NCAA Football 12 News Post

As promised, EA has been posting blogs all week detailing some of the changes to NCAA Football 12. Today's blogs include one on the Online Dynasty web improvements, while the other is about the the addition of custom playbooks to the game.

I found that the web improvements blog was more interesting because of all the functionality that has been added for Online Dynasty users. I know a couple OS'ers who are addicted to this mode, and I really just want to see how much more obsessed they become with these new additions now being included. I'm thinking I'll see at least one set of OS'ers finish a season of Online Dynasty in a single day.

In addition, EA's Ben Haumiller clarified some things that relate to the paid content you can buy for Online Dynasty:

Quote:
First is that you do not have to pay to access the Online Dynasty website. The site itself, and everything you could do last year continues to be free to use. Recruiting online, writing your Dynasty Wire stories, email alerts, stats/standings, etc. are all there for you to use simply by being a member of an Online Dynasty. Also, while access to Advance Week and Super Sim from the web do each come at a price of $2.99 it’s important to note that this is a onetime fee for the life NCAA Football 12. If you purchase access to Super Sim and participate in 20 different Online Dynasties over the course of your time playing NCAA Football 12, you will be able to Super Sim games in every one of those Dynasties. There is also a free 7 day trial for you to check out the Super Sim app for yourself and see what it’s all about before making the decision on purchasing access for the life of the game.

If you are the commish of a bunch of different Dynasties you will be able to advance the week in every one of them. Also, you are not required to purchase a commissioner bundle to be the commissioner of an Online Dynasty. You can still be the commissioner of one Online Dynasty without purchasing any PDLC.

EA's Jordan "Mr. Peterson" Peterson, talks about creating, shaping and organizing a custom playbook. The whole process looks really clean and easy. One thing of note is that you will be able to use your custom playbook in every game mode, both online and off.

It's also worth mentioning, once again, how big or small the playbooks can be:

Quote:
You may also note that for each Custom Playbook there will be a maximum of 377 plays and 40 formations that can be selected. However, for those of you that prefer a more minimalistic view, you can reduce your playbook down to only 50 plays. Before we get into editing the Custom Playbook, let's take a quick look at the base playbook.

So what do you guys think?

Has there been any confirmation if we can supersim or advance the week using a smart phone or an iPhone? If this is true, I will never work...

"The Advance Week option does exactly what it says, it advances you to the next week in your Dynasty. While that might seem trivial at first, this was actually a tremendous technical undertaking."

Yup, sure it was.

There are two more very important things we need in this year's web based offerings...

1.) Export complete stats : Last year we could export several things into CSV files, but not everything we saw in the console. I want to be able to export the stats for every single individual game.

2.) Simulate/Disallow any game : As commissioner I need an easy way to simulate someone ELSE's game individually, and then disallow it and resimulate it if I want. As it is now you'd have to switch control to that person's team, exit/reenter the dynasty, simulate the game, then if you want to disallow it and re simulate it you'd have to go back to your OWN team (because you can't disallow results of your own games for some reason), disallow the result, then start the process all over. The simple ability to simulate/disallow ANY game in your dynasty would be huge for me.

Anyone else loving the Far Pro Set?

Wow... not even a page of responses in regards to this blog. No opinion is a lot worse than a negative opinion; EA should take note.

Everything that people have said have happened in previous blogs/threads. There isn't anything really new, at least in regards to custom playbooks anyway.

Be that as it may, there's 5-6 threads on CC on the first page alone and all but one are 9+ pages of people saying the exact same thing.

Now I know CC > All this year and custom playbooks were announced a while ago, but what I'm saying is EA seemed to put a lot of dev time into online/web integration and this thread is public library quiet.

Exactly! I'd like for them to had worked on medical redshirts, high school all star game, spring drills........................you know, things that have to do with football. You can't charge for that though so we'll have to wait for another year to see that stuff. **sigh**

I don't know that I agree about the lack of comments. Many of the comments in the CC threads are about how it wasn't implemented properly or how much assistant coaches should impact this or that. The web improvements blog was succinct and explained things well. The custom playbooks have been talked about ad nauseum, so I wouldn't expect to see many comments for a blog that just clarifies that which had already been stated. It wasn't a bad blog. There just wasn't a lot of new info.

For those that play online dynasties almost exclusively, the web improvements are a welcomed edition. Now if the significant other is hogging the tv I can whip out the laptop and play my game versus the CPU. The only down side is the inability to use custom playbooks.

I really never got into online dynasties - Most of them crumbled before the end of first season; however the online capabilities has got my interest. I think this is really awesome to have because not every time do I want to play a game or boot up my console.. Now I just boot this up with my laptop and can almost use it as a text based sim which I enjoy (is this a move by EA to move towards text based sims for the future?) . And hopefully the stats on the web app are exportable, which can really make it really easy to setup some really nice/dynamic League Websites and show a history.

For a user that never got online that much especially in Dynasties , I'm really liking the ability for the CC in online dynasties combined with the online capabilities! This game is really taking a good turn with features that intrigues me... With some gameplay tweaks, this game could be special. I thought I was going to take a break for a year and just get madden (after a 2 year break).. Don't think that will be the case afterall

I really like the features, but paying for them is unacceptable. I'm already paying $60+ for the game.

Wow!!! The Super-Sim feature for online dynasty is way cooler than I expected. Originally, I never thought I would use it at all. However, after reading more about it, I think I'll have an online dynasty by myself just for super-simming. Of course, I can always play games if I feel the need to. My work days will now be filled full of calling plays & recruiting instead of posting on OS & Twitter all day. Very cool & quite innovative. I'm hoping Madden has this, as well.

Two question for everyone who says that paying for the extra online capabilities is unacceptable. Would you rather it not be an option? I know most will say no I just want it to be free. That brings me to the 2nd question. Why do you deserve more product for the same amount of money?

We as consumers are getting out of line. You would never do more work and accept the same pay.

We have received clarification on Formation Audibles (when using custom playbooks-coogrfan):

The CPU will assign audibles based upon plays that are remaining in the set to match each type of formation audible.

Custom playbooks are available for online ranked games... well looks like I'll be joining an OD to avoid the cheesers who will run rampant with this add-on.

Are custom playbooks tied to our profile? Or are they their own separate file? If it's a separate file, there is a way around the 30 playbook maximum.

You could create 30 playbooks, then save that on a flash drive, but not the hard drive. You can then create 30 more playbooks and keep that loaded on the hard drive. As long as there is only one "Playbook" file on teh hard drive you should be able to keep extra playbook files on a flash drive and then you can just load whichever file is necessary for your current game (if you want to create CPU playbooks for them to use).

So anyone know how the custom playbooks will be saved?

Yay Far formation is in by the looks of it...now I can create a cool West-Coast style playbook. This feature looks pretty good.
