Jeff Gordon's flip makes me awful nervous. I hope we don't get the matchbox car effect.

i just have a feeling im gonna waste 60 dollars when i could put it towards mlb 11 the show but im gonna take a chance .. i love nascar but imo the best nascar game i've played is Nascar Racing 2003 Season with Mods.. but with NO Dnfs its almost like this..

if i fly through the air land on my roof in the infield grass i can still race? ok i'll tell that to NASCAR after a car flips and lands on there roof they can still race.

Papyrus is no longer with us since the folks from that team are doing some serious stuff/business as iRacing.

Having said that, their sim lives on through some cool mods:

RiouxMod - http://www.desmodsracing.com/download/dmrnews02/
Revamped Tracks - http://www.revampedreloaded.com/revamped/

BTW: Here's a short video of the Daytona Repaved http://img573.imageshack.us/i/tsk.mp4/

I just don't understand their reasoning on this. DNF's are apart of Nascar every race. If I wanted to continue playing an arcade racer than I can just pop in EA's version.

Someone needs to tell them how bad of a decision that is. Wrong way to start off the series. Take out the bells and whistles and focus on what is in Nascar.

If you read the FAQ, they said it was a licensing issue. That would mean NASCAR itself said no.

Bingo.......

The manufacture of these cars did not want their product depicted in such a way. Before we go trashing a developer about what they didn't add, please just educate yourself on the product first. I am not saying it makes me happy, but there are guidelines they have to follow.

Why would they say no to cars DNFing now though? I never played any of the next gen EA NASCAR games but I'm sure they allowed cars to DNF back then?

I am sorry, as I don't have the answer why. Its the reason that I have been told by people close to the product.

According to the official website forums, the developers stated it was not a licensing issue as to why there is no DNFs. They said it was too buggy to implement and was causing problems, and to expect this feature for next year.

I believe what they could not add due to licensing was car/engine fires and cars going into the grandstands.

Anyways, when you "total" your car, the damage can only be repaired to 60% and even worse if you keep crashing. So, you might be flipping over, but you won't be able to keep up with the other cars or anything of that sort.

I'll try and re-find the posts if I can.

Please, if you find that, could you please post it here. I had heard that it was licensing issue and a demand from the car manufacturers themselves. Obviously, this is second hand info, but from a reliable source.

This is just from a quick 2 minute scan of the forums. There is obviously more info, but this was an interesting post from the developer.

"How does this sound?

In online games you have a Casual and Hardcore mode, when Hardcore is selected we can make is so that all of the mechanical damage isn't repaired, say only 60% is. We can't add DNF's at this stage as it would cause too many bugs and we're really close to going gold!"

I might add that it was originally planned that damage could be 100% repairable. I'm glad that the new NASCAR team cared about the communities response and gave us a reasonable compromise.

Oh, and when you run out of fuel it's "Race Over", so there is some form of DNF in the game.
