Not many Americans know about Pro Yakyuu Spirits Baseball. Why? Because it's a Japanese baseball game and a lot of people are too lazy to weed through the menus to get a game going. Based on feedback from our Other Baseball Games Forum, the series is the best, baseball has to offer. Check out the Spirits Translation website, which translates the Japanese text in the game, into English. If you are patient, you will be surprised at just how deep this game is.

To borrow a line from the great Sammy Sosa:

It's so real!

Awesome-looking game.

the animations are definitely not as smooth but it does seem to be physics based...pretty cool

is this only for PS3? if so, thats a bummer. It looks really good and probably the most simulated baseball game ever?

I'm afraid so, at least for home consoles (there is a 3DS and PSP version)....Funny thing is when this game first "jumped" on the next gen scene it was on the 360 shortly after launch (PYS3) which was cool because still today it is playable online over xbox live...yet POOR sales for the big M in Japan made it a 1 and out for Konami on the 360

The following year it was moved over to PS3, and has found a home on that system ever since.

Sad, cause I really liked to play it over xbox live.....on the PS3 (for whatever reason) Konami shuts down online play for previous year games once the new one releases.

Yeah, never quite understood Konami's decision there. They are definitely different when it comes to online play (darn Konami ID's LOL)

MLB The Show could stand to use a few ideas from this game.

I just love how the cursor changes size depending on the count in your AB. I also really like the "special skills" in the game that can make your player better or worse depending on the situation!

In a perfect world, 2KSports would work with Konami and localized Pro Yakyu Spirits with a MLB license AND WITHOUT MESSING WITH THE GAMEPLAY (honestly, do you trust 2K?) but in the real world I guess they are too busy working on Nickolodeon Baseball for that

Yep, all 2K would have to do is send a few guys to Japan to oversee everything and let the Japanese devs take care of the rest. Wouldn't it be so much cheaper to collaborate with them - and have a better product to boot?

absolutely. I'm a huge fan of The Show but PYS still has a more realistic feeling. I just hope that Konami gets an MLB license one day. Best thing about this game? It never needs a patch, perfect out of the box.

I agree....the second best thing is the physics and realistic "balancing" of teams......it will be harder to win with the BayStars than any other team because they are the worst team in all of NPB....BUT I STILL LOVE THEM!!!!!

This game never feels repetitive, never gets boring and definitely never has a consistant super AI comeback that makes other games feel cheap and unrealistic....(no bottom of the 9th, 2 out, 13 run rallies here).

Only thing I would like Konami to implement is check swing......and maybe the option to warm up bullpen pitchers before they enter game.....other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

One thing I can't stand from MLB the show is when the opposing team gets a hit to the outfield and you bring the ball back it to first base your defender never goes to cover the bag....he always remains in the initial defensive stance....as Napoleon Dynamite would say......"IDIOT"

But the show is a very good game overall.....not quite as good as PYS....but very good nonetheless.

Yes the physics, balancing of teams, and the game being perfect out of the box makes it the best baseball game.

The game looks like The Show but The Show has better animations. I like some of the ideas however I am not a fan of the batting cursor.
