Gran Turismo 5 News Post

According to Playstation.Blog, Gran Turismo 5 has a confirmed release date set for November 24th.

Quote:
"The date is locked in: Gran Turismo 5 will go on sale throughout North America on Wednesday, November 24th.

That means you’ll be experiencing over 1,000 cars, including karts and select NASCAR cars, scores of tracks, the all-new Course Maker, a dynamic weather system, a robust online community, and everything else Gran Turismo 5 has to offer in less than two weeks.

Along with confirming the November 24th date, Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. had this to say:

Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."

BREAKING NEWS! GT5 release date pushed back to 2012!

Nah not really. I can't wait until next week to get my hands on this game!

I've never been a big race fan, but for some reason recently I've become very interested in racing games. Today I went out and purchased the Logitech GT Wheel and picked up a used copy of GT: 5 Prologue to hold me over until Christmas when I receive GT:5 as a gift. But if I get hooked on racing GT: 5 Prologue, I have a feeling I won't be waiting until Christmas for GT: 5.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I will get this until I get a wheel for this bad boy. Once I do, it will essentially be the only way to play. But I require manual transmission, with the clutch... just like that's the only way to drive lol.

Kevin Butler is the best thing that ever happened to Sony's marketing.

Man this game looks sexy.

I love these commercials with all the little hidden things in them.

I'm going to have to get a wheel for this.

I'm willing to dish out some cash, if it's nice enough.

I bet I'll spend 10% of my time with the game actually racing and the other 90% looking at replays and taking screenshots.

I'm ready to play this bad boy. I only have a 40 gig ps3, but have a 250 gig 360. I wish I could share some of the HD space

I don't know what all I can delete to get the space to install this game.

Just buy a 2.5" 5400 RPM HDD and upgrade it in the PS3. Can get 500gigs for $60.

Yea, I upgraded my 40gb HDD to a 640GB that I found on sale at Newegg about a year ago. I don't think I'll ever have to worry about HDD space again.

My 80 gig is in dire need of an upgrade. Which one did you end up going with?

Western Digital, Seagate?

I know Seagate comes with the PS3s, I have been using WD (mainly Raptors now) for over 10 years and have had great success with them.

I am probably going to get a WD drive, but ones have to be careful, you have to use the original SATA 2.5" 5400 RPM labtop drives... Western Digital and others are adopting "Advanced Format Technology"on newer models of the same drive which some are reporting has issues with the PS3 OS, and games and video are skipping because it is not optimized for said drives.

This is the exact drive I installed except I caught mine on sale for around $60 shipped.

Edit: Some people have left feedback about this drive causing stuttering issues, I have not had a single issue with it and I just played though the entire game of uncharted 2 last week. I have the older model ps3 though.

That was just what I was going to ask. If you had stuttering.

I think the stuttering is that the newer models store the OS on the HDD itself, where as the older models (like you and I have) have the OS on the mainboard. So thanks for the heads up.

I just ordered the Collectors Edition from Best Buy, and I have to say - I am jacked for this!

I am a little let down about the inability to change rims on standard cars, but if that is my biggest complaint with the game I think I should be fine
