Over the next 5 weeks, EA Sports will show 25 new plays that you will find in NCAA Football 12.

New offensive plays will be shown every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while a new defensive play every Tuesday and Thursday. Each new play will be accompanied by a screen of the play art and a brief description of why the play has been added to NCAA Football 12.

Play #2 features the Nickel Normal Cover 6.

Quote:
"Nickel Normal Cover 6 – New to NCAA Football 12, Cover 6 is a split field coverage concept that has the secondary playing Cover 2 on one side of the field and Cover 4 on the other side. Add 2 plus 4 and you get 6, thus the name Cover 6."

Looks to me like a Cloud coverage, seeing the rolled cover three, with the weak side flats vacated.

Great news for those of us who were sick of running cover 2 every other play. I welcome new defensive plays with open arms.

This was in madden. Nice Defense but I just hope the players can play the assignments right.

Yea, I agree. From what I've read, they said that they put in work for zone coverages for both Madden and NCAA. Because, it does suck in '11 when a LB doesn't get to his correct drop.

Also, it would be nice to have the ability to be able to pick which CB you would like to place press technique (or off). I remember that had that in one of the Madden's a few years back.

I like the fact they are offering my zone coverages, but it doesn't mean jack if the cb doesn't cover right . In all zone coverages you want to push wr toward sidelines and it never happens . They can include all the coverages and blitzes they want but the cpu can't play man or cover the right way its just going to be a mess.

This is nice but my biggest gripe with the defense the past few years, besides the fact that alot of it has been broken, is the fact that its almost impossible to make pre-snap adjustments due to the fact the computer doesn't make offensive pre-snap adjustments most of the time and snaps the ball too quickly. Hopefully this changes.

This defense was in Madden 11, and it sucked, just like all the other zone defenses in the game.

EA's zone AI needs a major overhaul.

It all depends how the DBs act in their zone assignment!

Play looks good

This. EA can add a million new plays if the players ratings doesn't matter, the A.I. is still flawed, and size doesn't matter play calling will still be suspect.

The play looks nice but, my biggest gripe about NCAA 11 is zone defenses. Hopefully, they tighten things up a bit this year.

Sure. I remember reading that one of the biggest focuses on both Madden and NCAA was zone coverages.

And whilst I am all for improved defenses and improved AI... please, God please make it happen... one thing that must be eliminated is the Leaping Linebackers and the DT/DE's who drop into coverage and can leap 8 feet in the air to bat a pass down.

There might be 5 total LB's in the country who can do the things that most of them can do in the game... and even fewer DT/DE's...

Nothing worse than having a WR 18 yards downfield, you push up on the direction pad to throw the ball high, you lightly touch the corresponding receivers button and still the LB, a good 10 yards or more away from the WR can leap in the air and bat the pass... and that leads to the crazy tipped ball crap where the ball can get intercepted in the most insane ways ever seen...

If they fix that one issue alone the game will improve tremendously!

Not exactly... there are no vacancies. We played Cover 6 out of our base 4-3 when I played SS at ETSU. Ours was essentially the same but more of a spin on Cover 3 i.e. the SS had the flats and the CB had deep. My former D-Coordinator was most recently UAB's.

This would have been a good play to run in NCAA 11, no one could ever throw deep up the middle on you because 260 pound linebacker with the 96" inch vertical would never let you throw it over his head

Great! Defensive "plays". I guess they don't plan on tierring the defense.

well if ea read this thread i would hope they came away with a renewed sense of urgency to improve zone coverage considering just about every comment has hit on that lol

I think the real problem is the passing arch here. its either a straight line or a lob with hardly any in between.
