Madden 12 News Post

Multiple sources are reporting that Cam Weber, EA's General Manager of Football, is touting a new 3-year plan for Madden, starting with Madden NFL 12.

Didn't Ian have a 3-year plan for an in-depth franchise mode and "Everything you see on Sunday" that was supposed to be fulfilled with Madden 12? Hopefully, he didn't leave because some suits or this new GM put MUT, Gameflow or the Need for Speed type Autolog feature ahead of Ian's vision.

Let the speculation begin...

For now, this is great news. It signals not just a change in leadership, because last time, in my opinion, that got us nowhere. It also signals a change in philosophy.
I was referring more to the doubling of the size of the Madden team more than anything else. Obviously anyone who was internally promoted already has an idea as to what is going on, at least I would hope

Could the team be doubling in size preparing to work on Nintendo's console rumored to be shown at E3 which is supposedly more powerful than the 360 and ps3? Ms and Sony are sure to be going next/next gen as soon or soon after if there's any truth to the rumor?

Think about it... more minimal touch ups for M12, blow the doors off of Madden 13 being the first to develop a football game on the next cycle of consoles....probably not but my gut is just telling me fool me once yadda yadda.

I repeat myself sometimes because you never know what thread a dev might read and become inspired to make a change in Madden.

Did I miss something? Did they say what the actual goals of this new 3 year plan are? If they let us know their actual goals then we can evaluate their progress in 3 years. If not then we really do not know how well they did other than how much we like or dislike the game after 3 years.

I doubt EA will give us a three-year mission statement, but assuming we continue to get overview blogs at the start of each blog season, I suppose fans could evaluate how well EA Tiburon achieves the goals stated in that blog with each yearly iteration.

I don't care if you change, or double the development team. If the engine is not changed or altered then be prepared for the same thing every year.....updated rosters with a whole lot of added, unecessary features!!

We will see how it goes, hopefully it resembles FIFA's 3 year plan

I've been here before, haven't I? Let me think Madden 06, 07 and 08 then David Ortiz is gone and in comes a new 3 year plan with Ian Cummings. Then Madden 09, 10 ,and 11 come with some improvements but also more mediocrity and Ian Cummings is gone. In comes GM Cam Webber and a new 3 year plan. So who will be leaving at the end of this cycle?

I've been saying it for years and I still know it to be true. If there were no exclusive license we would have much better football games to play. From EA as well as others. 3 year plan 5,10 year plan , it doesn't matter. If there is no competition quality will always suffer.

You're not allowed to post to the devs, here. Post only to the people actually discussing the topic, or about the topic in general.

First a three year plan for Elite after NBA Live's three year plan was ****canned after year one. Now a three year plan for Madden. Why should I even bother starting over again with years one and two of either product?

Take your three years EA, if you can finally stick with a three year plan without bailing on it and starting over again when sales are low after year one. See you in 2014.

That's the spirit. Show them you mean business with your business. Not posts on a message board.

Why is this thread even open? Speculation and people saying they are sick of 3 year deals and exclusive deals! This has become so common at this site! People are always protesting saying they will not BUY Madden or they SKIPPED buying Madden for the past few years or they HATE EA and Madden! If this is the case, why is it the same people posting in the Madden forums? Brutal!!!

For me...the NHL game came to mind when hearing about Madden having a "Three year plan." The NHL team announced a three year plan as well last year. To my knowledge, the plan mostly revolves around the addition of Real time physic to their hockey game. I wonder if physic will be a big part of Madden's plan?

That's where Cam came from.

Well, by way of Fight Night Champion.

For what its worth 10 11 and I'm sure 12 were a very successful 3 year plan to me. Compared to Madden 09. Its not where where the franchise needs to be but at the very least 3 years ago Madden was nowhere near good as it is today.
