tough call as an owner becuause you get a bad rep from not signing superstars. Just look at Peter Pocklington when he chose to trade Gretzky instead of resigning him. In all honesty he made the right choice, but the fans don't always understand the business aspect.
All in all I do believe that they will sign Stamkos. I believe the main reason is because Steve Yzerman is the GM. I think if someone not as popular or as decorated as Stevy Y was GM we could see Stamkos signing with someone else. Yzerman has done an incredible job in just one year at TB.

An offer sheet may actually be a good thing for Tampa, since all they would have to do is match. It would help them out if negotiations with Stamkos are going slowly. They just match the offer and have their player.
It would be tricky, however, if a team offered Stamkos a one year deal for max salary. Then, even if Tampa matches, Stamkos becomes a UFA at the end of next season.

Here's the figures for attendance (you can scroll thru the last 10 years to better determine Tampa's fan base).

Here's average ticket price since 1994, with the Lightning on the lower side of prices compared to the league. With that said, it doesn't mean they're having trouble making money, as revenue from other sources could make up for low ticket prices:
