Hmm... Can't say I'm really excited about any of these. I suppose most of the improvements this year will hopefully be advancing the physics engine, something that wouldn't really translate to screens.

Looks the same as 11.

@ adayinthelife HWM is the greatest most powerful band of all time, nice avatar sir. Well done.

Tampa Bay and LA both have their old jerseys in the screens, more rbk codes I assume. And what of Atlanta? Will the new game feature the new Manitoba team, or keep the thrashers?

The lighting on that Backstrom pic is nice.

As long as the deal actually gets done and things don't stretch out for more than a few months, they probably will have the Winnipeg/Manitoba team.

Am I seeing real modeled arenas finally?

Not sure to what extent the arenas are improved/changed, but the one in the 3rd screen certainly looks new.

At first glance I thought it was a "classic" arena but on closer inspection it looks like an international arena.

Agreed, and thanks!

Yeah, it does get my hopes up a little bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a single new rink, for "international" games. Not that we can really see many details in the other screens, but the rinks look pretty much the same to me...

Also a possibility.

What's up with the barrier around the rink in the 3rd pic? Fans can't pound the glass or whatever this year?

# 14 Qb @ 05/27/11 01:14 PM
That's what makes me think it's a new arena, as I don't recall seeing that setup before. That combined with the ice markings give the impression that it is a European rink... whether it's a single generic one or something else is unknown.

As much as I hate to be that guy, these screens look almost identical to NHL 11. I mean, Stamkos' face is still WAY off. There is even NHL 11 signage in the 5th screen...

I know there is a long way to go, but visually, the game looks the same.

i agree for the most part, but some of the arenas def look like they have changed a bit.

ya gotta figure, if they had real arenas, knowing EA, they would have talked about that by now. although, i could be wrong..

# 17 tabulaRasa @ 05/27/11 04:51 PM
Arenas doesnt seem to have correct board stripe colors or glass holder colors. Something 2k had but of course not many noticed. Screens look like nhl11, but that isnt neccesarily à bad thing.

NHL 10 was a massive improvement, didnt notice much improvement from 10 to 11. Really looking forward to new presentation. Gary Thorne was attrocious, he mispronounced so many names it was just stupid. Blame goes to him and EA for not having phonetic listings of the player names. It may sound anal but it really took away from the enjoyment of the game in 11

The Presentation has changed, but I haven't heard that the commentary team changed, is there confirmation of this? I've always liked Thorne/Clement, they do video game hockey well. Not many could necessarily, it's not the same as the real thing, so you never know.

I sure hope so BNG.

I was originally thinking that if Winnipeg isn't in at release, maybe they'd patch them in at some point. Hopefully they'll tell us one way or the other.

I hate to see Hotlanta lose their team. [Minnesotans know what that's like] But very happy to see Winnipeg coming back to the NHL!
