Saying it will be out November 2nd is the first date they've given. So they have not missed it. Giving a general statement about it being out in a couple of weeks is not a deadline. I've never been in any situation where saying "it'll be done in a couple of weeks" is considered a deadline. Deadlines are exact dates/times. If you've ever given your project team an actual deadline of "in the next couple of weeks" than you have a very fortunate, lucky project team.
And why is it ludicrous to defend EA on something? I'm sick of this attitude that you have to criticize the gaming companies for everything otherwise you're just a stupid fanboy who doesn't know any better.
Exactly. I, for one, would much rather wait an extra couple of weeks for the final roster moves to be made (guys sent back to juniors, etc.) and get a much more accurate set of rosters rather than have an almost useless roster update rushed out just to placate the impatient masses.
I have no problem calling a gaming company out when I feel that they're in the wrong, but in this instance, EA does not deserve all of the bashing it has received.
There is a problem with the EA rosters where players that are eligible to return to juniors are not able to during BaGM. A player may play up to 9 games before the team has to make a decision if they are going to send a player back to juniors or if he will stay with the team the rest of the year. I imagine that is why EA had to wait this long for the roster update as Taylor Hall just played his 9th game and Nino Neiderietter was just sent back to juniors. Since there has only been one case (Luca Sbisa) where a junior player was actually sent to juniors after playing more than 9 games, I am sure they wanted to be able to make all rosters as accurate as possible. After playing their 10th game a rookie becomes part of the union officially because they are now using a year of their contract.
My only issue is that EA should have said they were waiting for this date and everyone would not have been freaking out about all of the "false" dates. As fot the roster sharing, I do not think that EA even realized what it was doing when it changed the save games. And I don't think they have gotten into the whole roster sharing programming yet, but I may be wrong as I only play NHL. I just chalk that up to a bad programming mistake and everyone is allowed a mistake once in a while.
Players under 20 years old can be sent to junior at any point. The 10 games only represents the start of their contract. If players are sent back prior to that the team does not lose a year on the contract or a year towards unrestricted free agency.
if they finally give a date, they damn sure better make sure they can deliver. And next year, at LEAST make sure that you get the NHL roster out as soon as you can.
It does seem that NHL is now the only sports game I can remember in recent years to not have an up to date roster within the first 3 weeks of the start of the season.
I don't get why everyone is so surprised/outraged about the roster update. It comes out at this time EVERY YEAR. EA has stated every year that they wait until every team has played their 10th game. The reason being, after ten games a rookie cannot be sent back down to junior, therefore every team must decide to keep or send down rookies after game 9. EA doesn't finalize the update until these roster moves are made. It's the same, year in, year out, quit being so surprised and angered by it.

Actually you are 110% wrong. Ea never said that. Pop NHL 10 in and go check the first roster update date. It was within 2 weeks or sooner I do believe. Quit making up bs like the ea mods. Thanks.

Yeah so again, good stuff of making up bs. They had 2 updates for us this time last year.
And allow me to correct you. There have actually been a few roster updates for NHL 11 so far. Unlike NHL 10, though, you won't find them by going to the "Roster Update" option. However, like NHL 10, a full-fledged "start-of-season" roster was not released until the end of October last year. The reason last year is just as the poster you "corrected" stated (and why I put start-of-season in quotes).
Just out of curiosity if you're so irate about all of this why are you still even playing the game and clogging up the thread with this argument?
who is irate? im not. i play the game with my buddies in the EASHL to get a great arcade NHL experience. i also run about 7 arcade leagues using the game as well, so it would be nice to have a roster update already. im not clogging anything up (although you seem to be with your post that has contributed nothing to the thread), im just pointing out that they had 2 solid roster updates out last year by now.
but just out of curiosity why do you even care what i post on the matter. you dont like it, ignore it or use the ignore feature.

correct rosters for nhl 10 were dropped on the 7th, then it was cleaned up a bit more with the 2nd update on the 29th.
with NHL 11, there were i do believe 2 post release, to get guys like Asham on the Pens etc. but was it like their first effort last year? nope, not even close. with that said, you cant even compare the 2, why? bc ea had 2 releases by now for NHL 10 after the "start of the season". for NHL 11, we have had ZERO..

Actually if you go by the updates for online games, which you can save for offline use, there have been I think at least 3.
It's OK people, your precious rosters drop tomorrow. Then you can spend the next several weeks complaining about ratings and everything little thing wrong with them. Of course offline users will have to wait for the patch before they can truely start their franchise.

I was wondering, when the rosters come out I can save them and use them for my offline season right? also If I have a season going now I cant use the new rosters with that season, I would have to start a new one right? all this stuff confuses me,lol

Yes, since you already have saved your season, it saves the current information from that season. In effect, the rosters, ratings, etc. You will have to restart a gamemode and download the new rosters and save them and make sure they are loaded before you begin a new season mode.

You sir deserve a bucket of alcoholic beverage of your choice.
The update will drop and people will be whining and complaining about the ratings.

cheers Kestrel and schmackity I appreciate you clearing that up for me
One last question, Do I have to load the new rosters everytime I go to play a season game or after the first save the rosters are set for the season?
