Madden 12 News Post

There's plenty of information already out there in terms of what Dynamic Player Performance is and how it will work. The point of this feature is to detail Dynamic Player Performance in small chunks while also combining it with how players will change during the season. In other words, think of this article as a CliffsNotes for Madden NFL 12 Dynamic Player Performance.

Man, you just posted this after I posted a request this breakdown in another thread.
Too fast on the trigger for me, my friend!!!

I hope some type of trait is there for 3-4 OLB's dealing with Pass Rush.
If players will play towards their traits and there is no Pass Rush trait for these guys, I wondering how will some be pass rushers if they only have Coverage and Run Stop traits again?

Good breakdown!!
I would lock this thread somewhere, as this list will be a big "Need to know" going forth.

Thanks again!

Great write-up Chase...you've been on the money w/ the blogs and impressions this year.

I will be getting Madden, but man I wish this was also in NCAA 12 as I like NCAA football more than NFL.

Great article... Can't wait for football this year

Tremendous write up and great information. This is really a great direction EA is taking IMO this year.

after a bad week, i suspect fitz only pushes himself harder. lesser players would be affected. but i don't think a player of fitz's caliber is going to have a downer because of the previous week.

Sold. I've been a Madden ***** for 10 and 11. I guess you can't have a soccer guy in charge of a football game. M12 has earned my 60 bucks this year. Great job guys.

Interesting.

The new General Mgr of Madden and NCAA comes from FIFA. And that soccer guy you are referring to had a lot of work contributing to this Madden.

Big difference between the GM and the talent(devs) who actually do the work. You can't code certain things if the devs don't actually get it.

How does developer talk always manage to get into these threads? Seriously, there's no need for it.

Chase, thanks for the article. I am really excited to see how this plays out in the game. In a way, this reminds me of the All-Pro Football system of assigning players different abilities, and I really thought that was a clever move.

Still doesn't minimize the fact that Ian put a lot of work into 12 before he left. The game was nearing beta or in beta when he left, so, his imprint is still on 12.

Sorry DJ, didn't see your post when I posted.

Carry on.

WOW 2nd and 41!?

I'm really loving the fact that if you can get to a QB consistently, that they'll change the way they play. Too many times in games you get, say, three or four sacks and countless pressures, and he stays calm and collected.

My favorite one has to be the "High Motor". My only question though is that random players you draft at the end of the year, will they come with these "perks" built in?

Great article Chase!
One thing that wasn't mentioned anywhere else, was that the commentators and stat banners would give DPP information on the fly.

Good read on what DPP will mean for Madden 12. One area that I'm a bit concerned with is the Clutch trait. All of the other dynamic traits sounds nice, but I cannot help think that the clutch trait sounds like a gimmick. Maybe it was just Donny Moore's way of presenting it in the pre-e3 video... hmm.

Hopefully they will leave the debug option on the menu in my copy so I can fix the sliding.

If the average football watcher could name 3 special team specialist maybe it would get some love. Hell without looking I don't think I could name 3 punters.

the coaches too like getting a flag for blowing there cool. calling a timeout for silly plays.

the qb should have one for play clock awareness like getting the play off in time and then another for stadium noise.

then they should combine all the players attributes and somehow have it effect how fast they break the huddle and get to the line maybe they move slower as a team if they lost there confidence and faster if they are confident
tired of having to run off the same amount of time per play game tempo changes from the 1st qtr to the 4th. and madden should reflect that.
Play clock awareness? really?Tempo is fine and dandy but that is playbook specific not QB related. I have watched and played football my whole life, I have never seen a team go slow out of the huddle because their confidence is down. Any QB in the NFL that can't look up to see the play clock won't be in a regular season game. More attributes aren't always better.

From my experience at the Pro level, I will say this is not true at all.

You'll be amazed how much the "Wheels spin between the ears" when your out there and everyone is watching your every move/motion.

Pro QB's burn TO's often because your thinking about so much that must get communicated so that the team is prepared even before the snap of the ball.

Even the Manning's/Brady's loose track every now and then.
If you ever get a chance to sit in on a Pro practice, you'll see how often the team's tempo/pace runs behind the clock.
Trust me, it happens more than you think.

I often see comments that are formulated from a Fan's perpective concerning Madden that are not in-line with what actually goes on at that level.

Sometimes we lose sight that what you see on TV is from each phase of the game being broken down into segments that are tweaked/tuned from many reps each day behind closed doors (per say).

As a Fan, you don't get to see the Preparation side of the game.
But it is needed for each phase to come together on Sunday's and play out as smooth as possible.

Those Extra Ratings that you feel are not necessary actually work to bring aspects of that preparation to the game.

They help the video game to mimmick what is seen on TV as much as possible.

After all, we do want Realistic football in our video game, right?
