Every year they add something new in terms of gameplay.....which really isn't new because it's something they probably had back on the old systems

I guess the key question is what did they remove this year?

In order to add something EA always removes something during gameplay....two years ago they screwed up on fatigue or removed it without saying anything while running their nice little videos before release of the game

Last year they removed dirty uniforms although they did release a patch to include it later....but if you wanted to play without the patch not having dirty uniforms was the price you had to pay

This year knowing EA i'm pretty sure they removed something that we haven't noticed yet in the videos so please EA make sure fatigue was left alone it worked great in NCAA 11 and please don't have every player on the team rated 90+ for zone coverage in an effort to cheese your way into fixing it this year

Whoa! Wait. On the TCU 4-2-5 defense "shutting down a running team" in the Rose Bowl. I'm FAR from a Wisconsin fan, but TCU didn't stop the UW running game. UW play calling did that.

As for the game, I'm getting pretty excited about this game. It's taken them more than 10 years to finally get a clue, but the "collision based" tackling is a LONG overdue change. Now it's time for them to hire new mocap actors...

And the day they get zone coverage right will be the day I actually SEE it for myself in the game. So we will see.

Do you really think fatigue worked great in 11? Do you play as one of the top teams? Like Texas or USC or Ohio State? Because I felt fatigue was horribly wrong, especially if playing as a lower-tier team like Florida Atlantic or Arkansas State.

I would have WR's in the yellow... go to half-time, start the second half by kicking off, then after 2 to 3 minutes of the other team on offense I would take the field and my WR's would still be yellow!

Just because a team isn't as skilled, doesn't mean they aren't conditioned. This is something that is easily fixed... if you want to go in and edit every player, but I felt fatigue was very wrong in 11.

They didn't actively remove dirty uniforms. Something about a switch not being flipped in coding that caused the issue.

i still dont like how the ol/dl interact...

Improved Zone Defense!
You mean faster Nano-Slide.
Guys are gaining 2-3 yrds with each side shuffle step.
Of course the Zone Defense seems like it's working.

It's so funny how they say "Gameplay" yet the things folks spent hours tweaking ratings/sliders to fix are not talked about or even mentioned in none of their Gameplay info release.

The catch in the endzone had "TWO" def players having no awareness of were the ball was.
Two players watched the WR make a catch between them.
No attempt to knock the ball away and the player on the left just stopped as the catch animation played through. No collision to separate the ball or nothing.

Passes to the back in the flats will not work because players are still changing direction on a dime.
The two defenders got that Nano-boost to the ball carrier.
When they get there, I'm expecting a replay of Reggie Bush's welcome to the NFL hit by the Giants.
Instead, they come up and Sissy-tackle the guy.

The field is still way "Too SMALL" so that gameplay can be authentic.
That's why it looks/plays better using slower speed.
It gives gives you room for things to play out as they should.

I thought we were going to talk about actual Gameplay, as in fixing these "Issues" from past releases that were still in last year's game.

How about..
-High Player Recognition killing screens/play-action plays?
-Why no talk about DB mirroring WR's routes?
-How about a Kicker blocking a DL with ease?
-Nice dive catches, what about some form of jump ball on fades?
-Scrambling QB's not scrambling
-Anything about Special Teams would be great.

There are so many things that are not being addressed/discussed before moving on to the next area of the game.
Especially since they're still tuning/tweaking the game.

Oh well!

New tackling system, tighter zones & diving catches... Everything I've seen has been great so far! Plus, I'm sure there's even more gameplay improvements to come. IMO NCAA is the greatest football game I've played and it looks like NCAA is going to be even better! Can't wait!!

I was hoping for new footage of the game. Maybe next time...

Where is the momentum system in that florida state TD catch?

From what I see he should have been laid out, instead he knocks the defender over.

@TreyIM2
I was thinking the same thing... im tired of seeing the same clips put in different interviews
And they still got cornerbacks wit 4.2 speed to swat passes... its in the vid

They are not allowed to make QB #16 look like Denard Robinson. They can not use likeness

Denard Robinson has dreads, but QB #16 doesn't. This game doesn't can't use a players likeness, so if EA was to have him and all other players have dreads in game, then they'd be in even deeper trouble right now.

As for the shoes thing, you can easily fix that yourself when playing with them, and maybe EA knows something we don't yet?

Am I the only one that heard Ben say "we added a tackle button for the first time." I know past NCAA's had a tackle button. On the PS2 days it was the X button. I didn't use the hit stick until I moved to the PS3 with NCAA 08. One more thing being passed off as new that was from the old systems.

In a more positive note I can't wait to hear more. While the games looks keep improving, I'm hoping the gameplay keeps improving as well. I do hope they fixed the zone issues and really all coverage issues. It is hard to tell from screen shots. I also hope they didn't pull a NCAA basketball 10 in that they spent countless hours improving presentation and not enough time improving gameplay and making the dynasty mode have long term playability. It was nice to hear them say they hear the community but I don't buy that they try an put what we say into the game. Oh crap I was going to stay positive. Oh well heres to NCAA 12 is worth playing.

yea i mentioned in another thread about that tackle button, that makes me very happy to hear it, just one button can do many different types of tackles. I dont like the hit stick unless im blitzing a QB or theres a WR just in the air asking for it. But this way no matter how close i am, my guy can at least make an attempt to knock the ball carrier around making him lose some momentum. I think the game will always be worth playing every year. just dont always expect too much. the less you expect the smaller chance you have of being disapointed

# 16 Jakeness23 @ 04/24/11 09:38 PM
I like most of what I see but there are a couple things. 1. the ball is still too big. 2. Making the secondary super slide to knock down a pass does not mean their intelligence is improved, it means the devs made it so the CPU can cheese to make it "more realistic" which is crap. If the guy is open, he is open.

They added a dive tackle button, Like the square button on the PS2 Football games?? It's soo new!! They may need to get more than 3 people for mo-cap

There is still a lack of player momentum in the game. Players are too twitchy and aren't penalized for change of direction. The defender at the 1:55 mark bounces back and forth twice with almost no penalty. Acceleration just seems off with little penalty in change of direction. I really wish the dev team would have a player momentum option where we could make it heavier like the PS2 days. I still miss how the players moved from the old days when you couldn't cut on a dime and accelerate like a jack rabbit.

That looked odd.

Overall I like the improvements to the game and it looks like a day one purchase for me. But the player momentum still appears MIA to me. They took a small step forward last year but I wish you had an option to really boost the "locomotion" effects.

I think the greatest addition they could make for the 12 games is global sliders ability to tweak every slider, ratings from global stand point . Developers shouldn't care if someone wants to make a team or whole NCAA or NFL 99 rated players. just give us the option to make it so.

Very good video. Game is shaping up nicely... can't wait for the demo.
