MLB 11 The Show News Post

Okay everyone....this is the O.S.F.M. Opening Day set.

LINK.....http://www.sendspace.com/file/tckbk5

It is in the Roster Vault under
O.S.F.M. Opening Day....creator Knight165

This set includes....but not limited to:

-All teams 40 man players are correct(in some cases new players created)
-Approximately 80 new players added to replace players no longer in a teams system and to bring AAA(in most cases) up to date
-All players moved to have AAA/AA as close to possible. In most cases all players in AAA are present(some may have had to be put in AA). AA in some cases are exact....most cases though will have filler players from Single A...in some case quite a few from Single A
-MLB lineups/rotations as close to Opening Day as possible(rotations are not set up 1-2-3-4-5 according to how pitchers are percieved, but as they PITCHED to start the season....please don't say that so and so is not the #1 starter on a team, why is he in the first slot?(unless it's an error on my part)
-MiLB lineups/rotations set as to their Opening Day(as above). I tried to get AAA perfect, but I did not create/replace players at the expense of removing prospects....even fringe ones in most cases. I have about 35 players that would make AAA perfect...I will create them and release a player pack for those interested in that.
-Some minor tweaks(minor league players only!)

This is not a magic roster(nor is ANY), so if you don't use 30 team control the lineups and rotations will reset!!!

-For DL'ed players when the season started.....they are in Single A....use the DL feature to injure them or move them up if you like.
Here is the injuries to START the season...

I have used Hustlin's 25 man set and then after I start season I gradually add men back to 40 man roster as injuries occur and need to bring someone up. I have not noticed the problems with the lineups doing it this way. But most posts suggest that I need to put the guys taken off the 40 man roster back on the 40 man roster immediately after you start the new season. Can someone explain why this is necessary or is it just to mimic realism by having the original 40 man roster on opening day?

I think it's necessary to do before the Rule-4 Draft or something like otherwise it'll mess up again. Someone else knows this for sure, I just recall seeing that before.

A few great primers on the subject:

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index...ster-is-short/

http://www.brewcrewball.com/2009/1/4...oster-how-does

http://www.purplerow.com/2009/2/12/7...tions-part-two

For Show purposes trades, rule 5 eligibility, options, and contract eligibility (down the road) are the biggest items - The Show doesn't have a fine tuned financial system as the real MLB or sports simulators.

In RTTS I keep seeing pitchers with a fastball in the 90's but all their slow stuff will be in the 70's. I faced one guy who had a change-up 20MPH slower than his fastball. Is this supposed to be this way? I am pretty sure that someone with a 20MPH difference with his FB/change would instantly be the best pitcher in all of MLB if he had any control.

ok, are the only guys off HustlinOwl's 25 man roster are the injured players?

Is this for all teams or just your own? I would hate to have to manage all of the CPU teams injuries after the beginning of the season.

Are you saying that's what happens on your roster set?

With the 40 to 25 method, I'll get a message (with Injury Management in those 29 teams profiles set to on) because most of those guys are still in the MLB, but on the DL.

Yes this is with my set, but I have injury management to MLB only. That might be where the issue lies, will have to check tonight

I got a Question for anyone to answer. I was thinking about buying a Baseball game for my PS3 but idk if i should get 2k11 or The Show.
Ive seen the The show has way better graphics. 2k11 has better commentary. And the My player mode idk about because that is what i would do mostly. Someone Help?

First of all I want to thanks to Knight and the entire crew for putting this together. Every year I wait until this roster is released to start my franchise and I am always pleased. There are a few key players missing from the dodgers minor leagues this year that is preventing me from starting my franchise..

AAA - Albuquerque
CP - Jon Huber

AA - Chattanooga
CF Bradley Coon (Starter)
DH/OF Elian Herrera (Starter)
C Jessie Mier (Backup)
IF Wilberto Ortiz (Backup)
OF Scott Van Slyke (Backup)
SP Josh Wall (Spot Starter)
LR Mario Alvarez (Long Relief)
MID David Pfieffer (2nd out of the Pen)

Any Dodgers fans out there that want to tackle these players with me? So far Jon Huber is the only player on the above list in the roster vault

i'm more confused after reading this forum now than i was when i started. this is all new to me and want to make sure i have this right using 30 team 2 profile franchise.

1-downloaded hustlinowls 25 man roster (thanks knight and owl!)
2-sim all of ST and advance to regular season
3-manually DL all players knight listed at beginnning of thread
4-add back 15 players to each team (anyone have a list of the 15 to add?)
5-play first game of franchise?

am i missing anything? should rosters and rotations be accurate after this process or will i need to go through and update them all?

Thanks for a response and please be nice. I have read all 17+ pages of this forum and still confused. is the process listed above right?

  1. First would be to make sure your profile user settings and a second created CPU profile have Injuries set to manual.
  2. Mode Options have your profile set to manual/auto on the GM duties you want/don't want to handle.
  3. Now Mode Options for CPU created profile would have to be manual for lineups/rotations, 40-man roster, roster moves, waivers, trades and free agency. IIRC that is all
  4. Now select a "new" franchise and load a saved roster
  5. Press "Square" to control all 30 teams, but having your main team your profile and the other 29 teams the CPU created profile.
  6. Next a screen with all kinds of options... fantasy draft, CPU ROSTER CONTROL, etc. Now make sure the CPU ROSTER CONTROL IS OFF
  7. Will automatically auto-save, next in calendar Wed March 30th, sim to date. Prompt will be spring has ended.
  8. For all teams now adjust 40 man roster, basically add the 15 players that were removed
  9. After players added to 40 man roster next would be to DL those injured players
  10. Save once more, but create a new file. I always do this just in case any objectives are missed.
  11. Now you are ready to advance to regular season and away you go.

will have to double check, doing this so many times I am confusing myself. But if I remember correctly I did not see anything wrong with lineup/rotations set to manual.

It is AFTER.
Otherwise the CPU makes the choices and if the players it chooses are not there at the level...it realigns the lineups/rotations.

Those of us that don't want to put in the injured players on the DL but want them to be healthy (Utley, Santana, etc.), do you still need to put the injury management to MANUAL until after spring training so nobody gets injured during the spring, and then switch it to AUTO after the spring? Or is it not possible to switch it after you start your chise?
