NCAA Football 12 News Post

Over the next few weeks, EA Sports will show 25 new plays that you will find in NCAA Football 12.

New offensive plays will be shown every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while a new defensive play every Tuesday and Thursday. Each new play will be accompanied by a screen of the play art and a brief description of why the play has been added to NCAA Football 12.

Play #19 features the Cover 2 Sink.

Quote:
"3-4 Predator Cover 2 Sink – The 3-4 Predator is a defensive set that calls for the right outside linebacker to align in a three point stance. This gives teams that base out of the 3-4 the ability to get into a 4-3 look. Cover 2 Sink has both corners getting depth on their zone drops in order to take away the natural void in Cover 2 between the safeties and cornerbacks."

Sure hope this means that in NORMAL cover 2 the corners actually try to funnel the receivers to the inside.

FINALLY. Always loved running this play out of the crazy defensive formations the Multiple D had. But I hate using the Multiple D because some of the formations are just cheesy. If this makes it in normal playbooks, I will be a happy gamer.

Ya, this play is already in the game. Granted a MLB is the one blitzing and the OLB drops back in '10, I can't believe they are calling this 'NEW' for '11.

Couldn't even get 12 new defensive plays, huh?

it's a new formation altogether.

Oh sorry... I guess the linebacker with his hand in the ground makes this an entirely new play....

It does. Because they aren't going to make a new formation with just one play. So by them showing the new formation, that's one new look you can run about 20 plays out of. It's not like there's a whole lot of differences you can do with defensive plays, so it's all about mixing up looks.

But none of it works if defense still sucks in the next game. I want to be able to play defensive football games and be able to use zone coverage. I should be able to get at the QB effectively and sack him as a result of my DL beating their OL, not him standing there for an hour and a half.
